Red Clay Hills

OK, now this is not that exciting. Well, it is sorta kinda exciting to me. So if you aren’t excited about it, just smile and nod politely and then talk about me behind my back. So I am working on an area in Harar for a future update. It has some steep hills in it. And I discovered much to my delight that I have red clay hills, just like we do in my homeland (Tennessee, though pretty much the whole southeast USA is Red Clay Central) , as evidenced by these RL pix:

And our rocky clay soil is immortalized of course in song, as noted below.

So imagine my surprise when I came across patches of red clay in the hills. And I don’t have a mod to turn the soil red. It just sorta kinda did itself. And I have not seen this before. Maybe because Schulmania does not have land this high. But, anyway, I felt like showing it to you because it made me happy.

First, some pix of it as I discovered it… with nothing on them but what the (Olympic) terrain mod gave it…

I decided to add some vegetation – kind of a shrubby-grassy mix…

Looks like a great place for a hunt!

So there will be a hunt update coming in Harar soon!

And there WILL be meat on the table tonight!

There are no Red Clay hills in my region, it's mostly Granite.

Gn_leugim Hornisse is just starting so we won’t see much for a while. But it has potential!

Lyhoko Leaci It’s hard to say. It does have a lengthy southern border with the modern canine state of Schulmauckland. So it is possible that there will be more modern stuff here.

The Wirdleplex: Glenvar

The special military district operated by the Bureau of Feline Affairs, The Wirdleplex, has grown to be more than a coastal defensive bastion. It occupies the southeastern region of the nation, administering the Schulminion lands between the Wirdleonia border all the way to Harar. This includes the strategic delta of the Wirdleonia River as well as the flatlands leading to the border. In the interior, the BFA has supervised construction of a massive new bridge across the Wirdleonia River, located at the Glenvar Narrows. A settlement began to accommodate the construction workers but it quickly grew to become a city in its own right. To facilitate settlement in the interior and to serve as an administration center, the city of Glenvar was built by the Bureau of Feline Affairs Division of Construction & Hairballs (BFADC&H).

The BFADC&H selected the Southern style of architecture for the town, in honor of Admiral Hestorb, whose namesake town of Hestorbia was the site of the development of this style of construction. The BFADC&H selected architect Ida Scratchedem to work with the City Planning Office and the BFA Military Command on the design. The Military Command wants a high capacity road connecting the site to Maxis Air Force Base, located about an hour north of town. The City Planning Office wants to have road links to Wirdleonia and BFA military outposts along the coast. At the request of the National Sports Authority, the BFADC&H will include a stadium, the first in The Wirdleplex. And of course the BFA will need an administrative office. BFA Governor-General H. J. “Hoppy” Franciflora personally conducted the grand opening ceremony for it when it opened.

The Bureau of Feline Affairs Administration Office – Central District, located at this prominent intersection, is at the focal point of the town. Central District administrators can often be found in the courtyard enjoying the sun or chasing pigeons, which beats sitting behind a desk pushing papers around.

The town itself is a vibrant outpost of feline culture

Homes, businesses, markets and more are scattered around the outskirts of town

A favorite is the rooftop café Los Pollitos. At Los Pollitos, you get tasty chicken at a great price, with a great view!

At Esquina Wirdiliana, many professional offices are located in the offices above ground level. At ground level is a supermarket, Trader Jose’s. In case you were wondering, Trader Jose’s is not affiliated with Trader Giuseppe’s supermarket in Robinia. But, Trader Jose’s owner’s cousin operates Trader Jozef’s in Schulmericho. Doesn’t that clarify everything nicely?

Cawale Academy, named after the famous Atkinos District governor, provides a top flight education for residents

Hopping John Stadium is located on the north end of town and is the only large sporting venue in the southeast. It is immensely popular.

Today features a race between horses and cheetahs. I think we know who will win this one…

Tired from the day at the stadium? Why not spend the night in the charming Hotel Evita? It is close by and very affordable.

Or, if you want to stay, how about moving into Whisker Towers, a new development in the heart of Glenvar?

Wherever you go in Glenvar, everything is convenient and easy to get to. So, come on by!
