Highway and NAM Puzzle Piece Walls

I started making a Highway and Ramp retaining wall for the Raised Road Off ramp Puzzle Piece. It works for sunken highways and for a ground level highway with an overpass. Here is a picture, which shows a preview of the first (and only) beta lot I have made on a sunken highway:

0000.jpg

The wall is not part of the ramp, and is plopable. They wall is an overhanging model with a 1x1 lot one tile away from the ramp.  This is the first piece I made, and I will (eventually, RLS permitting) make walls for other NAM Puzzle Pieces and maybe a sunken highway wall set depending on if people want it or not. If you have any requests for NAM puzzle pieces you want walls for, or if you want different textures, then post in this thread.

I would love this piece as is, and the only thing I could suggest might be to move the inner wall further, so it lines up with the highway edge, and looks like one piece. Absolutely great job here!

What a wonderful idea and a great looking set! If you do make a set of sunken walls, would it be possible to make an under-ramp piece that extends to the wall and blends in to an on-slope piece to 'fill in' the gap between the ramp and wall? Just curious... Great job so far!

For the pople asking about moving the wall: The wall has to be like that or the support from the original ramp shows through and makes a strange blend with the wall. The top of the support is still visible near the intersection.

jugioh1012:The mod is the dashed roads mod and can be found here scroll down some and there is a link

    New Update

I made new pylons for the Blank terrain pieces and a wall for the start/end pieces

Here is a picture of them both together:

If you want any changes or new pieces post a request.

I like what you are doing, looks great so far! However, I would like to make a suggestion or two.

First, the support columns in the middle are too big. I understand that the NAM puzzle pieces have big supports that need be covered up, however at them moment it looks too big.

Second, I like that texture you have on there, however generally in the real world the materials used are more suited for load bearing structures. Instead of standard bricks, hexagons are used. The following photo (from Live Local) demonstrates the standard wall design.

I do have an idea that you may or may not like; another lot that covers the grass portions next to the RHW under the bridge.

These are only some suggestions though, for improvement of your existing work.

I have to disagree, the supports look fine in size, This is a great project, very realistic. Although Frankiegrove's suggestion about texture makes sense, and is more realtistic. Good luck on this.

    New Update

I have redone the textures to be more realistic, and I have made a couple new pieces.

Here is a wall for a straight avenue over a diagonal avenue:

I have also began to make “blocks” to go under the corner and straight pieces but have not got the dimensions right yet. Here is my current progress:

Looks nice! This should be an NAM plugin so you don't have to plop it on all the ramps though. That would be even more awesome 9.gif

Oh YES! This is great! Would be a perfect addition to the NAM, as not all elevated roads do have pillars. Maybe there could be a 2 options- it's up to you what style you use: the one with pillars, or the walled- ones. Moreover, just personally speaking 4.gif, it' d be great if you did some highway sound walls (both el and gr hwy; both of with diagonal, too) with the same design (+slope conforming) which really get as close as possible to the highway itself. They would nicely fit to the concrete base of the road-puzzle-pieces! Just an idea.

Looking very much forward to further development,

    that's awesome...great work!!!

The textures are great... In the game I hate to see the blank spaces under the piecies and the pillars are a little bit ugly!!!

    keep on the good work!!

Well, the project is still under development by Xyloxadoria who hasn't made a post here since early March.  This is still a work in progress and will take some time to complete before a release.

Xyloxadoria, I to would like to show you that I am appreciative of this project as well.  I, along with many others, cannot wait until it is finished!  Keep up the great work!

    Best,

    New Update

Well i have been busy with RLS for a while, so this isn't that big of an update, but i just want to say that I am still working on this. Here are two more walls that i have made (click on them to see the full resolution)

I have made start/end walls for one way and road

    0006.jpg

I have also began to make sunken higway walls, so far i have only made an avenue exit piece:

    0007.jpg

I also figured out how to make the straight piece look seamless for ave. (I haven't figured out the corner i showed in my previous post yet) Here is a pic of it:

    0008.jpg

I will probably make the rest of the sunken highway walls next, then try to figure out the diagonal NAM puzzle pieces.
