Well, actually, Admiral Hestorb caught a mouse in Gran Maru last night. I am not sure yet what spin the Schulminions will put on it. I do know that Alvin, Simon and Theodore are all planning to recloate to Devonshire in hopes of staying one step ahead of the hungry Feline Schulminion population.

Krio Nope! No dark ages. But, there is a different look and feel to what is coming. There is a hint of what style will be highlit around Lake George in the replies.

fledder200 Hmmmm.... A home for Fled... would need lots of storage space in case your two fly girls show up laden down with purchases! Hmmmm... we'll have to consult the real estate agent.

    Ilikehotdogsalot Uh oh! Busted!

hamsterTK Hmm... not all going away yet. They'd need the Pied Piper.... And they don't want that, because then who would you chase? Well, of course there's the chipmunks...

    chipmunks.jpg

And, honestly, if they get eaten.... Is it really much of a loss??!!

Purpledaddy I am not sure the prey have any constitutional rights in Schulmania. And I doubt the Supreme Wirdle will seek any reforms. After all, she enjoys a good mouse hunt as much as the next cat!

Shadow_Assassin I am not sure if they have termites in Schulmania. But, a planned update well in the future will have some sort of 6 legged menace...

    [extreme foreshadowing..... long term forecast!]

Asturianu Cristian! Once you read her version of what happened, you can't blame her for protecting the governor and her food from the rascally Squeek E. Cheesesnatcher!

Jacqulina Thanks, Jacky! And this story was based on true events!

Zipme17 Actually, it is true! She caught her very first mouse!

tbone04044 Ha! Now, if they had tabloids in Schulmania, youknow this would have been all over the covers for weeks!

Giligone Kind of like how Sylvester sits there with his mouth full looking innocent and has a yellow feather or two hanging out of his mouth. Then comes Granny with the umbrella and bang! Bang! Bang! Out comes Tweety!

Cowcorn Thanks! And, based on a true story! I wonder if anyone noticed her response was bilingual. It is written in Schulminion Humanoid and Schulminion Feline (cuneiform script). Don't forget that cat writing was developed in Atkiniros!

Krio Yep! He was found guilty and sentenced to join the Admiral for dinner... and not as a guest!

    fledder200 Close but no cigar!

Hester It is based on true events, after all!

Shanna Thanks! Glad to have you over! We'll see what we can get for ya!

    Giligone The guilty always pay!

tbone04044 Stewart was smarter than Cheesesnatcher. Stewart would have known better than to try and steal cheese at the GOVERNOR'S house!

Simfan34 Man doesn't rule in Schulmania! It's the cats who have united to rule in regal supremacy. As a matter of fact, I have found a copy of the book they use to train cats to be our overlords. I am trying to smuggle it out and will post a copy when I get it here safely

    Devonshire: Introducing Georgetown

There were several small towns established around Lake George. Today, we will examine the easternmost one, Georgetown. Georgetown centers around its church and meanders around the eastern shore of the lake. Many of its buildings were constructed in dark brick and are fairly narrow. This distinctive style, which has been seen on occasion in other Schulminion settlements, has become known as the "Lake Style" as it was around Lake George that this style became popularized. Now, to our first stop in our tour of the Villages of Lake George.

    lakegeorgeseallj9.gif

As is my habit, I like to show you a wide view of the whole town first, then swoop in for close ups. We will see Georgetown from all cardinal directions.

    townviewwide1fn1.jpg

This view shows the whole town, viewed from north to south. The eastern shore of Lake George is barely visible past the cliff. Georgetown Road is the main road through town. It runs around the whole lake. It changes names as it enters different towns. The lane which runs to the right from the church to the cliff is Essex Lane. The meandering road which runs to the left of the traffic circle is Yellowhat Lane.

    townviewwide2jw1.jpg

This view is looking north from the south. The church and the Georgetown Burial Ground stand at the center of the town. The commercial area is Essex Lane (now on the left) and the left side of Georgetown Road. The Town Hall presides over the traffic circle.

    townviewwide3xq0.jpg

From the west, looking east, the town rises up above the steep cliffs by the lake. The stone church commands the intersection with Essex Lane. The burial ground is somewhat of a novelty. The burial customs usually had the deceased buried on the slopes of the Sacred Precinct on Schulmanicus in shallow unmarked graves. But, Georgetown was too far away for this ritual to be performed adequately. It was decided to have a burial ground in town to serve the villages around Lake George.

    townviewwide4bh6.jpg

From the east, looking to the west, it is easier to see the eastern shore of Lake George. Overlooking the lake are the Georgian Mews coach house and horse supply store (left on Essex Lane) and L'il Monkey Fashion Boutique. Between Essex Lane and the circle is the rest of the commercial area.

Georgetown Church is the focal point of the town. It is one of the few buildings built of stone instead of brick. The different quality of clay and stone in Devonshire leads to a grayer stone color and a darker brick color for buildings than what was seen in Atkinos and Schulmanicus Districts. The church is also of a new style for religious structures. There is no Temple Style structure anywhere in town. Even the Town Hall is not one of the old orders of architecture. There is a belltower at the front of the church. The bell summons the townsfolk to services and also rings on the hour. The narrow sanctuary is less spacious than the Temple Style structures found in older areas on the realm. But, the small population does not need a larger facility.

    church1pr8.jpg

The narrow pointed windows and crenellated roofline make for a distinctive style of religious architecture not seen before in Schulmania. As the style began around Lake George, the style became known as the Georgian Style of architecture [for those non-Schulminions, this is the Gothic Style (not Goth style!)]. Characteristics include a comparatively narrow main edifice and a tall belltower. Features include narrow, pointed windows and doorways and stone tracery on windows. Ornamental projections appear at most corners as well. Some of the design elements featured on this church also appear in modified form on some Lake Style brick buildings around town.

    churchcemeterykq0.jpg

The Burial Ground is behind the church. Yellowhat Lane terminates at the burial ground. In a nod to the original Schulminion burial ground, many of the monuments in the compound are Temple Style in miniature. On the edge of the wilderness of Devonshire, no one is surprised when wildlife shows up. In the image above, a moose and a horse are seen roaming the grounds.

    churchcemetery2ym1.jpg

The last home on the left, at the end of Yellowhat Lane, is the home of The Man With The Yellow Hat. He and his pet monkey often walk through the cemetery to enjoy the fresh air. Today, they ran across some wildlife as well.

    churchcemetery4yt2.jpg

Mourners and visitors stop by to visit loved ones and bring flowers and offerings of chocolate. A small burial ground was also built directly adjacent to the church. This was for the cats, once all nine of their lives were completed.

    churchessexlnkk1.jpg

Climbing the 128 steps to the top of the belltower gave residents an impressive view of the town. Looking toward Essex Lane, One can see the commercial area and many fine homes. The church is truly the focal point of the community.

In the next update, see more of the quaint village of Georgetown.
