9-3 pats at half time. This game has been really hyped up, more so than any other jets pats game since the mangini-belichick playoff game in 2006.

Hasn't dissapointed so far. The Jets offense has done squat. The Pats offense has only mustered 3 fg's. Tom Brady looked dazed and confused for the first 20 minutes, he made a great drive in the second half 2 minute warning that ended with a field goal. Other than that, he's done squat too.

Something that has amazed be is how little respect the patriots are getting a) from the media b) from the jets. 4 out 5 espn analysts picked the jets to win. The same ESPN analysts that predict the pats for the super bowl every year. People don't seem to realize that Gary Guyton was one of the best rookie linebackers last year, but he was overshadowed by THE BEST rookie linebacker, Jerod Mayo. They don't seem to realize that yea, we lost Seymour, but Jarvis Green has terrorized Peyton Manning for years as Seymours backup [Green had 3 sacks in the 2004 AFC championship, he is good for about 7 every year]. Our front seven is Derrick Burgess, Jerod Mayo, Adalius Thomas, Vince Wilfork, Ty Warren, Jarvis Green, and Mike Wright on a good day. I think most NFL coaches would kill for that.

So i'd like to see the Pats break this game open in the second half, if only to shut up ESPN and the Jets.

Edit [after the game]: Well, the pats did the exact opposite. Not only could they not move the ball for their lives, but they sat back in their zones and allowed Mark Sanchez to quote unquote pick them apart. 16-9 loss. Tom Brady had 4 chances in the fourth quarter to get one touchdown. Blew them all. He looked timid and afraid to step into his throws, which i thought he was over last week. When he did get a look, he made a bad throw. When someone pressured him, he would turn and try and force it in off his back foot. Completely "un-tom brady-like" performance. Perhaps the worst I've ever seen him play. The running game was absent for a majority of the game, the clock management was horrible [5 delay of games], and the o-line couldn't handle the jets at all. The recievers were okay, but they made 3 key drops, one of which would have gotten a first and goal, but instead was dropped and turned into a field goal.

On defense, sure they only let up 16 points, but they did not blitz sanchez once all game. Anybody could have won that game if they got that kind of time. I bet peyton manning or tom brady would have put up 50 points with that kind of time.

Anyways, the things that bug me the most about this are:

-Everybody in the media is going to make Mark Sanchez out to look like superman [as if they haven't already]. He isn't. As i said before, anybody could have done that with the time he had. And its worth pointing out that on back to back plays he overthrew wide open recievers, and the jets had to settle for a field goal. Also throughout the game, he was overthrowing or flat out missing on third downs, although it didn't matter because tom missed his guys even worse.

-The Jets are never going to shut up about this. Unfortuantly for them, by the time they get back to foxboro for round 2, belichick will know every last scheme they run, and Tom will pick them apart. Assuming he has the balls to step into a throw.

Anyways, if the first two games are any indication, this should be a fun intense season. I definetely like the close, "rough-it-out" style game better than the Tom Brady 6 touchdowns 58-3 shootout.

A very bad game. Details tomorrow of my trip to the Staduim Opening ! ! + Pictures and some vidio , mostly of the crowd noise that 105K people can generate.

I Will say now i enjoyed the rededicating of the RIng of Honor, was good to see some of the old timers again.

The only thing that would have made it better is if they had inducted someone new as well. Larry Allen mabey

Don't feel bad, this is the best start to a season I've had in about 5 years, the past few seasons I've ended up with worse weeks than you have this week and was well below .500.  This probably means I'll get worse as the season winds on19.gif  I took a chance on the Giants/Cowboys game last night knowing that the Giants haven't won in Dallas for quite some time, then again, I'm still kicking myself in the ass19.gif for not taking the Jets over the Pats when my gut feeling told me to.  I won't go against my gut feeling again.28.gif

Lol I had that same feeling that the Jets would live up to their big mouths, but I talked myself out of it by saying "but this is TOM BRADY." Sadly, Tom Brady isnt here right now, just a hollow shell of a once great quarterback.

How lousy that all of our teams lost this week. lol. maybe next week.

Tom Brady had nothing to do with my picking them.28.gif  To be very honest, any QB who plays behind an offensive line like NE has had these past several years could have put up the numbers Brady has.19.gif  Put Brady behind an average OL, his numbers drop significantly and he would be considered just an average QB.  So in my opinion, the offensive line gets all the credit for NEs incredible numbers Brady has put up the past several years, not Tom.

I do have a question for ya, have you ever heard of a player from the 70s named Sam The Bam Cunningham?  And if so, what team did he play on?

Sam The Bam Cunningham, Id never heard of him

    Wiki has though

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Cunningham

In only his second year 1974, he gained 811 yards and 9 touchdowns as he led the New England Patriots to a surprising 4-0 start before faltering to a 7-7 finish. In 1977 he gained a career high 1,015 yards and scored 4 touchdowns, and also caught 42 receptions for 370 yards and a touchdown. He played his entire career (1973 through 1982) with the Patriots and was a 1978 Pro Bowl selection.

Cunningham finished his career with 5,453 rushing yards, 210 receptions for 1,905 yards, and 49 touchdowns. He is the older brother of former NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham. <<< Wow  44.gif

Thanks Easybakes.  Don't know why I didn't think about wicki3.gif  Yes, I knew Randall was Sams little bro, I went to high school with Randall and he lived a few houses down the street from me2.gif  Randall graduated from HS in my sophomore year in which our team went 13-0 before losing the CIF championship to Long Beach Poly 35-7.  Check and see if you can find a yearbook from Santa Barbara High School circa 1980-81 school year and you'll find both mine and Randall's photo in it.  Unfortunately, I lost my copy years ago15.gif

Yea I have didn't he play for the Iggles?

Anyways, I used to believe Tom Brady was a once in a lifetime greatest athelete ever, until last year when Matt Cassel stepped in and I realized that it wasn't Tom Brady, but rather Bill Belichick and the Patriots, that made Tom Brady so good. And same for Cassel, i don't know if anyone cares [who cares about chiefs raiders] but he threw two picks against the RAIDERS.

Still, like many football/basketball players, Brady just happens to be in the right system for him, and because of that, he has had a hall of fame career. So i don't think its quite right to say that Brady is [was] not a great QB just because of the system or the O-line, because, quiet honestly the quarterback position is basically drop back three steps and throw a ball in a direction....there is not much the individual athlete can do other than make the right read [and most people can throw a good ball]. Its not like say reciever, where individual skill matters a lot because you have to be able to get off the line, fight the press, and beat out the coverage, then make the catch. That was completely off on another tangent but like i was about to say, Tom Brady, Ben Rothlisberger, and don't kill me, but Peyton Manning...all those guys would be crap without a good offense line and a good system. Because how can we really tell if Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are the best QB's ever when they have Matt Light [overrated btw] and Jeff Saturday blocking for them, Reggie Wayne and Randy Moss catching passes for them.

Its actually a really interesting thing to discuss, the role of individual talent versus the system/coaches in determining how good a player is. Its been on my mind a lot because I come from a town thats beaten its thanksgiving rival once in 18 tries, and now all of the sudden we get a new coach, new demeanor, new system, and we are blowing out the best teams in the state by 30 points? Its really made me question how important the actual players natural talents are.

and i was gonna say something else but i forgot. o well, this gets me warmed up to type that english essay 3.gif

Edit: O I was thinking of his brother. Somewhat pathetic that a) I don't know a historic player on my own favorite team and b) there was just a big deal about how underrated he was on TV a few days ago and I forgot about it.

Well now, I was quite surprised by your response, but glad you responded the way you did.  I thought maybe I might be stepping on your toes a bit with my feelings on this matter, but yes, I agree with a lot of what you said.  I'm wasn't trying to imply that these high-calibre QB's were talentless20.gif, just that if they didn't have that good protection up front, they wouldn't have had the success they've had.

For example, lets take Favre's 17 years with the Packers, which has never had a great offensive line, maybe a year here and there they did, but not consistantly like the Colts or Patriots.  Yet somehow Favre got it done, albeit he threw nearly as many interceptions as he did TDs [he only has about 150+ more TDs than interceptions].  Now think of what Favre could have done with an OL like the Patriots have had for the past several years?  I shudder to think of what his stats would have been.  600-700 career TDs?  Maybe less than 200 interceptions?  Quite possibly, but we'll never know.

As for silly name for the Eagles, that's not nice.20.gif

How about the Cowgirls?3.gif18.gif  Or the GB Peckers47.gif18.gif

What is it with all of the old Cowboy greats ripping Romo a new one?  First it was Emmit, then Aikman [i think I heard him say something not so flatering about Romo before the season started] and now Dorsett.  He's not very well loved by the former greats.

Wait...i called them the Iggles cause my parents are from pennslyvania and thats how they pronounce it 3.gif

does the word iggles mean something? [that would be awkward]. I'm not to sure if Brett Farve would be that much better with the Pats or Colts...when you've got a gunslinger, he doesn't really need that kind of time to "pick the defense" apart, he's more of guy who just knows where and how to throw it to any reciever [i'd like to think thats how I am thanks to my prolific gym class quarterbacking lol]

    Picks soon from me

glad i chose the lions, up 13 nil at halftime. How great will that be if they win?

Patriots leading 13-10, they finally got a TD. Great game so far, but add maroney and wilfork to the injured list. Is it just me, or do the patriots lose key players more frequently than other teams? Blame the karma police and spygate.

Tom missed Moss in the endzone three times so far. *facepalm*.
