    The Verve

Want to live in the hottest new development in the city? come and live in "The Verve"! This 3 level condo development has it all - close to services and transit, stylish interior and modern exterior. There is underground parking and a private park for residents.

I will be making a 5 level building as well, and perhaps a different color.

Thanks for the reply's. I really never hear of a "catmull-rom filter" any links?

I definitely like the model. I think there needs to be just a *bit* of colour if you know what I mean (though I suspect that's coming...)

Holy crap! Awesome buildings! I always thought that SC4 needed more condo towers with that Vancouver flair... and these provide just that. Keep it up!

Excellent stuff, will bring a much needed 21st century apperance to our bustling metropolises(sp?).

And I just happen to be working on a map of the Greater Vancouver Area, so these will fit right in.

Keep up the good work starrdarcy

    A little surprise

Well today i'm ging to go a little off the beaten path with my project... but i still feel that this new addition will make my future CJ a little different. Today, i don't have a new condo, but isntead a surprise, well it's kind of big.

    2002761494.jpg

    "Thin" Highways

One of the things i always hated about highways is that they are big, awkward and not customizable. I sat down for a solid 4 hours and thought about how to make the highways some how more easier to work with.

So over the last few days i did a bit of bating and some testing - and i came up with this:

    "Thin" double-level highways.

    surprise1.jpg

Now, they are in the rough stage, and will not be ready for some time, as well, they are not really functional for now. Textureing issues still remain - the shadows must go. However, i believe with modding and some "magic", maybe someone here can make some sort of use out of them.

What are thy? well take a closer look - this is a double level "thin" highway. essentially the capcity of a regular highway with half the space. This would be a great addition to compact historical cities.

    surprise2.jpg

Because of the less space, the highway can fit into any settign and will save alot of space. The transition from the default highway to the new one was tricky, but i managed to pull it off. I also created a new transition from regular highway to ground highway. I'm going to see if i can transit enable the lot somehow... my modding skills suck though.

    surprise3.jpg

I'm going to make a proposal (if it hasnt already been done) on this idea for a future NAM project. As this system, if possible, could greatly change how people use highways and also city layout. For now, i will be using these in an upcomming CJ and hope to demonstrate the possibilties of this highway conficguation.

I will be posting a new Condo soon, and also some more pics of this highway system in the next few days.

Oh my! People have been asking for highways like those for years, they look really nice. I hope you can complete them and release them to the public, I'm sure the folks from the Double Decker Highway Thread will be pleased.

    Developments and News

I have some exciting news, over the next few months i will be doing something that no one has done before - i will become a SC4/ST developer. This may sound strange, but it's simple. I will make my own fictional development company and will try and try to work with other people and thier CJ's/cities, and make a few developments in thier city. This is sort of mini multiplayer game, but with only 2 people. I already made my own fictional company called "Hoyt-Devon developments", and have a building to house this fictional company. More details later.

    hoyt-devon-sig.jpg

Further drifting away from the condo bats, but not entirely - a new major condo project will be unveiled tommorow. The new condo+commcercial project will cover a 4X5 block and will feature a 30+ highrise, the project is called "Project-Crescendo"

    More Surprises...

In the meantime, i just have some more "eye-candy" and more inspiration for the NAM team and others alike! I re-rendered the bat's and made them more streamlined and also added a few more variations to make the new "thin" highway system fit in more with a compact urban enviroment. I don't know if any of these configurations are possible, but it could serve as ideas for future mods and NAM additions.

This picture jsut gives a more real view of the actually highway system.

    surprise5.jpg

Here is a picture of a empty urban area with a highway going through it. The colored areas below are markers for urban planning layout... surprise8.jpg

This one would be handy, but most unrealistic to mod, it would be a highway and road! BTW, the greay strips are jsut back-alley roads for lots.

    surprise9.jpg

Last but not least, this is the new system in use with my completed bats. The views out of some of those condos are not very good, they can look at cars and concrete all day lol.

    surprise11.jpg

Thanks for the comments and advice...

Mods... i think this thread can be moved now, it's kind of a bat thread 3.gif

Wow, great stuff! Their just like the Japaneese highways! One problem, you cannot stack the same type of transport on top of itself. You'll have to convert it to subway or monorail.

    Beautiful!!!!!!  Seattle Rocks!!!!9.gif
Just one thing, can you make the 2 deck higher a little?  It looks like a tight fit for a motorhome, bus or trailer.
