Why did you join SimTropolis?

I just remebered why I joined SimTropolis almost 2 years ago and I was wondering why everyone else joined. I'll put up a poll but you can reply as well. I joined to get access to the LEX (Now STEX) because SimTrops was much better than the SC4's one.

Well to tell you the truth it started off by trying to get access to the STEX, after that it just moved on to the forums and then chat utill this WAS my new home

i joined because, early on, those at SimCity.com were always talking about this site...it seemed like every day, i would see a new oh, yeah, we just did this! type thread...plus i needed more answers than were provided at the official site.

I dont remember where I found simtropolis from. I think I found it on simcity.com in the fansite links list. But, once I got here I joined because I liked the way people acted around here.

I joined because I had some dumb $%&^! questions I wanted to post. I actually found the site a few months earlier but I thought, Wow, these people are way too intense about this game and I can't understand a thing they're talking about. But I came back.

SimTropolis has a lot of strong advocates and ambassadors over at the Home Site.  ST has really filled a void created when Maxis began to put its attention elsewhere. 

I first used the site to ask questions about game play and then through SimTropolis I discovered all of these specialty niches such as BAT'ing, modding, terraforming, SimMars, and the City Journals.  I used the STEX to enhance my cities and felt comfortable b/c I didn't fear the plagiarism that was plaguing the homesite.  As I acquired downloads I felt a need to give back and started to study some of the tutorials and offering advice in the Forums.  I ultimately found myself really enjoying the Community and hooked on Off-Topic and the other Community Forums. 

Folkses, I'm a clinical social worker without a strong tech background.  And the fact of the matter is that I am proof-positive that a member doesn't have know to every aspect about SimCity or the Maxis' games, let alone other subjects like architecture, networking, or computer graphics- as helpful as they may, to feel welcome in SimTropolis and help others feel welcome in this very cool Community!

SC4 was my first Sims game and, trying to play it, I was getting nowhere fast.  I figured there had to be people out there who could provide a few clues.  So I googled SimCity4, found a few sites, and settled here.  I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the nice, helpful people here.

I picked up SC4, and product registered it..and found a link to a lot of different fan sites on the Maxis site.  I looked at a few of them, but Simtropolis just seemed to be the best of the bunch.  I think it was the fact that Dirk, the Bunny, Jez, Ryan & Hodges (the five original admins) were all just having so much fun in their posts, so after lurking for a couple months, I finally decided to join.  There were also other great people on the site, who have come and gone; but in the whole its just a fun place to hang out online.

I joined for the downloads and after realizing the forums here, I drifted around for about 5 months before making a first post. Now I'm hooked.

Another reason for joining ST: I got bored with SCC.

my reason: because i had messed up my simcity.com registration and desperately wanted to join simcity.com (i know that sounds really stupid these days, but that was back in the day when it was very active and the place to be) i tried to ask about my problem at SCC (which was the major site back then) my questions kept getting ignored and was ignored in general so i tried this website (thankfully people wernt too busy to answer $%&^!'s questions and it got solved) i did get my simcity.com account in the end but i though this site was waay much better so i stayed along. but i only really got involved with the forums when i started my first CJ

Duke told me to join, i saw it as an oppeertuinity to cause some mischeif, bu to my suprise ST was diffrent than all those other joke forums, so i decided to take ST seriousley and have been here ever since.

way WAY back when I was a $%&^!, I joined with the sole purpose of asking Ilive to explain in easier terms how to use the Ilive Easy Tweaker.  I then abandoned the site after giving up with tweaker, and became a lot cop at the official site... then when I came here hearing it's popular... joined SimMars, convinced hayly to let me start the design team... after about a week begging (being laughed at by several other team leaders for being a $%&^! trying to start a gay team) I got the team... and now loads of people know who I am... weird...

I joined simply because I was having problems with www.simcity.com and I saw the Stratoshphere tower on the Maxis Exchange. I got upset and wanted to make sure I could get that tower in my game. So I googled up SC4 downloads and whhaala Simtropolis showed up. I went to the BAT exchange and I saw the Stratoshphere and I was like I have to join. I registered and then I downloaded the tower, and every day during the summer I found my self lurking around the Exchange and downloading everything I saw that interested me. Then one day around Christmas time I started to be come interested in Kd5rax's Taipei 101 in the BAT open disccusion forum. That led me to be come interested in NDEX also. That led me to visiting their forum and that led my post count to about 200. After that I was really interested in the forums and the interesting people of them.

I forget how I found simtropolis, and why I joined. When I joined there were only about 2000 members, and virtually no content on the site that set it above the other ones. Maybe I just had a good feeling about it
