Rumors have been spread over the last few days, and the NAM Team was working diligently behind the scenes to get the next NAM version ready for release. This is the first time that we are releasing a NAM Update, rather than a new full version. The June 2007 NAM was the first that has been made modular, so only updated components need to be replaced by this update. Please note that you need the June 2007 NAM version as a dependency for this update, otherwise some items will not work properly. Before your run off in excitement and install the new NAM version, please make sure to read the included readme first and then take action, otherwise some things might go wrong

What's new?

- Elevated (heavy) Rail puzzle pieces completely revamped, three different texture styles available, some new pieces added.
- Underground Rail puzzle pieces with Ped Malls have been added.
- Increased connectivity for Avenue Roundabout and Avenue Roundabout with Elevated Highway overpass puzzle piece have been added.
- Smooth Avenue Curve puzzle pieces have been added.
- Reworked textures for smooth Road and Rail Curves.
- Raised Avenue Bridge has been added.
- RHW (Rural Highway mod, released as individual plugin) is now independent of ANT tool.
- NAM Controller contains RULs for updated
- RHW (Rural Highway mod) and SAM (Street Addon Mod) plugins (released separately).

Also released was a new Additional Bridge, the Garabit Viaduct by paulvmontfort

The Garabit Viaduct (Viaduc de Garabit in French) is a railroad arch bridge spanning the Truyère river near Ruynes-en-Margeride, in the mountainous Massif Central region. The bridge was constructed between 1880 and 1884 by Gustave Eiffel, with structural engineering by Maurice Koechlin, and was opened in 1885. It is 565 m in length and has a principal arch of 165 m.

For using the Garabit Viaduct in the game, you either need the NAM Update or the updated NAM Essentials.

Download here!

More NAM releases will follow soon - stay tuned, and a Happy New Year 2008! 39.gif

I've been out of touch from Simtropolis for almost a year, but I'm back here to thank the NAM team for their unwavering dedication to the NAM project, and all the countless hours they've invested in making NAM a possible reality instead of just an impossible dream. NAM has made cities look more realistic with amazing additions and modifications to transport / commute related pieces in SimCity 4, making many awesome CJs look even more awesome with the help of NAM. To many, Simcity 4 is never Simcity 4 without NAM, seriously 9.gif here's a big thank you and a happy new year to everyone, especially those who've worked hard from the NAM team! Thank you so much.

Anyway this is not a comeback for me. Botania is kind of dead - I'm just reluctant to conclude it. May everyone have a smooth-sailing 2008, especially to those who are still keeping their CJs alive! I'm really impresed by CJers because they really spend loads of effort in making things interesting. Kudos to everyone.

I think the current RHW has some compatibilty issues, which will be fixed in v20.

But the SAM and RHW are well worth the download

So, do you need it to install the new updates?

@bbfan02: As warrior explained, the new NAM is intended for using with the new SAM Beta v2 (which just got released) and the upcoming RHW v20. You can use the new NAM already, only the RHW stuff might be not usable until the new RHW is installed.

@joeynymets: This is a modded station, based on morifari's Victorian El-Rail stations (available at the STEX). The modded rail station is not available yet, but as soon as I have the chance to package it, it will be released as well.

I'm not sure if I should truly be posting this here, but in neither recents NAMs for me, i have not got anything new whatsoever (so no avenue roundabouts, but yet they still appear on the game menu) and I followed the installations instructions as close as I could for the past 2 times of uninstalling a reinstalling. Do you have any tips for me? It would be most appreciative. And also, another question, I have in my plugins folder the zipped folder for both the June 2007 and the Jan 2008 and the actual folder. Is there one that I need or don't need?

Okay, you should have read the first post. In bold it says "Please note that you need the June 2007 NAM version as a dependency for this update, otherwise some items will not work properly. Before your run off in excitement and install the new NAM version, please make sure to read the included readme first and then take action, otherwise some things might go wrong"

That means you should have that first, and it can be found here (link)

BTW if you have the June 2007 NAM and January 2007 NAM, remove the January version, they dont like each other and thus it wont work correctly. You should also download NAM essentials. And dont forget to run the installers.

Howlin' at the moon.

Hi everyone-

The new version of the Rural Highway Mod (RHW), RHW v20, is now available on the STEX!

misteaser122520073sp6.jpg

That's some of the stuff you can now do with the RHW.  The much-anticipated Modular Interchange System (MIS) is now included in this version, along with many other new features.  Be sure to check out the Readme, as well as Filasimo's fantastic new RHW Reference Guide for a list of new features and how to use them.  (You also no longer need the ANT Plugin, which has been assimilated into the RHW mod.)

If you have any questions, feel free to stop by our official Development/Support thread at SC4D.

And you probably want some links to the new version:

Happy NAM . . . er . . . New Year everyone!

Best,

Tarkus

    Update Notice

Unfortunately, the wrong Garabit Viaduct model got uploaded. The version on the STEX is being updated right now and should be available within the next few minutes. Also included is a small path fix. To update your files, simply download and run the new installer, overwriting your old files. It might be necessary to bulldoze any old Garabit Viaduct bridges first. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I don't often post on this board, but I just wanted to say brilliant work.  Absolutely brilliant work.  This is one SimCity 4 fan that thinks what you do is simply amazing and that I really appreciate it.

I am having a problem involving the NAM.  I cannot place an avenue roundabout, draggable GLR, Avenue w/ GLR, Underground Railroad, and possibly a few other things.  They show up in the menu, but when I select them, my cursor turns red, there is not 'ghost' of the object visible, and it will not let me place or press anything until I select something else.  I also cannot dispatch vehicles other than "My Sim"s vehicle.  It did this same thing on my older PC.

I have tried reinstalling SimCity 4 and the NAM, but neither options work.  Please help!

Also, I am certain that I do not have multiple NAM mods installed.
