National Symbols Update 3

The new land to the east was discovered and plans made to colonize it. The region became known as "Devonshire" and was soon given its own armorial bearings. The seal for the district, shown below, features a regal cat on a shield.

This new seal was first used on the commemorative medallion given to the exploration expedition members upon their return to Schulmanicus. An example of the copper medallion is shown below.

Back on Schulmanicus, the village of Wanda was also awarded the insignia shown below.

This shield represents the bounty of land and sea Wanda has at its disposal. Its fish are legendary for size and quality. The wildlife, forests, and crops are shown in other quarters of the shield.

Old Schulmania, the original farming community on the north coast of the mainland, was granted this insignia in honor of its contribution to the agricultural bounty of the realm.

It shows three sheaves of wheat against a blue background. The bounty of the land is the heart of this unincorporated community.

The town of Schulmanidad, built adjacent to the ferry port of Old Schulmania, was granted this symbol by the Supreme Wirdle, upon the recommendation of Governor Cawale of the Atkinos District.

The royal eagle is symbolic of the power of the realm flying further and further from home. The eagle has two heads, one looking to Old Schulmania as its roots and one to Schulmanidad as the town of the future. It also recalls the symbol of Atkinos (city), which is a two headed eagle filling the sea. (Many Schulmanidad residents emigrated farther south from Atkinos and Atkiniros to Schulmanidad). The red and gold striped background represents the predominant color of the Atkinos District seal's wreath and Atkinos city's shield. The vertical stripe pattern was suggested by the director of the engineering firm which designed the town's distinctive reservoir showpiece.

The official insignia of Atkinos town features a two headed eagle filling the sea. It is a fitting symbol, since Atkinos is a centrally located seaside town. The two headed eagle was chosen to represent looking to Schulmanicus and to Atkinos Islands. The bichephalitic eagle would prove to be a popular and distinctive emblem used in many places across Schulmania over the years.

The next round of updates will all feature the newest addition to the regal dominions of the Supreme Wirdle...
