  1. I really hope that they implement a Constructive Solid Geometry algorithm for the networks that are being laid on the terrain. CSG cut's a hole in the terrain where needed based on for example the road geometry. This way, it will be very easy to create beautiful slopes without 'terrain dependent' jagged edges like you see in most of the train simulators these days. When you make a sunken highway, the edges of that highway will be cut in the terrain. Perfect smooth corners with a perfect align slope included.
  2. SimCity: Gameplay

If i wanted to play a ANNO game, i buy ANNO. I want to play Simcity.. a City simulator based on realism as much as possible. Why do developers always try to mix their brilliant game with another brilliant game. I mean.. 1+1=2 (overkill).. Just leave that stupid idea out of the game. It is a city simulation game. First finish all that's not implemented yet.. after that add 'optional' game scenarios like this. I'm not going to play that industrial v.s. high-tech game anyway. Never...
  3. SimCity 5 Features and System Requirements

Wooooot! € 80,- to plop the EVIL tower (eiffel tower)??? Nahh.. Please stop making casual games for 1 cell brained kids. I want a complicated, hard to work on, but incredible worthfully and rewarding to play .. because then, you CREATE something yourself. Please, remove ploppable stupid towers. I want my own unique city. With simple tools and converters to create game content myself. The first thing many people probably will do.. is replace that retarted Pixar Stadium. sorry, but people play Simcity 4 because of it's realistic gameplay.

Please Dirk, pressure them! - Get rid of ploppable gamestyle - Get rid of themed cities - Get rid of forced online (CITIES UNLIMITED copy!) .. oh man the developers these days .. are they really that stupid?!

Sorry for my late reply, but in the past few months I've seen the CityMania title everywhere on the web. That wasn't really my intention. The first idea with that title was to show you that everything is possible and you shouldn't be limited on what 'people think'. Motivation is the big word. Yes you need money, yes you need time, but the big word is motivation....or willingness. But, the game grew, 2 great devs joined me. No, there is no 'red line' in sight yet, but that will change. We are touching something, nobody 'wants' or 'dare' to... Somewhere in the main topic i also stated that this development can take years (even 5 years!) before 'something' playable rolls out. But i dont care.. as long as there is something to look out for, as long we know that there is actually somebody, doing something.. It's almost a years since i started that topic on sc4devotion, and showed that with 'little' we can do a lot... What i can promise, is that; yes we are busy with it, and yes there will come a red line.. things will get more structured as time passes by. The devs are exploring all options, so i want to give everyone a free hand for now.. In the near future i want to structure the whole project a lot more. Yes, we will get our own project website (but we remain on the sc4devotion forums). This is what i wanted to say. I wish the other projects good luck!

I aint doing it.. as long as i'm alone .. The only thing i'm doing now is creating a design document

Well what movie are you talking about? I can't see a thing, the site, on the site www.simcities.com there seems to be a lot of advisements..

The way it is in SC4. I know that as technology advances, people think 3D should be easy and imprlemented in all games. But, if you kept it in 2.5D you could focus more on the actual gameplay, and add detail and stuff to buildings. Again, this is just a question. I have no idea about programming or anything related to it. It just seems to me that making a game in 3D is harder and more demanding on computers? I think that even if a good 3D engine with great graphics was made, that I would still rather have a city building game in 2.5D. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, if you are serious about creating a game, make a topic where people could post ideas, because I have a few that haven't really been mentioned much. Ideas for gameplay that is, not about building and programming a game. quote> Anno 1404 (play the demo) is an example about how we could use 3d instead of 2.5d.. with isometric views you'll have to render and render a lot of individual buildings in order to let them apear. Let's use 3d and take the Anno 1404 engine as an example to develop. Just fitted zoom levels, no 'streetview'..

Well the name is not the biggest problem. It's people with skills and motivation to form a team.
  10. Simtropolis 1000

Hello there, Ive been arround for a while... a couple of months ago i atempt to create a new (open source) city building game. It was called.. Open Simcity. This was just a test for me, if it was/is posible to create a game for this genre just by myself. I can assure you that a 'team' is needed to create such games. There is no way people can do it alone. (example video's below) So here i am. I left that game for what it was and moved on. But still, i think.. this community has so many members. It should at least be possible to begin creating a 3d simcity game with some few members of this community (who have programming knowledge, im sure they are here!) . The 2 above video's where created using microsoft's XNA framework. This framework is pretty amazing.. easy to use. Take a look at it (here). I opened this topic to see IF there are people intrested.. even if you are a modeler (designing 3d models) you possible can help. So, what do you say? This project can take years, but i don't care.. as long we 'atleast' try. I can't say anything about CitiesXL.. yes i've been playing the beta and i'm a little disappointed.. sorry can't say why and cant post screenshots.. it's simply not what i was looking for. .Very realistic city simulations.. with complete freedom of making roads.. from ideas that came from this community (lane upgrades, and unique settings).. to custom content.. realistic intersections.. and not cartoonish... ARE YOU OUT THERE?.

I suggest C# (sharp) as you can learn it quickly if you know C++ already. C# has a lot of nice programming comfortability
  12. Ehm, just play?

It worked the last few hours, i paid 18 dollars for FilePlanet (to get a key).. didn't want to guess words all night so i just paid for a key..
  13. Ehm, just play?

I can not play offline also .. thats the whole deal.. they make it internet dependable .. while i only try to play 'offline'.. so we still need a internet connection to play offline.. thats kinda weird don't you think?
  14. Registering?

don't worrie, after you've registered the game, you will need to login 'online' to 'activate' you account also.. with other words.. you cant play the game if you haven't activated your account before they went down.. I doubt they will go online before tomorow (9am CET) because it's night here in Europe.. and Monte Carlo is based in Europe..... -1 for monte carlo
  15. Ehm, just play?

Well, i don't know how you guys (with a beta key) do it, but i can not play the game @ all.. I login on the splash after clicking the application icon on my desktop The game starts up and everything is just fine But then in yellow letters: "LOGIN ONLINE TO ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT" and "connected to disconnected" just stands there for at least 30 minutes by now.. So.. well okay... uh i can't do anything, there is no close button.. there is nothing.. just the screen with that text beneath it. So i went to beta.citiesxl.com for what? well .. logging in.. but wait.. lol.. i can't!! because they're down! .. hold on a minute, they say we still can play the game, but we can't .. as we need to LOGIN to ACTIVATE .. the account.. great! Now it's night and everyones to sleep.. and we'll have to wait till tomorrow.. great job!! just paid 18 dollars for nothing.. ?
