Heh yeah, they're a real pain. 3.gif I wouldn't demolish them yet though, was planning on letting the lesser-developed parts of the city grow first.

Just thought I'd post an update on the development of my CBD. Things are moving on slowly as population has now reached over 70k. Just got to figure out how to keep my suburbs neat like the design of the CBD;

i like roflyoshi's idea. but plan away!

and a quadruple terminal! (just think if they were somehow linked by an underground network. maybe you can build a subway if you haven't done so - in time of course.

Many thanks for the replies everyone. To answer your question DITRO, I've begun adding a underground network but it's early days. It is however helping with relief of the roads in the high density residential areas.

Zurrabear, I'm not exactly sure yet so open to suggestions. As I've not got too much extra content, the best option seems to be either the White House or Tokyo Tower.

See if you can find a good tower on the STEX. Don't hesitate to dive in there, there is a lot of good custom content.

If things go according to plan you're going to want something tall there, so it will be visible; presumably it will be surrounded by other tall buildings (unless those are some parks I see there).  Personally I wouldn't use the White House--too asymmetrical.  It needs to be a real destination building, something that in real life would draw people to the location.

riverwood: I clicked on it, but my browser still had to scale it down lol. Thats what I'm aiming for with my downtown ( tallest building right now is maxis bell towers - I have a little ways to go)

@CraigKingOfIreland: I agree with Josh6: Stunning CBD and an awesome amount of custom lots and lotting! Impressive!

@Plastic Manc: I love your project. Allthough I prefer urban sprawl, it's a known fact that a lot of cities are thoroughly planned. Yours is a marvellous example of both planning and patience.

@Keep-Up:

Great night shot! I love a good skyline by night.

@Bristore:

That is a truly amazing CBD. What an incredible number of custom skyscrapers.. and do I spot a Jacko statue? Great work!Btw, you seem to have installed some kind of sidewalk mod; I notice that in your entire downtown the roads lack sidewalk textures. It looks a little bit.. strange.. 34.gif

Everyone, great CBDs. I'll show you Newsborugh's CBD. Small suburb of Los Lowgwea.

KeepUp, do I eye Two Prudential Plaza? There is great demand for this building. Do you have a link?

Those are great shots zurrabear.  I love the variety of textures and styles. Using too many glass curtain buildings make cities look dull. I also tend not to use too many of them.

@1994: Terrific!! It looks like you and I are on the same wavelength: Lots of vintage buildings with some modern ones thrown in, mass transit, and no nasty freeways. I like your use of green space along main arteries. I'd love to see more if you have them. BTW folks, a related thread in the forums is "Show us your city's detail/close-ups." I'd love to see more of your cities there, not just the CBDs.

Bristore--nice collection of high rises.  I think your spaces in between could use more variety, however; medium density development with different sorts of opens spaces--you're basically using that same palm tree plaza everywhere.
