I don't play any fantasy sports, so I guess this doesn't apply to me, but I had to announce it anyways3.gif  Seriously though, the Pats are just exposing on just how bad the Titans really are.  My goodness, you can't catch a ball when it hits you in the chest??  Seems like the Titans have caught the dropsies disease like the Packers have...

well hopefully i can stay in the top 2 despite missing this week, most of my picks were wrong anyways so maybe its a blessing in disguise3.gif

Pats dominating the titans. The most pathetic excuse for a football game i've ever seen. Its gotten to the point where I actually feel bad for tennesee.

And the patriots haven't even played "incredible". The Titans have just been dreadful....Brady set a record for TD passes in a quarter, safe to say he's back. I'd hope they'll bench him for the second half, i've been on the losing side of these kinds of games and you start hitting harder and playing more agressive when you're getting humiliated.

    Why is Brady still in?

    6th TD pass.

They will probably pull him now. 52-0.

HA HA CBS just switched to the Jets Bills game

Lol, now it's 59-0, 7 mintues left in the 4th quarter. Wow, is this the biggest shutout ever in the NFL, since the NFL merger?

Jets, Bills was a good game.

I would have perfered the see the Raiders beat the Eagles though 13-9.

You missed my point EB...competitive games are a penny a dozen, but blowouts like the Pats/Bills game are rare.  I would rather watch a blowout than another same ol' same ol competitive game.

my fantasy game is getting tense. Currently down 137-105.

I have Michael Turner and Nate Kaeding left.

    My opponent has Denver left.

So a 20-25 point game by michael turner [which is about 100+ yards, a touchdown, and a reception or two] and a good offensive game for san diego wins it for me.

This week could not have gone better for the Dallas Cowboys. Every team in the NFC East lost; the Giants lost to the Saints, the Redskins lost to the Chiefs (I called it4.gif , and the Eagles lost to the Raiders (seriously?). This will help Dallas Immensely as it tries to gain a foothold in the playoff race. However, I do think that we are required to remove the title "NFC Beast" from this division after the pitiful show it put on this weekend.

I know that not everyone got their picks on the deadline, but it isn't like we are playing for any kind of prize except for pride, so maybe we could grant the people who posted late some amnesty and let their picks stand. What it really boils down to, to me, is that what makes this picking league fun is having the competition/ friends to go against. Obviously, I don't think we should set a bad precedent for this, so after this week, we could strictly enforce the midnight deadline...and if everyone thinks this post is total rubbish, thats fine too 2.gif

What is wrong with the Eagles?

"Shanchize" name is waaay premature and already over-rated as a qb.

errr once again the chargers face a hole......well we can always win the wild card OR denver could fall like they did before. could that happen nope but i can hope that.

well at least we are not 0-6 and we do face the raiders and chiefs so it will be 4-3 in two weeks.

most importantly the thing that really counts is the new charger stadium. i don't care if they miss the playoff but staying in sd for another 50 years is very important!

lol someone sure is sensitive.  Seriously, I think you can rank Snyder as one of the worst owners in pro-sports, somewhere behind Jerry Jones and slightly above the Ford family and senile AL Davis.  According to writer Don Bank in his article sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/10/20/redskins/index.html Snyder has an "impeccable reverse Midas Touch.' Other than his knack for adding financial value to his billion-dollar-plus franchise, everything he touches turns into something considerably less than gold."  Can't blame the puppets when the puppet-master is not doing his job.

Also the article notes how Jim Zorn didn't really want the head coaching job. just the play-calling duties....and now his reputation is sullied and he no longer gets to call plays.  Can you say bad career move?

He is easily the most hated non-politician in the DC area.  There isn't even a close second.

A lot of players have left here and gone on to do very well in other places.  It's isn't the players.

Zorn was hired as the offensive coordinator.  When they couldn't get a good head coach to work for Snyder, they dumped that job on Zorn too.     He's not a bad guy; he just works for one.

Shouldn't it be a games back system like baseball? That gives us the right mix between "games total picked" and "success picking".

Then it would be sim shady in first, then me and blade2k5 tied for second a half game back.

cause its eaiser to just go with a winning percentage.

but you still need to pick ALL the games each week before the deadline.

I agree, although I must say it is quite irritating to have to see my ranking every week and have it broadcast that I missed a game so I am a game back.  Straight up, I missed the game because I copied someone else's template and did not bother to verify that every game was listed on there.  That is my fault, and as is such, I lost an opportunity to get a game right or wrong.  But really, lets cut the chase, no need for excuses for wins at the end of the season, just give me a wrong pick for the one I missed- that would put my total pickings for the season at 60-30.

Lol I wonder what we will do if two people tie for first at the end of the season?  Co-champs?  Having Peyton Manning and Steve McNair as co-mvps always annoyed me, I felt like it was a cop out by the voters who were too chicken to stand by one guy.  There are always multiple people deserving of the awards meted out at the end of sports season, or even in non-athletics awards, but you don't go about saying that two guys did a good job so they both get the award; that reminds me too much of grade school...lol I got off topic didn't I 3.gif

On another note, Marion Barber has a broken finger and Demarcus Ware has a stress fracture in his foot, but both are not expected to miss any time.  Still what a bummer, the Cowboys are getting absolutely hammered by injuries this year.

Most people here probably haven't heard of Steve Largent.  He is in the Hall of Fame as a wide receiver, having caught the vast majority of those passes from Jim Zorn about 25 - 30 years ago.    He and Zorn have remained BFFs over the years.   (They, their wives, and kids go on joint vacations and such.)   Largent was also a U.S. Congressman for 7 or 8 years so he's been around Washington, DC.

Anyway, Steve Largent says that Dan Snyder is trying to force Jim Zorn to resign so Snyder won't be liable for Zorn's contract any longer.  [link]

The way things stand right now, on Monday night, this new "consultant" will be calling the plays from the booth.  (Did I mention that this consultant is 67 years old and hasn't worked in the NFL for 5 years?)  This guy will be radioing the plays down to the offensive coordinator who will transmit into Jason Campbell's helmet while Jim Zorn stands there twiddling his thumbs.

Apparently Zorn is supposed to get so insulted at this that he quits.  I'm hoping he stands there and makes Dan Snyder pay him even if he is doing absolutely nothing.

How, exactly, is any head coach supposed to get the job done when he can't select the players or the assistant coaches?  Jim Zorn got thrown into this mess because no one else would take the job.   I imagine he is sorry he did.

I remember Steve Largent, great player.

If i  remember right Sherm Lewis wasnt that bad of a coach, but 5 years out is a long time.

think thats why Gibbs didnt last either, he had been out of the leauge even longer. ( besides  the snyder factor 2.gif.

this contract thing will last as long as Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and former coach Don Nelson's contract fiasco which is going on 7 years. 42.gif

Did John Cook just take the money and run after  Jack died? or were they forced out?

We have the same problem in Dallas the owner just does not let the coach have any say in how to run the team.

that why we havent had a good coach since Jimmy left.

Trust me were looking forward to Jerry Jones retirement and Stephen takes over. ( hes the current Cowboys Chief Operating Officer/Executive Vice President/Director of Player Personnel 2.gif

First time around, Gibbs had a general manager who was great at finding talented players and a team owner who had deep pockets and gave them free rein.   This was before salary caps and Jack Kent Cooke literally did not care how much money he spent on this hobby.  He would pay whatever was needed to get the players that Gibbs and Beathard said they needed.

Did John Cook just take the money and run after  Jack died? or were they forced out?  quote>

John Cooke tried to stick around and retain control of the team but the terms of his father's will made that difficult.  There was this bidding war with half a dozen different groups.   We were all a bit baffled as to why Jack Kent Cooke had so little faith in his sons.

Whatever happened to hiring people who know what they are doing and letting them do their jobs?

Joe Gibbs talked about this after he got into the NASCAR business.  He said he used to wonder what Mr. Cooke (and it was always "Mr. Cooke") got out of sitting on the sidelines during practice and not going near the field during the game. but, now that he owned his own team of race car drivers, he could see how it was fun.

(btw, he refers to Snyder as "Daniel" and managed to add just the right tinge of sounding like an angry parent.)
