  1. 10 Words That Dont Exist, But Should

acrodysentary - (n.) sickness of heights thing-a-ma-bobber-wacha-ma-call-it-do-hickey (n.) (NOTE: other permutations may exist) what you say when you don't know the name of something basises (pl. n.) - plural of basis. I tried to use it and variations for five minutes before I turned to my dictionary.
  2. NAM General Discussion Thread

Most of the pictures in this thread have to do with either an upcoming, or a current version of the NAM. As for the next release of the NAM, that is probably mostly up to Tropod.
  3. Major Computer/SimCity4 Performance (Win. XP)

Sure the XP theme is ugly, but how would I get java's metal theme to show up on XP? And btw, it's classic style
  4. Climate change - Worse than Predicted

*yells to calm everyone down* 1. No, we're not going to die. 2. Yes, this is a major issue. 3. No, we're not going to die. 4. Yes, this is a major issue. (Sorry in advance if I'm incoherent; I'm watching election results) Yes, CO2 levels are on the rise, yes, temperatures are on the rise, but how much does that matter? It is certain that at least part of that rise is due to human interaction. But as so many people have pointed out, we'd have to give up so much stuff to do that, and this is also partly natural. Some facts: 1. It is often roughly the same expense to clean out the first 50% of a pollutant than it is to clean the next 25%. 2. Trees can only absorb carbon dioxide for two years before the lack of nutrients get them. Often, that carbon goes back into the year in only three years (if used in leaves) Yes, the US is a big part of the cause. Why? We use big pollutants: (NOTE: FOLLOWING ARE GENERALIZED STEROTYPES. I AM NOT SINGLING OUT ANYBODY) I've seen, just by riding the bus, how many people sit in cars for ten-twenty minutes waiting for the bus - and it's only 30-50 degrees out!!!! Could you wait outside, like I used to have to do (I get driven to school by my sister... she has mentorship; she has to drve)? Yes, other countries are also responsible. But we cause lots of problems, and we do little to fix them. So, US (myself included), you're going to carry the brunt of the blame until we do something about it.
  5. NAM General Discussion Thread

Date:11/2/2004 5:16:42 AM Author:Tropod As for the Highway Path issue/bug; Yes, it does seem that the Elevated Highway is missing a Path for a particular file (& yes, it is fixable. I wonder why no one has noticed it prior to this though , seems a bit odd). Seems also that the Ground Highway has a similar pathing issue, except at a lower height. I've already located the problem file(s) for this & a fix for it should make its way into a release (in the very least, it'll be included in the NAM). quote> YAY!!!! It does seem perculiar that no one noticed it before, but probably either most people thought it was resolved or most people didn't know it existed...
  6. NAM General Discussion Thread

Great to know I'm not insane... I tried getting a pic of it, but stupid paint crashed... oh well. What's the probability of getting this to work? And I had another thing, but I forgot what it was.

Date:10/31/2004 5:13:15 PM Author:Pkmnrulz240 Date: 10/31/2004 4:44:26 PM Author: iMacWin95 GREAT TROPOD!!! Just a wonder, there seems to be a remote problem in UDI where if you're in the inside of a highway in a curve, sometimes, and it doesn't appear to happen frequently, you get bumped into the next lane. I've personally encountered that only once, but it always happened in the same place, every single time. . Is it possible to fix that? And btw, when's the next stable release of the NAM coming out? (Roughly) quote> Wait... so, if you've only encountered it once, how do you know that it happens every single time? quote> Perhaps I should rephrase that: I've only seen it in one spot, but every (and I do mean every) single time I UDI it in the inside lane, it always switches me into the center. I think I've deleted that city, but I'll check (heck, I need to do some testing anyways) to see if I can grab a snapshot of it...

  9. NAM: Requests

t7t, if you have time, could you somehow make an indication of which of the requested items are in the mod?
  10. NAM General Discussion Thread

d.nikita, I would also like to welcome you to Simtropolis, but your signature seems to be a bit too long. In response to your double-decker highway question, yes people have been trying, but it's not easy. It's like trying to create an entirely new type of transit from scratch. P.S. There's something called the edit button. Please, use it.
  11. fun screen shots

Only 14,000 cars? Man, I wish my highways had that much space... I catch them at ~35000-40000... I had one point at which my commute time was 800... minutes! I'll try and find that pic for you (or recreate it... that's how desperately I need the NAM)
  12. The Query Doctoring Thread

Erm... Would anything bad happen if I had three IGZWinGens? (The outer one and two inner ones)
  13. The Query Doctoring Thread

This may sound stupid but here goes: How do I add a set of properties (like adding # of teachers to a hospital...), so that it links up properly?
  14. Traffic City

Note to self: change testing NAM mod to regular extra-capacity, extra-speed mod. When I changed that mod, my commute time jumped to ~800 (yes, 800 minutes), and there was almost no sight of green. Ouch! Double-decker highways are, I believe, one of the NAM puzzle pieces long-term goals. If someone mentioned two-network pieces (like el-rail on road), there's work going on those puzzle pieces. My $20.

*FOR THE LAST TIME* Please, please READ the posts before you submit. Citisweeper was nice enough to post a review post for the people. **THE CITY HAS ALREADY BEEN DECIDED!**
