    Hey, Tropod...  I don't remember if this was covered earlier in the thread or not, but the puzzle pieces (awesome, btw) brought it to my mind:

    What about diagonal network pieces and non-orthognal intersections/overpasses?  Will it be possible to have a horizontal road overpass a diagonal rail?  What about a NW/SE diagonal crossing a NE/SW stretch of network?  I've got the same question both for the puzzle pieces and for the automatically appearing overpasses (road over rail, ave over road, etc).

    Any plans to make these other combinations possible?
    quote>

    This is something that I'm wanting done, too. The thing is though, once anything goes diagonal against the grid, as opposed to going with the grid, the complexity involved increases 10 fold with the whole process [well maybe not quite that much]. So at the moment, myself personally I'm more focused on doing these things for the game for when following the normal square grid. This way we can get a lot of these things, overpasses etc, in the game & to you guys to use sooner rather than later.

    This project is great awesome astonishing! I love the look of the avenue one. Now I can create flyovers & evlevated avenues. After I get all my traffic modds sorted I will try the road versions out. Can't wait for the avenue versions!

    Why does one drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

    Why is delivery by boat called a cargo and one by land called a shipment?

    Tropod:
    I noticed using the puzzle pieces mod that you seem to have linked multiple items to a single menu button.
    Is this possible with elements that are NOT transportation/network-related?

    I just installed this mod and I love it!

    I was wondering if anyone has come up with cool ideas for avenue intersections. The difficulty is I want them to be as close to a freeway intersection as possible, but there's never any single road that crosses both sides of the avenue at once.

    Not important, but I'm playing and having a good time :)

    Oh and the new pathfinding just blows away anything we had before.

    @Equinox;
    Depends in what respect/capacity you might be thinking. Generally, I would have to say no. The Toll Booths are only Lot-based items that has an automatic function of some sort; something which I don't think anyone has actually bothered to take a look at [but these are transit-enabled, so that doesn't really help anyway].

    The file that controls this stuff, basically has the direct ability to allow the TAB'ing [or cycling] through the different types of overpasses/puzzlepieces. There's no other file like it I believe. For what [particular?] reason were you asking this for?

    @Mexicanboy13r;

    er, onewayroad over rail? Do you mean for Puzzle Pieces, or an actual whole overpass? The OneWayRoad over Rail overpass already exists in the mod that is currently up in mods section. If you're refering about my last picture, surely you can see that's an Avenue? Otherwise I am not to sure I understand what you're getting at?

    Great Chozo, time warner does suck, I just moved into a new place as well, in Waco, and they take weeks and I had to keep reschedruling cause theyd come at the most inconvienent times.  I don't know if they just suck in Texas or if they are like that everywhere.

    quote>

    It's not that they suck, they just have no sense of TIME. (which is funny because Time is a part of their monaker 42.gif, ah I just love irony)

    I actually enjoy having Roadrunner as it has been more reliable than DSL or any other internet service I have had. And I AM NOT GOING BACK TO DIALUP. Honestly Tropod, I don't know how you do it 28.gif 1.gif.

    I just transferred my account to a different address, which unfortunately, I have to have someone come out and hook up ONE connection, and flip ONE switch. For some reason I can't get this person out until June 15th, AND I could do this myself, but I don't want to sit in a jail cell. So here I am patiently counting the days.

    And about those avenue puzzle pieces, just stop it now, it hurts that I can't use these things and I REEEAAALLLLYYYYY want them. So here is a deal Tropod, you stop teasing me with these wonderful additions, and I will buy you a Roo Burger and a Fosters 44.gif. How about it.........10.gif.

    Yea I didn't think so, oh well. It is great work, keep surprising me.

    Ok; this is the latest PuzzlePiece plugin update:

    Remove the previous PuzzlePiece Plugin file, and use this one instead: This must be used in conjunction with the Main mod from the Mods section:

    NetworkAddonMod_PuzzlePiecesPlugin_B.zip

    This now includes Puzzle Pieces for various Road & Avenue overpass sections.

    OneWayRoad over GroundHighway normal overpass included [without on/off ramping]; should now be fully functional, for both Right & Left hand drive [ie should work for US & UK versions].

    The puzzle piece stuff is by no means complete [need to go for now3.gif; just wanted you guys to have something to play with in the mean time2.gif], and I will probably do an example using the Avenue Puzzle Pieces [for those that might have trouble using them]. In the mean time; please refer to here for an idea on how to use: Network Mod; Puzzle Pieces  [i have locked that thread for now, since I don't want people posting in it yet untill I can post up an example of using the avenue puzzle pieces].

    Please post any problems etc that you may have with them; but do NOT post regarding the TAB'ing problem with the first [End Puzzle] piece thanks. I am already aware of this. Some feedback would also be nice, like the Costs of building these things.

    Tropod,

    You are truly awesome. I have never been this riveted to a thread. I am now finding myself checking back religiously to find updates for these great mods that you create. I wish there were some way that I could contribute to the research and the creation of them but I am such a novice at modding, that I would just be in the way I think. Thank you sooooo much and keep up the great work. 9.gif

    As I was viewing the new highway stack interchages presented earlier, it occured to me that most of my traffic liked to turn off the main stream. However the current cloverleafs don't quite show that. Then I realized the Springfield Interchage.

    (For those that aren't acquainted with it, the Springfield Interchange is the notorious I-95/I-495/I-395/Old Keene Mill Rd/Franconia Rd dual-intersection (Those two roads are the exit so close to the south, it caused a whole lot of trouble - people from the outer loop had to cross three lanes of traffic to not exit off of 95). It's in the process of being improved, so that people going interstate won't exit out into the heart of Springfield.)

    Now (or shortly soon thereafter, it's still under construction) there are dedicated ramps for going from I-95 towards the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Here is what the intersection is supposed to look like near the end:
    phase7baa.jpg
    Ignore the multiple routes/coming going from the 'local lines' at the south (meaning ignoring the outer most lanes at the south end).
    Here is the link to the official site for anyone interested in attempting to create part of this (as I said, don't bother with the Old Keene Mill Rd. or Franconia Rd. portions): http://www.springfieldinterchange.com

    Thank you for the compliments 1.gif.

    Even though I have mentioned this in the documentation, I would just like to point out, in case some people might not be aware; that quite a number of people have helped with the contents of this mod, in one way or another, it is by no means all my doing [just incase some thought it was]. Special considerations/thanks especially goes to Redlotus and the the7trumpets, for they too have/do put quite a considerable amount of time and effort in with some aspects of the file, and have been pioneers for us with some of this traffic related stuff.

    @Xurros;

    Yep, the developing along side the overpasses was one of the things noticed with the very first overpass made [one done by Redlotus]. Personally, I like it, though some may not. The exact same thing actually happens with the games original/proper bridges [not overpasses].

    @Casper3141;

    I thought about this, both of them. I would not have thought/think that Puzzle Pieces for the Streets would be all that good of an idea to do, since it wouldn't really be that realistic in some ways [least from my point of view anyhow] to have raised streets.

    As for the onewayroad puzzle pieces; right now am I a little hesitant about making puzzle pieces for them, simply because of how the Pathing System works for/with Onewayroads in general. I am still two-minds really whether having puzzle pieces for onewayroads would actuallly be a bad/good idea, especially considering how they would have to be implemented. I'll let you guys know of anything regarding this though if/when my two-minds become one again 18.gif 2.gif.

    Wow, greatwork tropod, HOwever, will you be making railway puzzle pieces, such as viaducts? Or just normal ones, there are several places where the rail goes over the road in the UK. Just and idea.

    This link>> NetworkAddonMod_PuzzlePiecesPlugin_B.zip

    or alternatively; the full URL: http://www.ftc.net.au/tropod/NetworkMod/NetworkAddonMod_PuzzlePiecesPlugin_B.zip

    Works just fine for me, and others by the looks of it [i tested it again just now].

    EDIT: Just a note to anyone/everyone in general; if you are browsing through the pages of this thread, and a particular link [for a file] does not work, then chances are there is a more upto date file/version [either in this thread or up in the mods section], and the URL of where [a previously linked URL] file resided has since been removed/deleted. Generally a file or feature will be mentioned and a file posted/linked to in this thread before it is included/mentioned in the main mod.

    @mikeyb66;

    With these latest dvelopments happening; sure, I can't see why not. The thing to remember here is; if it's a Puzzle Piece you'll be restricted in some ways. You can't place anything on a Puzzle Piece [like a Train Station or Toll booth for example]. So the railway line would not be able to be raised if you were to use something like one of marrast train stations [where the Lot actually sits on the tile(s) where the network is, as opposed to next to it]. Still, I can't see any reason though why you wouldn't be able to make a Raised Train station [[ooh think about the possibilties6.gif]. This'll be something that might take some time doing though, as some things may have to be done fresh from scratch.

    Tropod - I'm stunned.  Speechless.  What this Puzzle Piece thing has done to my cities is beyond description.  I feel like I finally can lay networks in 3-D!   Bunnies, nothing.  We're in Golden Llama territory.  This mod is freaking unreal.

    I hope the single-sided offramp thing doesn't get forgotten in the hubbub.  No pressure though, it gets here when it gets here.

    Hey,
    I love your network addon tool but I have had trouble with the latest offering. The Road, OW road & avenue overpasses aren't working and that is the case for all the other interchanges except the rail ones. Could someone please tell me why is it doing this and what files do I need and if some one could link them in their post. Thanks heaps.

    Tropod, regarding the pathfinding mods. The 10xSpeeds options, do they include bus, rail and other alternative transportation, because I have notice that all other form of transportation fell off while the car transportation went up. I have removed all other transportation type mods, so conflicts cannot be the problem.

    lakeyboy, you most likely have conflicts with mods that you have downloaded in the past. For example, I had the same problem. Turns out, I had an old Monorail over elevated rail .dat file in my custom lots directory for some reason, and thats what was causing the problems. Just go through all (And I mean ALL) of your plugins, look for anything suspicious, and put a few plugins back at a time, and test your game. Eventually, you can narrow your search down, and by process of elimination, find the dirty little... well... culprit. 3.gif

    BTW... if you like the lakers, I have 2 things to say to you.

    1. Lakers suck. 3.gif
    2. You're gonna looooooooose! 2.gif

    This is what I call engineer gone wrong 17.gif

    /idealbb/files/EngineeringGoneWrong.JPG

    Don't ask me how....I am guessing it's because of the way the terrain was there that this happened. It's not something that happens all the time it seems. Seems more like a freak occurrence. In any event, it's a funny site to see.....I can just imagine the sign on the road; Steep decent, go slowly 18.gif17.gif

    This is my first post and thank you guys for this wonderful mod. Its made playing Sim City a dream lol. Well anyways I was just wondering if it was possible to make a mod that allows elevated rail to travel directly on roadways eg. like how the Els are in New York City and Chicago. Thanks
