Man...I certainly would not like to live there.

I downloaded that supercenter...How did you possibly get that to grow?

Can't wait to see downtown!

Very timely. Where did you get the shopping center lots? I like the look of those.

I really like that artificial lake subdivision in the last update. Very real-looking.

I love the shopping area! Where did you get those BATs? I don't think I've seen them on the STEX.

It's too bad that Southpark Shopping Center seems to be dying.  Nonetheless, it made for a realistic update.  Will the economy in South Winchester bounce back soon, or is this long-term?  Either way, I plan to be here to see whether or not it does.  Nice update, Dan! 44.gif

DeathtoPumpkins: Thanks. Depending on the area, I like the effect of abandoned buildings/shopping centers in SC4. Very similar to RL Woodbridge, VA near here.

Raysfan16: The way I got the SimGoober Super Center to grow was just zoning the size (is it 14x7?... it's in the readme I think) and waiting for it to grow. Some places are better than others I've found.

    Fabsies55: Thanks!

SimsAmerica #1: Glad you liked the shopping center.

Equilibria: The super center is by SimGoober. I got it off the stex several years ago. Glad you liked the upper-middle class neighborhood with the lake.

Selles: Thanks, glad you like the area... or like how run down it is haha. The super center by SimGoober....

SimsAmerica #2: .... is on the LEX now too? I've never used the building plop cheat to plop growables.

Bruce (Schulmanator): I agree... would be good if more people got to keep their houses, though I guess both the loaners and the loanees have some responsibility.

SimsAmerica #3: 42.gif (in my teacher voice...) I hope you'll choose not to flame/rudely respond to folks in my thread in the future. Schulmantor is a regular visitor and understands that Winchester, Massopax, and the like are in the USA.

Petrovar Ambassador: Thanks, glad you liked the update. I think I need to add some pizazz as you've been doing with the hot babes in your CJ. face-icon-small-smile.gif

ComputerGuy890100: Thanks for visiting... the center is the SimGoober Super Center. I retrieved it from the STEX some years ago, though it appears to be on the LEX now too.

Metarvo: Thanks, glad you liked the update. There could be some redevelopments in the future where Southpark Shopping Center is, though such plans have yet to be seen.

Haljackey: Thanks! Glad you liked the update.

    And now... Wow another update...

    u50header.jpg

Continuing north along MP-39/S. Jefferson Ave., we pass some better neighborhoods.

    u50pic1.jpg

Paradoxically, the rusting signal poles in this area could use replacing as well as some individual signals.

    u50sign1.jpg

    u50sign2.jpg

Just before crossing the Wanata River, MP-39 crosses South Wanata Drive with a jug-handle interchange. Though it's Not really an interchange as both ends have traffic signals. However, the jug handle is necessary as the MP-39 bridge over the river forces the grade separation of MP-39 and South Wanata Drive.

    u50pic2.jpg

Here is The signal at the jug-handle. It's been proposed to replace the traffic signals with roundabouts though the amount of room is pretty tight with the rail bridge.

    u50sign3.jpg

Here is the view of MP-39 crossing the Wanata River.

    u50pic3.jpg

We're getting closer to downtown... to the right we have some industrial areas and the left some waterfront apartments and condos.

    u50pic4.jpg

The signals at the depicted intersections above use black poles typically used in most assemblies in downtown Winchester.

    u50sign4.jpg

Notice signage here for the impending interchange with I-79, which we will see next time.

    u50sign5.jpg

Of note at the intersection with E. Bland St. is the first location of Mort's Market, built back in 1952. This location has also been recently renovated.

    u50pic5.jpg

Well that's it for now. I'm on a streak updating, hopefully it will continue though the next couple of weeks look rather busy.

    Thanks for visiting.

    -Dan

Nice work. I like the walk signals... don't think I noticed those before. Great pix and great intersection signage. I wish more places would tell you which lane for which way on the interstates... we have way too many people here veering across lanes because it was left and they thought right.

    Nice job Dan.

Yeah, it kinda would've helped if he made that supercenter growable.

Your roadsigns look really good as always, keep up the good work!

That store definitely looks brand new! Stores tend to renovate a lot, a Safeway about 10 minutes from me has renovated 3 times in the past 10 years, I think.

    All,

With the new updates to Simtropolis, I am wondering whether to continue this thread or make all future updates on the new CJ platform.

I am curious to hear your thoughts.

    (1) Where will you be more likely to go to read updates?

    (2) Where will you be posting updates of your own CJ (if you have one)?

    Thanks much,

    -Dan

Honestly, dfnva, I would go wherever the CJ would be, but if you were to move it to the CJ section, could you also include older updates?

My plan is to stick with the current forum until the dust has settled and then maybe switch over. I would follow wherever you post.

Hey Dan let me respond to your questions:

    1. Not sure yet. We're all used to a thread-styled CJ so it will take a while to get used to the new format.

    2. Both places, at least for the time being.

Having already transferred a ton of updates to the new section, I can say its a snap! Its easy to transfer your stuff and your content will be automatically organized into a table of contents, with a custom page displayed for each update. Its also much easier to reply to comments because you can do it right away, you don't have to wait until you update.

I'd say your CJ is set up in such a way that it would excel in the new section. Give it a shot if you want! You never know unless you try...

    Anyways hope this helps!

    Best,

    -Haljackey
