I, Like Simsamerica would have to make due with cider or grape juice (is that a proper noun? would it be Grape Juice? Wouldn't want to make my English teacher (Who is French-Canadian) unhappy), as I am underage...

.....supposedly...

This CJ has been one of the best I've ever seen. Congratulations on making a CJ last 2 years! (I've never made a CJ longer than 3 months) I'm looking forward to more!

Very incredible! Schulmanator is right, you're the King of the Road!

Did you make the road signs by yourself? They're very well done!

    Good. I would hate to see the end of this awesome CJ. I will be back to see greatness when you are ready. 9.gif

    @bluemoose

    Thanks!

    @packersfan

    Thanks, glad you liked the update.

    @Schulmanator (Bruce)

    Haha... thanks for the cake and 'King of the Road'!

    @Shilka

    Thanks. Glad you like the signs, they are somewhat different than European ones. I think the problem is the older peg streams have those waterplants. I'm trying to replace my peg streams with ploppable water, as you'll see in this update.

    @Simsamerica

    Thanks. If you do a search for houses, maybe "Real life size suburban homes" on the stex, you'll probably find the ones I used in the McManisons update. I Cannot remember off the top of my head what they're called.

    @TmiguelT

    Thanks... we'll just buy sparkling un-alcoholic grape juice to celebrate, they should have that there. 4.gif

    @Raysfan16

    Thanks for your support and complements!

    @Simsamerica (2)

    We'll get some sparkling apple cider as well!

    @ecoba

    Ha, that's fine! Thanks!

    @N106

    Thanks!

    @Mr. Beer (David)

    Thanks! I make the road signs with MS-Powerpoint, I have a bank of templates I use to make them.

    @thepokemaniac

    Thanks!

    @Benedict

    McThanks!

    @Victor Valdes

    Thanks! I appreciate it!

    @Schulmanator (2)

    Thanks... and speaking of being ready...

    u58header1.jpg

    Wow, it's been a busy few months. I've not played SimCity in several months and the two newer regions I've been working on have been put on hold indefinitely as I'd like to focus on the Winchester region for the time being.

    So we left off heading north on MP-319 toward the town of Rosewood (we started this particular trek sometime back on MP-39 at the southern end of the region).

    u58pic1.jpg

    u58pic2.jpg

    u58sign11l.jpg

    Here is a sign for the upcoming intersection with SR-620 and SR-622.

    u58sign2.jpg

    Here is a shot of downtown Rosewood, nothing much here as it's a pretty small town of about 2,000 people. SR-620 turns north to multiplex with MP-319 here.

    u58pic3.jpg

    This warning beacon was recently installed because of motorists speeding down MP-319 and several accidents. It may be upgraded to a full signalized intersection if this doesn't help.

    u58sign3.jpg

    Continuing down MP-319 and leaving town.

    u58pic4.jpg

    SR-695/Birmingham Rd goes northwest toward Midland (town focused on in the first update of this CJ).

    u58sign4.jpg

    A sign in advance of the point where SR-620 diverges from MP-319.

    u58sign5.jpg

    Here is where SR-620 diverges northwesterly, and also where we're going to turn left.

    u58pic5.jpg

    Signage at the intersection showing the perspective of each direction. SR-620's multiplexes are posted so well as it's a fairly important secondary route, beginning in Winchester as N. Horton Ave. and ending in the mountains north of here in Greysboro, wherever that may be (it's not in my region haha).

    u58sign6.jpg

    Here is the view along SR-620/Greysboro Rd, picturesque with lots of farms and a stream.

    u58pic6.jpg

    u58pic7.jpg

    u58pic7b.jpg

    u58pic8.jpg

    u58pic9.jpg

    Here's a deteriorating older signpost in advance of the next intersection...

    u58sign7.jpg

    SR-620 diverges to the right and exits the region, but we're going to turn left onto SR-651/Guinea Rd.

    u58pic10.jpg

    u58sign8.jpg

    Next time we'll head west along SR-651/Guinea Rd... part of the fun will be some mountaineous switchbacks.

    Hopefully it won't be over two months before I update again, but thanks for your continued support! I'm honored to have made it 2 years and 30+ pages!

    Wow Dan, that is another great update. Every time it seems, I marvel at the realism of the areas you drive through. That stream area is very charming. I'd love to stop and take a look at that if I was driving by, but you only stop at those nice looking stop signs.

    Oh, it's good to see you back, Dan.

    Winchester has a certain style of updating that just makes it irresistable, well I guess it's the drive style. That's a really nice stream, you use the Ploppable Water really well, have you tried the Transparent Ploppable Water? I think it could improve the appearance of your streams even more! (Would not think that was possible!) That's a really cool way of using the street to end 620 at that fork. Very innovative! And didn't we already see some of Guinea Road in McFun with McMansions? Is it the roads with all the roundabouts? Or is that a different road?

    @N106

    Thanks!

    @Raysfan16

    Thanks. I'm trying to capture parts of rural Virginia, esp. in the mountains, where I love scenic driving the most.

    @Larks2242

    Thanks! Glad you like the signs.

    @Deathtopumpkins

    Thanks! Glad to see you're updating in the new CJ area.

    @Simsamerica

    Thanks!

    @Schulmanator

    Thanks, glad you enjoyed the update.

    @DCMetro34

    Thanks...are you a fellow DC area resident?

    @Chrissc94

    Thanks! Glad you liked the rural stream scenes.

    @Ecoba

    Thanks. I should download the transparent water. I definitely prefer ploppable water now to Peg streams and ponds. Glad you liked the interesting intersection with SR-620 and SR-651. That happens a lot in rural areas (even some suburban areas) where the road comes to a stop sign and then continues to the right with a literal fork in the road. SR-625/Galesforth Rd is the one we were on with the McMansions, SR-651/Guinea Rd is totally different.

    @TmiguelT

    Thank you.

    @Victor Valdes

    Thanks much!

    @Benedict

    Thanks, good to see you back updating as well.

    And now...

    u59headerb.jpg

    Thus we continue onto SR-651/Guinea Rd literally up into some hilly mountainous areas...

    u59pic1o.jpg

    u59pic2.jpg

    An intersection with SR-656, which once began at the border of Piedmont County and Winchester City as N. Parson Av. (now SR-3056). SR-656 shortly overlaps (or multiplexes) onto SR-651 at this point.

    u59pic3.jpg

    The signage here lacks any indication of the overlap of SR-656 and SR-651.

    u59sign1.jpg

    Finally we start going up the hill, somewhat steep.

    u59pic4.jpg

    At the top of the hill, SR-656 diverges as a gravel road going down a steep grade.

    u59pic5.jpg

    The signage here does indicate the multiplex.

    u59sign2.jpg

    As you can see both SR-651 and SR-656 are fairly twisty and winding at this point.

    u59pic6.jpg

    u59sign3.jpg

    u59pic7.jpg

    u59pic8.jpg

    SR-651 straightens out at this point and woops... didn't do too good hiding the city tile border here, did I? LOL... SR-823/Costlow Rd is a minor dirt road to access farms.

    u59pic9.jpg

    Here's a sign for an upcoming intersection with SR-642.

    u59sign4.jpg

    And at this point, we shall turn left onto SR-642 to head toward Pattonsburg. SR-651 exits upstage out of the region from here, presumably to a town called Zion. We're currently in the northwestern most tile of my region.

    u59pic10.jpg

    u59sign5.jpg

    More twisy mountain fun next time, and hopefully we'll get to the small town of Pattonsburg.

    I will be busy for a while, but maybe in 3 weeks we shall continue our drive...

    Thanks for visiting,

    -Dan

    Cool! I like your drives through the rural areas. I wouldn't want to drive on that road right now(or anytime for that matter)

    Do you even out the grades with monorail like I do, or a different technique?

    Great update, again! I just got back from Pittsburgh, and you almost perfectly recreate Appalachian countryside. especially with the switchback-type roads. I'm looking forward to visiting Pattonsburg.
