Actually, it's very interesting to see this thread unburied from its depths. I have not BATed in awhile because I have been building up my skills in 3D modeling, and I have learned a lot. I will soon start BATing again, and I appreciate your liking for my BATs. I will hopefully be alive again here on ST, posting buildings of a newer and higher quality to better suit its users. I will officially re-open this thread to post all new content and open up all requests. It's been awhile, so please remember that when this is posted, all posts before this may or may not be irrelavent. Thank you, and hope to see you guys again soon!

FreeWaves is a game project that will revolve around the creation of a virtual world. Imagine a game where you could type in an address, and you would end up there virtually. If you've ever used Google Maps and its "POV" function, it's almost like actually being there. But, what if you could do anything once you got there? Meet new people, build a house, blow up a house, buy a car, get a 'job', etc. The best part, is it would be completely without consequence. Truck Driving Simulators, Madden Pro Football, The Sims. All of these games are great simulators, but what if it was all wrapped up into one HUGE network of people living in a virtual world, where you can be whatever you wanted to be? And it doesn't have to stop there, what if it moved on to even more games, like fighting in wars, traveling to other planets, building civilizations? A game with endless possibilities where you would be free to control, dominate, and create without cause or limitation. And the best part, it would be completely free to use. Right now, that's the idea. There are a few people on our team willing to work towards the creation of this game, but it's not nearly enough. We need recruits to help make this dream a reality. If you have ANY talent related to programming, modeling, music composition, etc., we may have a place for you. Any help would be very appreciated. I know right now my idea may not be as clear as can be, but feel absolutely free to ask questions. In fact, the more questions asked, the better. Thanks! Please visit Freewaves.net for more information!

The above pic reminds me of a scene from the game, 'skate'.

Just my opinion, I think downtown is a little too under construction. A lot of cranes, and some of them too brightly colored. Not an insult though, just my opinion. I personally like the crane over the hexagonal building because it looks the best, butyou didn't make these cranes so I know you can't do much about it. The stadium with the big parking lot looks cool. It's very realistic to have it near the waterfront where the fireworks could give a big finish or beginning to a big game.

I would love to convert some of my models for Cities XL. It might be fun!
-
*whew*, that's a relief. I think that's what made City Life kinda off-set of being cool. Otherwise, I did like the new way your made roads and such. However, there needs to be railroads, subways, bus stops, etc. And probably a kick-start on custom content. Do people already make content?

You know how there's the blue collars and white collars and rich and poor? I don't remember what they're called and don't have enough time to look it up, but will this separation be in Cities XL as it was in City Life? I never liked having to provide separate jobs and housing for these people. Makes the game much less fun. In SimCity, anybody could live anywhere (except SC5).

I don't know how popular this will be, but I think it will be a great idea to help people learn how to BAT, and learn new methods of BATing. Here, you would post a video of your PC Screen (you could use HyperCam, it's free). You would BAT as normal as HyperCam (or another program) video-tapes you BATing. I think this will greatly benefit newcomers or current BATers. Sorry, I do not have one, but I will post one soon. For hosting the video, you could use imageshack, (also free).

Scipio: The stained glass windows look really neat. I would assume coming up with a design for the windows must be pretty tough, in addition to making them. Delija21: The mixed glass shape is really neat. Did you use separate glass shapes or boolean? illTonkso: I know in reality the different glass textures are different, but I think the subtlety in difference is better that way. However, you should post a side-view.

The BAT4Max only works on 3DSMax 4-6. I have 9, so where can I go to get a more recent version?
-
Hey guys, I have a quick question. I'm planning to start my modeling in 3DS Max 9, and I was wondering what the differences are? I know there are quite a few, but also if I'm going to do this, you mentioned a script that allows me to export straight from Max? Where is it, and how would I install/use it? Also, I usually model my nightlights by hand. Every single window, which can be both good and bad, bad being that it takes a while. Good being that everything is how you want it. Anyways, this method has gotten me pretty far in high-quality BATing, but I would like to know how this randomize textures thing works. This is how far I've gotten with hand-made night lights: I did the same thing to the other side. The reason one wall looks darker than the others is because of the way I re-made it for the nightlights. I'm going to do the same for the other walls.

Jayo: I would add some kind of roof-access, and maybe some pipes.
