SimCity Creator on Development

The Electronic Arts announced the Sims series of games that are in development. Dentre eles, apareceu o novo SimCity, chamado até agora de “ SimCity: Creator ”. Among them, the new SimCity appeared, until now called the "SimCity: Creator."

 

The SimCity Creator doesn't have a forecast for release, bur must leave by March 2011.

Hmm, could be anything really...it could code name for another simulation game, an expansion pack for SCS, or a building architect tool for that matter. Its hard to tell from that page, but 2011 seems a little far off for all three of those suggestions.

From the sounds of the name and its corelation with Societies, my guess is it's not but will be another attempt at making a casual game.  From the couple of announcements I've read, they seemed to make it a point that EA is now a casual game producer so...  but details are sparse and all I have right now is speculation.

We can hope, tho, can't we?

Ha.  We won't get any pictures for years.  And by 2011, computers may be obsolete - we will all be playing SC on our fourth generation iPhones

They probably won't start development until July of 2010 though.......

March '11, I'll only have a few months to play, because I DO plan on going to college. But then again people here are in college so meh it could work, besides I have a few excuses to get a new PC, graduation present, college requirement, new game...I'm getting too ahead of myself here.

Standing by hoping they spend some good time on this, I don't expect development to start in a day after announcement but if they get in the "few years" margin I'm all for it.

Hmm...from what it sounds like, it doesn't sound promising. EA is bent on exploiting every last $$$ out of The Sims, and SimCity Creator won't be the all-powerful SimCity 5 we've all been dreaming about.

Hopefully they'll learn from the mistakes they made in SimCity Societies, which let's face it turned out to be a bit of a flop. I'd hope for something more customisable, less griddy and just a generally more SC4 orientated program. The SimCity franchise took a step back from SC4 to SCS, now let's hope they build on their failiure and enhance SC4.

I've been rather curious about the whole SimCity Creator bit too, but I'm going to have to second the majority here and say that the chances of it really being the kind of game we expect are slim, if possible at all. A chimpanzee can be a crowdpleaser, but he can't write a form letter. Likewise, it's really illogical to expect a crowd pleasing EA to actually deliver a piece of intelligent art... unless that's what the crowds prove they want of course, which really winds up coming back to what we're doing as an SC community to stomp on their toes at present.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what this new title's all about.

sim-maire for your information will wright was long gone from SC when SC3000 came out.

Some guys really can't understand SCS is just a "cheap way to make money for EA" It's more casual. You see. They just want to milk as much money as they can from the majority. They destroyed SC cause of that.

About Simcity creator. We don't even know what this game is. How can we even predict what it's gonna be.

SimCity Creator does in my ears sound like a Spore-alike BAT, which they hope to be the main tool for RL architects.
