Well, I don't know if you could consider this a downtown view, persay, but it is the commercial centre of Pinehurst, currently being featured in my CJ. Only 5,900 people live here, so the commercial district fits in with the rest of the area: small.

Here is a new little simple project of mine...I like the city b/c it trails off from high buildings to low buildings. To follow is sunset shot of a city I called Tha Root. I called it such b/c it was originally only farms and thus well...the root of my region. The region in which this city is located is at 3 million now! 39.gif As u can see, I've got some development goin on. There are a few plops in there, but most are growable (damn Djoella industries!) 26.gif

You are all very talented at making downtown areas, especiallly dusktrooper and his photoshop distortion crazyness. I hope when my new project is complete, it will host the greatest downtown ever seen.

This cant compare to all your skyscrapers and well-thought-out road/railway systems, but i was proud when they built the top-left building *sniffle* ill learn, and get better.

Oh, don't worry... we all started out small, y'know. 2.gif

And I got two suggestions for you, one aesthetical and the other practical:

    1) That avenue at the top right looks odd - I would replace those zig-zags with a diagonal section...

    2) Commerce likes traffic, and those avenues would be the perfect places for commercial zoning - at least if they are frequented by many cars, of course. You didn't build anything rigt next to the avenues, however. Instead, you placed your commercial zones away from it.

Ok, in order to avoid spamming, here's the downtown of a little 300,000 residents town, the last one I played before I started modding...

In my newest city there are two little downtowns:

    screen20wp.jpg alt=Image Hosted by Image

    screen11wc.jpg alt=Image Hosted by Image

Between those downtowns, there is a mid-density res area, with a lot of nature and recreation.

I tried that, but somehow i just couldnt get it to go that way so i just gace up, i will try again.

I didnt know passing traffic increased desiriability{sp?}, i will take your advice and rebuild a bit and see what happens. I made the avenues that way because i forsaw i needed to replace them with highways later..

Sorry for spamming guys, please continue showing off 9.gif
