I'd love to see my Steelers get back to back superbowls. And the Lions finally win one - first since 2007. They could lose every game the rest of the season and still be better than last year. Of course 1-15 isn't something to hang a banner in the stadium over!

Even though I'm not a true skins fan, this hurts. Real bad.

Funny thing is the Lions gave them a chance to win with that stupid time out - if you're ahead by 5, near midfield, 4th down and 8 with a little over a minute to go, why would you call a time out???

Well all had pretty much below average weeks picking.

The funny thing is, we all picked the lions too.

btw, Tom Brady was horrible today. Put up not too bad stats [200 something yards, 1 TD, no INT] but missed wide open recievers deep 5 or 6 times, and misfired on several other occasions. I will give him credit for making some laser sharp throws towards the end of the game, but for most of the game, he was just terrible.

Wonder why I picked oakland gezze they look terrible.

What brought on the sudden wave of patriots bashing? lol 9.gif

Looks like I absolutely bombed on the Cardinals Colts pick too lol. I should have retired from picking after my glorious week 1 3.gif

    My Snap Judgements

After watching games this weekend, I think we have to recognize the Bengals as a legit playoff contender and stop thinking of the Titans and Miami as so said contenders. The Patriots demise has been greatly exagerated. Meanwhile, Pittsburg should be very concerned this year after showing serious deffeciencies in their offensive line play and defense in general which clearly misses its lethal safety Polamalu who was stricken by the Madden Cover Curse. Finally, the Giants are for real, as are the Saints, which are looking like the two best teams in the NFC thus far.

On another note, I really hate those Texans, they are so maddeningly unpredictable...Im 0-3 on them this year...

I also hate how NE always gets all the calls in their favor. What I yelled at the TV when the refs gave them the game over the Raiders because of the "tuck" rule would make most sailors, truck drivers and prisoners blush. They do always seem to get the call if there is any controversy. I always say they win because they have all the extra players wearing the striped uniforms.

Nothing makes me smile more than posts like these 9.gif

If it makes you feel better DCMetro, the patriots hadn't played the panthers since 2001 before that 2004 sb so if they were "cheating" as you call it, they would have been pretty screwed as they would have been trying to play defense against the Panthers playbook from 2001. 17.gif

Edit: MattSizzle, apparently you are forgetting all the rule changes in 2004 that were made to prevent the Patriots secondary from completely dominating the pass game again. You know, the no contact after 5 yards thing? The single largest contributor to the lack of super bowl wins in new england since 2004?

Not really since they would have been spying on the signals and such...

And I think getting caught cheating is why they haven't been winning - they know the commish is watching them so they have to play fair and can't win that way. The coach should have been banned from the NFL for life and there should have been a way bigger penalty than there was.

You really don't even understand what spygate was all about, do you? They filmed the other teams coaches signals and then reviewed them later on in the year if they were going to play them again, and it certainly wouldn't help the Patriots in the first game of the year against an opponent, which i think was proven by the fact that the patriots ran the table in 2007. Its a common practice throughout the NFL anyways...

But also for calls that went against the patriots.

How about the David Tyree catch? You know, the holding during the potential sack of manning that the ref later said "I thought about calling".

Also the explanation of the Tuck Rule was that the ref knew Tom Brady patted the ball before he threw, and any kind of thing like that is considered part of the throw, which is why he called it a fumble.

That has been the problem since Jack Kent Cooke died and it will continue to be the problem until we get rid of Dan Snyder.

Dear lord, please let Romo be week 1 version and NOT week 2.

I am excited and apprehensive about this game. Surely the Cowboys will finally get a sack or an interception? Wade Phillips stinks.

I was frustrated by Jason Garret's decision making at the end there as well. He clearly is not the genius everyone made him out to be when he was first hired away from the Dolphins. On another note, I am still bitter that Wade Phillips is the Cowboys head coach over former Cowboy coaches like Sean Payton or Tony Sparano. When Jason Garret was hired, there was an understanding between Jerry Jones and Garret that Garret would probably succeed Wade Phillips as head coach after a short while. Why could Jerry Jones not do that with one of the many successful coaches around the league that have been hired away from the Cowboys instead picking out a novice and unknown quantity in Jason Garret. Here is a list of some notable coaches around the league that were once on the Cowboys staff at some point in the last decade: Sean Payton, Tony Sparano, Todd Haley, Mike Zimmer. What is Jerry Jones doing as the GM of this team? On the entire Cowboys staff, new hire Joe Decamillis leader of special teams is the only coach on the team that I think carries serious credibility.

A quick look at the Cowboys roster in the past three years reveals one of the most talented football teams in the NFL, yet we have not experienced in playoff success whatsoever. That is a direct result from poor coaching, which the Cowboys have in spades. They say the NFL is a young man's game, the league of Not For Long, and while this absolutely applies to the players of the game, it also applies to the coaches. I may or may not have mentioned this before, but no NFL team has ever won the Super Bowl with a head coach over the age of 55. Wade Phillips is well into his 60s. Now never say never, but after forty plus years, that is a pretty solid precedent. At some point in the very near future, Wade Phillips must go.

I do think that this will be the year that the Cowboys will end their decade long playoff shortcomings and make it at least to the NFC Championship game. They have the right make up with a dominant running game and a rock solid defense to produce later in the year. But the bottom line is that with poor coaching the Cowboys likely will not get far.

Sim Shady: Dick Vermeil (63), Weeb Ewbank (61), Tom Coughlin (61) and Barry Switzer (58)

    Super Bowl winners over 55.

I only know that because i just read an article on how Belichick is getting too old [57], so i went and looked that up. I do think the age theory has some value though. Perhaps they just lose some of their fire? Their ability to connect with their players?

Hmm thats what I get for blindly believing people without checking their credibility. Oh well lol.

Thank you for the correction Kryptowhite 2.gif

As far as the theory goes, I think that the brain begins to decline and the body as well once you hit the second half of your 50s. Coaching in the NFL is extremely taxing job that requires a tremendous amount of energy and intelligence. I believe as you get older, the demands of the job probably wear coaches out, leading to a decline in the quality of their performance. That is just my theory though lol. I am sure plenty of social security and retirees would dispute it.

On another note, it looks like Cowboys stud running back Felix Jones will miss next weeks game with a sprained knee. Dang! And Miami quarterback Chad Pennington is out for the season with a serious, potentially career ending shoulder injury! Maybe next year Miami.

Not with him, I doubt anyone will pick him up again. Pennington haa been injured more then he has played over his career. I think at least 3 full seasons on IR.
