Yes, there really is no way to do what you have in mind, i.e. to tie the elevation of the prop to the building (it would sure be a nice feature!). There is a workaround, however. You can set the lot to switch to a lot foundation even on gentle slopes.

I know this doesn't sound perfect, but in most cases buildings on noticeable slopes look awkward anyway, the exception being buildings that have been made slope-friendly by means of matching foundations. SC4 is really lacking in that respect, unfortunately.

Hello all,

I don't know if this has been answered before, but I cannot get my Lot Editor to run. Everytime I double click the icon, it starts and goes directly to a black screen with a little white square in the upper left corner and freezes. What is going on here?

If you are using the LE with your active plugins folder and that folder is very large, the LE will take aeons to load all the stuff in your plugins. Does the problem persist when you rename your active plugins folder to something else and crate a new, empty* plugins folder before you fire up the LE?

Yes. I renamed my SC4 plugins folder to "gamefiles" and created a new plugins folder above that named "Plugins", and the LE still does not work. I tried re-installing and got the same effect. :angry:

Hello everybody;

I have a question: Can I use lot-editor in another computer where I don't have the SC4 installed?

Maybe somebody do it and can explain if there are troubles or what I really need to install.

Greetings.

I recently started a post for this so if it is a repeat I apologise.

I am fairly new at this. I would like to know how to extract or save the model file independant from the lot which i modified in LE. The original 4x6 residential lot was from simcity1.dat, which I modified in LE to 6x6, changed the building and added additional props. This was saved into My Docs\Plugins as a separate SC4LOT file. I have both bldgprop_vol 1 and 2 in my plugins. I can access the 'lots' and the 'buildings' in LE but when I save the file it always saves as a SC4LOT file.

The final intention is to create a ploppable 'landmark' or 'reward' lot with jobs using the methods outlined in this tutorial; and require a model file to begin making a ploppable lot.

Is this a case of using PIM or reader?

any suggestions?

I was trying to edit the base textures of my lots so they would all match my side walk, and it wont let me save over the original lots. why?

Hi people, I'm having a little problem with the lot editor when I try to enable transit... I open my file, I modify what I want and when I'm going to save... the save button is disabled!! Can anyone help me? (and there is not other programs opened and I can edit with other files, not this one)

I've been having a problem when designing my own lot that when I chose a different texture and save the new lot (as my own lot) that the old texture I began with appears again. Apparently I don't know what I'm doing yet, wish I could figure it out.

hi, i have downloaded justinsim4 sim nation international airport, i get into the lo editor, i want to modify it to look like in the photo, (because i dont hace he building props in my sim city4) so when i want to put a control tower in the lot, and save it is goes out a message that says: "failed to to open SC4lot file, what is going on???!!!! pls help soon :)

So, I've been having this problem where cerain installed props listed do not show in the 3D preview. Why would this be? I can position it in the overhead view but as I said it does not appear in the 3D view. Is this normal and will the prop show in game? . . . or were they not properly installed? What could be the problem?

EDIT: So as it turns out, I answered my own question in that I just didn't have ALL the necessary dependecies.

I am trying to create an intersection with OWR-3's and since OWR networks do not have trafficlights yet, I wanted to be able to use the maxis props in LE and place them on a park tile so I can plop them. They don't have to be corded to have the sims obey them, but I would like for them to function. Here's the intersection:

Everytime I tried to add the lights to the pole in LE, the lights were always off center and when I would rotate the view in LE, the lights would also change direction to the way I rotated the view while the pole would stay in place. So is there anyway I can fix this? Thanks.

I've recently downloaded the LE and am still trying to get the hang of it but i have two problams that i hope you can solve.I tried making my first (permanent) creation into a privet military school,however the editor would only let me save and not save as,and now my privet school(which is now 7x8) is to big for the cities i've already built the normal privet school in and i woulden't like to rebuild them elsewhere.so my question is,how can i change it back to the original privet school?secondly,is there a way to delete props in the LE?i tired simply reducing the lot size to it's original 3x4 size,but it woulden't remove what was outside of the boundarie.I hope all this makes since.

Could someone tell me how to put the effect in my lot? I want fire in a pit and the le does put it there but in the game it doesnt pop up... Help Please?

Question about the slope angles on a lot in LE.

I was wondering how to make a lot very slopefriendly to its maximum. Which are the Elevation changes that I have to alter to what number?

You can't do that with the Lot Editor. You will need SC4Tool or ilive reader to make a TE-enabled lot.

You'll need to use the "Visual editor for transit enabling lots" function on the initial window. You can find tutorials under the Help menu.

Thanks for your help but I found another help thread. Because when I click on "help" the

SC4 tool crashes.

How do I replace the original building in the lot editor? When I click on "building", I get this button that reads "replace item", but it's faded, and nothing happens when you click on it. Help?

You can't overwrite/replace original Maxis lots with the LE.

You may need to offset the prop, which is done either by rerendering the prop in Gmax/3dsmax, or with model tweaker (easier method).

Hi Guys

 

Ok I just started to play with the lot editor a couple of days ago. I understand you can only have 1 bldg. in the lot. So here is my question. Can you import as a prop a bldg.? In my case The lot i'm trying to make has several bldg.'s on it. But when I go to add a prop I can't find the bldg. in the list. So is there something special I have to do to see all bldg.'s (bats) in the list for props?

 

I have been looking at a couple of tutorials on the LE. But most of them don't get into props. At the moment the LE & plugin manager sure has me pretty confused at the moment anyway. But everything has a leaning curve so I figure I'll eventually figure it out. But in the mean time I'll probably be asking questions here when I get stumped. Like SC4tools is another one with a large learning curve but found some tutorials on it too. I've been a player for a lot of years now I'm getting to the point that I want to learn to lot I doubt I'll get into the BAT though. 3D is not my cup of tea. But who knows. 

 

Also any more ideas for tutorials that I  should read\watch let me know!!
