I would just sugest you try to use some of sorchins rocks and flora and the ones of gizmo to ad some variety into wather. Otherway I love it as it is. You have yet again provided us with quality update that one day I wish I will be able to provide also. Looking foward for more.

Hester Thanks. Schulmania is always glad to have a booster club. Membership card and newsletter (printed quarterly) are available... for a small fee, of course!

Simfan34 Hmmmm, you may be able to secure passage on a future voyage. If, of course, you curry favor with the Supreme Wirdle. I would recommend bringing an offering of sardines.

    18691.jpg

Monkee_boy Thanks! Glad you like the update. As for the bears.... I supposed they will have to bear with them! [insert groan here]

Zipme17 Thanks! Glad you like them!

RushHourFreak Gracias, Juan. Glad you like the new discoveries. More exploration is coming... soon!

Voulpiotis Thanks! I try to blend the two in as I can to give it a bit more realism. I was pleased that I was able to get that valley photo which blends seamlessly into the SC4 pix of the hills and valleys. Almost too well, actually. I sprinkle a decent number of real pix into my SC4 pix throughout. I am glad you enjoy the technique. Efaristo!

Giligone Yep, there's no telling what will happen in a strange new land!

What? There's shameless Apple promotions??!! Shocking!!

    K226_10U1_000.jpg

sc4portugal Maravilhoso! Eu sou feliz que você o aprecía!

Krio Hungry, eh? Or, just looking for something to go with the milk? ;-) Good news - all of Schulmania's animals are guaranteed tasty! Now, where's my grillin' sauce....

    UPPkingofgrill_lg.jpg

fledder200 Lord Bananarama, I will catch you. And when I do, I will banish you to the 1980s in my time machine, leaving you to battle to the death against Austin Powers III. The survivor will not be returned to 2007, but will get a cushy job as a Vegas lounge act at a second tier casino.

Narya Always a pleasure to have you visit. I ought to do more with landscaping, but my four year old computer (which was midrange at the time) strains mightily with the plug ins and such I already have. So, I have been somewhat reluctant to get a bunch of trees and such. But, you are right.... I should.

Zelgadis I thought you, of all people, would enjoy Admiral Miles Macintosh. That was my first computer, an original Mac 128. It was named Miles. Got him used - overpaid. Sold him more used (useder?) to someone who overpaid as well (hehehe). I have had a bunch of Macs over the last decade plus. I use this Wintel box upstairs but still have the trusty PowerPC downstairs to keep me honest. After all, once you've gone Mac - you never go back!!

Heh, sadly, I haven't been a Mac user for that long. I got my first in 1998 just after I finished university, right before the iMac was released, no less. No matter, I paid $3500 for a fully tricked out G3 and it served me very well for 6 years. I even rigged SC4 to run on it, even though the specs for it were way off. 3.gif Now I have my lovely PPC G4, which I adore. Most stylish Mac ever made, though it definitely earned the nickname "wind tunnel." 3.gif

Zelgadis The first computer I got out of college was a Performa 6290. I had that for a long time before getting the Power PC Mac clone (with its impressive 2 GB hard drive!)

Narya Thanks! Though, I am open to suggestion. If you have some favorite flora and rocks and such, lemme have some linkies and I will investimagate them!

football_fever Had to say just yet what they found, but Devonshire #2 is coming soon!

UnkleS27 Thanks! But, one cannot pave over a ninjateen turtle - they have supernatural powers!

    Hester Glad to oblige!

sc4portugal You've never used a Mac?? Windows has gotten somewhat better- but Apple will always be the Mac Daddy!! And, as for Fled, I think he has been diverted from the new discoveries by some new pals:

    Sumfr2.jpg

Jacqulina Jacky!!! J-lina is in the house!!! Thanks! I am glad you like the update. I always throw in some animal pix for you! More nature is on the way as the discoverers fan out across Devonshire.

fledder200 Help! An escapee from Monkey Island has shown up in Schulmania! And this one is probably rabid!! Help!!!

Zelgadis That's a sweet little computer! I love how the Macs have style as well as function. Computers will class... no wonder they are the only computer which smiles at you when you turn it on!

Bat Thanks! More discoveries are coming soon!

Cowcorn Thanks! Glad to see you back. More stuff is on the way. And more of my offbeat narration as well!

    New update soon! Brace yourself!

Devonshire: The Lay of the Land

Scout group 165 headed northeast, into the hills. As they marched forward, Assistant Simian Manager Munty Mower thought he heard the sound of water. This seemed odd, being in the middle of the hilly forest. As Munty Mower's troop pressed on, the sound became more distinct. They were concerned that they had veered off track and headed west, back to the coast. Orienteering Specialist Eaton Bacon confirmed that they were indeed heading northeast. As they continued on the original plan, the mysterious sound deepened. Munty ran ahead when he saw a clearing in the forest ahead. When he arrived, he gaped at a phenomenon as yet unseen by Schulminions: a self contained body of water. Jorge Curioso was right behind Munty and the two of them beckoned for their group to make haste. The cartographer with the group, Dr. Leah Brahms, catalogued the site, classifying it as a "lake" and proposed naming the new feature. Some suggestions were Mower Lake, Lake George, Eastlake, Hill Lake, Meatloaf Lake, Lake Monkanana and Sausage Lake. These suggestions were brought to the Fleet Captains, who selected three finalists; Lake George, Hill Lake, Mower Lake to forward to Admiral Macintosh for approval. The final selection, Lake George, was approved by the admiral and recorded on the cartographer's report to the Supreme Wirdle.

    lakemy8.jpg

    Lake George

This landform offered a great supply of fresh water and some edible fish. It was decided that, pending further exploration, this would be the first place to build a settlement. The shores of Lake George were examined and all sorts of data recorded about the terrain, soil quality, plant and animal life, and other strategic information. Here are some of the more detailed cartographic reports on Lake George.

    lakeside1ms9.jpg

    lakeside2so9.jpg

    lakeside3qb9.jpg

The shore area is of varying steepnesses, somewhat rocky, and surrounded by grasses, flowers, and trees.

    lakeside4py0.jpg

    lakeside5wm0.jpg

    lakeside6ga0.jpg

The steeper shores would be a challenge for development. The gentler slopes offer direct access for future town dwellers and wildlife alike.

    lakeside7ab7.jpg

    lakeside8ry2.jpg

The rocky shores of Lake George would require extensive terraforming to fully develop the surrounding land. Engineering detachments, under command of Lt. Jordy Laforge, will be sent to develop plans to begin site work.

    lakeside9jj0.jpg

The higher land around the lake would offer terrific views for future occupants. No doubt this land would see for plenty of schulmonetas!

Meanwhile, scout group 265 explored along the verdant coast. Admiral Macintosh had already decided to have a new town platted along Devon Creek. This group's task was to determine a spot along the coast for another settlement.

    shore1rl3.jpg

This spot was considered for settlement. The rocky outcrop could be a negative - hard to develop, or a positive- light tower placement or temple construction.

    shore2zx7.jpg

This area has two small outcrops but is otherwise fairly level.

To help orient the city journal reader to the features of this new region, the cartographic team has created the following guides, showing the main geographic features and their names.

    devonshiremap1fm4.jpg

The southern portion of the region, facing west

    devonshiremap2qp7.jpg

The northern portion of the region, facing west. Note, there is some overlap between the two. It should help with spatial orientation.

Nice update Schulmanator, but you should download some custom-trees and plant those also. Those names are funny, if I see them right: Monkey Power Mountain is SHT-stuff! Hah hah!
