I've had to read your anti-SCS rhetoric all over this board, which is already enough to put me off on posting here regularly. You can give it a rest. If someone has interest in a game leave them alone, I don't see the need to get offensive about it.

ILikeSeattle, I just checked -- there is a venue called "Public Pool". It's identical to the picture for the expansion.

Very funny stuff. I know a couple of friends who hate god games but they never quite had a sense of humor in explaining their frustration as he does.

bourneid, I believe I've been misunderstood as I wasn't comparing the two games in terms of quality, I was comparing the fans. I was simply arguing against the notion that SC4 players are a "tad bit smarter" because they wouldn't buy numerous expansions. If EA had decided to stay the course with SC4 and pump out a handful of extra expansions -- everyone here would own them all. This is going to happen with fans of anything, regardless of the quality of the original game. Fans of SCS will buy SCS expansions and fans of SC4 will do the same for their game. This is the primary reason why The Sims continues to sell expansion packs -- the fans of the game love it and will continue to buy it -- I highly doubt the majority of those sales are coming from new costumers. In fact, the dedication of SC4 fans would make one believe that the expansions would sell like hot-cakes. The original is still in the top 10 for goodness sake.

Bluebeard, that seems to be a bit of a downplay on what Rush Hour provided to the community, isn't it? I mean, compare the work of the community before and after that expansion pack. Can you imagine if Maxis made more? Money-Money-Money!

Oh I am quite sure if SC4 had like 3 more expansion packs, the vast majority of the people here would have bought them right away -- regardless of the time span in which they came out.

What are your particle settings on? I noticed that with "low", only important particles are shown -- while stuff like rain gets thrown out the window.

In the top-left corner of your UI (near the mini-map), is a button called something like "Special Map Displays". When you click on it, it shows all the different icons that are displaying above your city. I believe three are set on by default. Click on those to make them go away. Then simply hit F12 and you've got only the display of your city.

You can make custom maps, there is just no in-game terraforming tool. All the work needs to be done outside of the game, on a greyscale image -- you load it up and the game makes a map based on your image. So although it requires more effort, custom maps are possible to make. People have already created maps based off of New York, Seattle, and other locales.
