Looking good Dan!

I can't say much about the OWR-3, but right now it will be orthogonal only. Its still early in development, so look forward to a new RHW release and then hopefully some NWM!

Best,

-Haljackey

Death to Pumpkins: Thanks! In several CJ's I've seen a Super Target in the vein of Heblem's K-Mart and Walmart, but I've never been able to find it on the STEX or LEX.

    Hawkeye9: Thanks!

KJ3400: You're very observant, the next phase in the widening of MP-427 will be from the exit with MP-130 south to its terminus at I-79/US-27. This widening will include grade separation with the one or two roads the route crosses. As for Clark County, back on page 3 or 4, we drove through Elkton which is in Clark County.

Bruce (Schulmanator): Thanks, glad everything is clear so you won't get lost!

    Flyinbird93: Thanks!

BanditP61: I think you're referring to KJ3400's avatar. Thanks for visiting.

Haljackey: Thanks. Well I can't wait to be able to use some of those new road tools, it keeps SC4 very exciting even on the dawn of CitiesXL.

    And now...

    u40headerwp6.jpg

Today, we'll continue west on MP-130 into rural Piedmont County.

First, here's a pic showing where we've left off around the JCT of MP-130/Swanson Rd and MP-427, the western by-pass of Winchester and Salem. You'll notice some new additions to the area including more houses and partial completion of a new country club (those owners of McMansions need something to do for fun, don't they?).

    u40pic1fn3.jpg

Zooming in a bit more, here is the completed intersection of MP-130 and SR-659/Grey Goose Rd...

    u40pic2ko6.jpg

... complete with new traffic signals.

    u40sign1fs8.jpg

Just past there, westbound MP-130 widens to four lanes. The right lane exits onto MP-427 north, the left lane will turn onto a ramp for MP-427 south.

    u40sign2he5.jpg

Here is the ramp for MP-427 north. Turning left here goes into the Swanson Commons Shopping Center.

    u40pic3vp6.jpg

    u40sign3mg9.jpg

    u40sign4zt4.jpg

After crossing over MP-427, turning left here puts on a southerly course.

    u40pic4gx3.jpg

    u40sign5fl6.jpg

Just beyond the MP-427 intersection, MP-130/Swanson Rd slims back to just two lanes as we enter more rural environs.

    u40pic5yf7.jpg

The next town we'll go through is Bradysville

    u40sign6fc2.jpg

And for the next mile or so, we pass by farms.

    u40pic6us0.jpg

    u40sign7dq5.jpg

    u40pic7br4.jpg

For some reason I like making these signposts for rural intersections.

    u40sign8eq8.jpg

Thanks for visting. Hopefully next time, we'll get to Bradysville and hopefully that next update will be sooner rather than later. 4.gif

Its always great to see what you are coming up with Dan. Nice work!

I think Winchester will be a serious contender for the 08 "Best Roadgeek" trixie. I know you have won it in the past, and it really shows. Nice work!

    Best,

Really? I love those BATs, but I haven't seen it either.

And like I said, if you PM me your email I'd be glad to send mine to you.

That country club should be neat upon completion, and I always love those rural shots... can't wait to see Bradysville!

Nice update...Let's hope CitiesXL doesn't disappoint...and I'm hearing sad rumors that the area for the city will only be 10x10km...and no word of region mode which would make that alright...think if we still had to play on just a 4km*4km tile only, blargh.

Benedict: Thanks, it's fun to make them, especially the 3-d sign perspectives.

Haljackey: Thanks.. I'm honored that you'd say that with all of the great roadgeekery CJ's there are, including GTR.

    Raysfan16: Thanks!

Twenty20: Thanks... I always think good signage is important. Sadly in real life that is not always the case.

Death to Pumpkins: Thanks! I keep forgetting to IM you about the Target. The country club should look great once I get the country club reward so I can plop the clubhouse. I'd think with all those McMansions I'd be getting close. lol.

Packersfan: Thanks. I hadn't heard that about CitiesXL, but at least the road/highway tools look great!

    Suplado: Thanks!

De Ja Vu: Thanks. Sometimes I think I work too hard on organization lol. Glad you like the shopping centers, I really like putting them together.

    Hawkeye9: Thanks!

Bruce (Schulmantor): Thanks. I try to picture what I like seeing as I drive through rural Virginia when I make rural areas, I think the more I work on them, the better they get.

Mikeaut1: Thanks! Winding roads and signs are my specialty lol.

KJ3400: Thanks! The Massopax DOT has some serious rules for workers post-construction. Everything must be made to look brand new and nice, and to mitigate the effects of trees cut down, new trees must be planted.

    Lifeless08: Thanks!

NewYorkRunaway1: Thanks! Well since you can't wait for the next update... here it is...

    u41headercw0.jpg

Here is the view along MP-130 as we continue westward toward Bradysville

    u41pic1bb0.jpg

We see this sign approaching the next intersection with SR-785. The suggestion is that using SR-785 as a cut-through would save you time if you're bound for east MP-42 instead of going through Bradysville.

    u41sign1ee3.jpg

Here is the intersection with SR-785. Several livestock farms appear along this stretch of MP-130.

    u41pic2lf0.jpg

    A close-up...

    u41pic3zu0.jpg

On MP-130, we continue our FARR out drive through the countryside.

    u41pic4zf4.jpg

    u41pic5hy3.jpg

    u41sign2xh6.jpg

And now we enter the town of Bradysville.

    u41pic6op9.jpg

    u41sign3lt1.jpg

MP-130 ends its trail at MP-42 just ahead.

    u41sign4xe5.jpg

Here we come upon the intersection of MP-130 and MP-42 downtown. In our subsequent update, we will be turning right on MP-42 to continue westward.

    u41pic7bn0.jpg

    u41sign5ha3.jpg

    Here's a zoomed-out look to see most/all of downtown.

    u41pic8ln7.jpg

An alternate view... Bradysville sits at the mouth of the Lewis Branch on the Wanata River.

    u41pic9yl4.jpg

    And one more zoomed-out picture:

    u41pic10bx3.jpg

    Hope you enjoyed the update.

Bradyville looks like a nice small town, although its too bad Food Lion and the rest of suburbia is encroaching upon it. I think you should get some custom content for your industrial areas; I hate the Maxis industrial buildings. The part I like the most was the beach with the retaining walls, it reminds me of some parts of the LA area.

I got a CJ, Waterbridge, i'm not a hyperlink expert but search it and it should come up :)

Hey Dan! Bradysville is pretty much awesome. Reminds me so much of those smaller towns dotting the western piedmont of VA. Gordonsville comes to mind somewhat, also with a little bit of Harrisonburg mixed in.

Also your use of the FAR is awesome as well, very nicely done.

You keep up the great work!

Once again, another great update by you. I like how the 22.5 degree roads curve through the countryside. One thing I forgot to say about Bradyville is I like the way the farms butt right up against suburbia.
