Starrdarcy!!!!! I must say those streets (exactly streets not just buildings) look amazing! This is a biggest enhancement since Jeronjij introduced his style of building cities – which has been copied since then by absolutely everyone. Yours is a new and fresh, and even MORE realistic!

Are those streets plopped? Or can they be laid on just like ones in game? What about all the trees lining them?

A new project just got proposed in my hometown this morning, and it reminded me of some of your BATs, with the large abundance of new urbanism. Maybe it'll provide some inspiration for another building? Here's some shots:

I looked at the link, and I saw the map.  Then I recognized the streets, and then I recognized the theater plan, and then, sure enough I looked up and it was in the Grand Rapids forum!  I haven't checked there today.  Good news!

And now I notice your signature! lol.

    Thanks for the comments and advice St, my lots are improving rapidly and are almost up to STEx quality. I want my first BAT release to be of high quality. The most difficult aspect of my BATing is the texturing  - since i'm not using GMAX to texture.

    I do have several new sub-projects on the go for the new urbansist project. Including "Ceder Place" and "Icon Towers"

    I still have to figure out how to make the noise for the beige texture to show up, and also how to add lights to my buildings. As well as modding the query info and UI.


    Alfred.Jones: The alleys work as alternative routes for cars and cargo for both residential and industrial/commercial. To the best of my knowledge, the alleys will probably remain as eye-candy, and not functional.

    SC4Noobie: These textures will be included with the "new-urbanist & back-alley" project. These textures will be optional to the user, and can replace the current road/street textures.

    pilotdaryl: Not yet! These will be traffic textures.

    simzebu: PM me for the 3Ds exporter.

    mcarch: No, they will probably never be functional, unless taken by the NAM team or modded by someone else.

    SimFox: The ones in the pictures are ploped, however, they will be available to replace the existing street/road textures. The lines could be included ...or not

    tSlater: That is a nice project... *sigh* i wish we could somehow get those projects here in small town vernon, BC. We have a OCP that is being re-opened soon though!

    i don't know what cave i have been hiding in to miss all this but wow so much

    to comment on, the highways, the condos the alleys it is all gravey

    amzing work and i will be watching the STEX

    Not for at least 2 weeks: i have to get the moddeling and texturing finalized and also mod the lots to make sure things like UI and Query info is in place (i could use some help).quote>

    Sorry, I know nothing about modding and BATing. I'm just a downloader...sorry. I kinda feel selfish now...I should learn.

    This one would be handy, but most unrealistic to mod, it would be a highway and road! BTW, the greay strips are jsut back-alley roads for lots.

    Wow. A downtown highway with no demolition required You could make it a road with 5+ capicity than usual. You MUST relelase this. I want this the most of all of your fine work.

    Well it may be difficult to modd, but there isn't anything unrealistic about it. There are quite few places in the world which have exactly that - Highways set above roads, avenues actually. So you have you 8 lanes of traffic under and another 6-8 above! Only unrealistic thing there is that right angle turn. And the fact that Highway supports next to it blocking half of the road underneath.

    I think it would be really great to see this in game. It would add true megalopolis fill to any city. Although I'm not to enthusiastic about proportions of building occupied space vs. roads side walk etc which seem to dominate SC.

    Like I said, I really cant wait for the double decker highway to come out, we have something like that in New York City (Brooklyn, to be exact)

    In fact, he's avoided talking about it for a while now.

    I seem to under-estimated peoples desires for this styp of highway. Well this "set" of eyecandy highway systems would be released with the "new-urbanism & Back alley Project" However, seeing how modding these lots into functional highways is impossible, they will not work. However, i am happy to report that i am back into the 3D workshop with a few more condos on the way and of course finishibng up some others too.

    Since folks have found a way to transition highway traffic underground (see big dig project), perhaps this could be used to carry one direction of traffic (underground) while the opposite direction moves above ground. Possible?

    if you where going to do that why not use th big dig project?

    and the suer would have to draw the subway lines as far as im aware. adn it would prevent subway from going through your downtown as hte lines cannot cross.
