Francis90b: Thanks! Yes, I imagine I'll make more buildings like this eventually.

Hanson784: Your cj looks great! Sorry, I didn't see the link in your signature before.

spa: Thanks! I agree; I'm still working on the glass texture.

Bigbuilder, pingangster, DragonAnime, allez l'om: Thanks guys!

Another update! All I should have left to do is add a fire escape and tweak some textures.

Perhaps your best yet. I think I like the brick better than other textures you've used in the past.

Omg, next W2W wonder! 36.gif Building is beautiful in both model and textures ... when will you upload it? 9.gif

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Hey everyone! Not an actual update, but I wanted you all to know that the Logan Square Apartments should be on the STEX soon. I'm just trying to iron out a few issues with the new Bat4Max because I want to offer a dark nite version of it as well.

Hope you're all doing well. Thanks for the great comments!

Yes, this should be a fine Easter egg we'd all love to find in our STEX basket. 2.gif

    Deliciously boring and generic! 4.gif

But wait a second... what do I see there? A 3x2 lot with two buildings at 90

looking good -as much as such apartments can look, as they litter the Fox Valley as well.... particularly like the color variations, I see 3 brick colors -?, the shingle textures are also appealing... I think using HooHa's parking lots can make for some urban/suburban developments... the scale also works which I was concerned about earlier - well done

I'm looking forward to the Logan Square apartment, but for an amusing reason...

...I've noticed that many of the BSP projects, but particularly Nofunk's projects, closely evoke some local landmark here in San Antonio, Texas.  So much so sometimes that I've shown a few and feel compelled yet again to show another!

This is the old Aztec Theatre (opened 1926):

Fortunately, this historic local landmark has been restored, and boasts a strikingly atmospheric lobby in Meso-American Art Deco.  Unfortuantely, the story is that the lobby's massive and exoticly sculptural chandelier was installed the same day the stock market crashed, tolling the end of San Antonio as Texas's queen city.

Of course, the real reason for comparisons is that many of these old buildings come from similar time periods, and San Antonio's downtown building heyday was in the 1920s following popularization the Chicago School, with much of it being preserved.  Perhaps more importantly, for the uninitiated curious, architectural styles had long been reduced and disseminated through style books--guides and catalogues from which builders and craftsmen could select the desired detail and needed specifications.

We'll find similar buildings in every American city, but I find it cool and funny to unexpectedly see the result in action...old buildings in Detroit or Chicago sharing patterns with old buildings in south central Texas.  Hmmm...there is a thesis in here somewhere...

    Hope this was interesting!

Oh yes, it was. 29.gif I always like your little architectural excursions. You always point out interesting buildings, show beautiful and surprising pictures (that lobby, wow!) and add some entertaining trivia and personal observations - not to mention that the architectural styles all this is about are rather exotic to me and hence all the more interesting and fascinating.

I also agree... a pleasant subject and a good thesis topic to boot -if I could only get back to college and finish the degree...
