Don't know why I didn't post here before...

As some of you may have guessed, I joined primarily for the chat. And chat is still the main reason I stick around1.gif

I was at home, having taken a week off to tend to a new and sickly kitten.

Seriously.

While she was sleeping, I was bored, ran a Google search for SimCity Mods, and voila!

Months later, Dirk appeared at my door clad in black leotards and smelling of Nutri-Grain bars. As I remember, he was carrying an ancient-looking scroll in one hand, and a menacing claw hammer in the other. The hammer was yellow, and had duct tape wrapped around the handle. He said the duct tape was to keep the essence of my Devout Hammer of Fishpacking from leaking into the Ether.

He dropped the hammer on my toe, slapped me once on each eyebrow, demanded my everlasting and strangely one-sided devotion to the Megalith that will eventually become The Eater Of Planets, and gave me Moderator powers.

The rest is history.

Wow, looking at my join date I reallly don't know if I remember why I joined. It was before or right after the Mac release of the game and don't think we had our own little board yet.

I joined and become the elite member that I am today through a little luck and somme good looks. (Go ahead and check me out at the off topic thread about posting your picture).

I became Moderator and that is when I met my co-Apple Mod and I could never leave.

Oh did I tell you, I'm a troll. Shhhhh, don't tell Oaken.

Why? because I wanted to find a money cheat. Cause Sim City just wont let you have anything if you aren't rich enough. And once I was able to join, I just came back over and over. I think this is a wonderful site, without it I would never been able to my cities to a population over 300k. Oh by the way I got the stex cd, when are you gonna come out with a Vol. 2.

I joined just to get help with playing Sim City 4. ST had many more knowledgeable people, with loads more info than a Prima Guide! Plus this was much more active than the official Maxis site's boards. Didn't really post much at all at first, just lurked really.

Then along came BAT, and the whole world changed....

I lurked for almost a year before deciding to join.  Originally I was looking for information on the game and came here from EA.  I read through almost every forum and looked through the STEX and decided that this place was almost as much fun as playing the game.  So I joined and immediately made the same mistake most noobs do.  I downloaded anything and everything, cramming it here and there, until I had made a complete mess of my plug-in folders.  After lots of problems and crashes I wiped out everything and uninstalled and reinstalled the game.  The second time around I was much more selective and organized everything like my life depended on it.  Now, life is good.10.gif

I think the main reason why I joined was so I'd have access to the then LEX.. I didn't download much and hardly commented either. When I asked a question and no-one replied, I quickly decided that I didn't like Simtropolis and moved to Simcity Central, where they also had a Current Affairs forum. After a while I realized that Simcity Central wasn't much either and returned to Simtropolis, where I then discovered the STEX.. Later on, I decided to download a lot, comment a bit and then start my own City Journal which had been inspired by some of the ones I had seen when I first came here.. And now I continue to return..

Being a huge fan of SC, I should have joined much earlier on.

What made me join finally, was an opening in my alotted internet time. Then gradually, I gave up other web communties to spend even MORE time here at ST! Oh yeah, now I am addicted and can't seem to get anything else done.

Honestly, I am here forever. It's the ability this community has to create art, from a game. A game that is an art medium, in itself, with un-limited possibilities!

Just one beer and I can't be beat. Just a whole case and I can't remember, who beat me up.

Uh... I saw several posts that Simtropolis was the best... etc.

When I saw the STEX, I was so much more impressed then the Simcity 4 official exchange... it was so beautiful... you can post any image you want, instead of the awful pic that the Lot Editor give you and that the Official Exchange uses...

So technically I registered for the STEX but since we started the Winnipeg BAT Re-Creation Project, I've spent WAY more time in the forum and in the chat then in the STEX... I almost never check it now, I guess because I almost never play the game anymore...

In fact, I actually visited ST over a year ago (following a link from simcity.com, in that article about ralphaelninja). I actually didn't notice anything much (I went straight to the section about cheats 22.gif ), and then left the site, never to return. Or so I thought.

Much more recently I had rediscovered SimCity 4 and was going along developing my various cities when I reached a dilemma. I couldn't remember what the cheat code was to unlock all the rewards. Suddenly remembering that little site I was at such a long time ago, I decided to pay a visit. I might have only been another one-time visitor, but something in the recent replies ticker (though I forget what) caught my eye. I clicked, and was instantly pulled in (I was thinking something along the lines of How the heck did that guy make the road go OVER the railroad???). The insane stuff here enticed me to make another attempt at registering my copy of SC4, and once I did, I proceeded to register here. The rest is history.

Hmmm, well lets see. I was on the SC4 BBS, and everyone kept talking about this place called simtropolis, and so I regestered, but never came back. Then about 200 days later I rembered that site called simtropolis again and realised I had an acount. The first thing I ever did was go into the chat and introduced myself! I met a nice guy called Murakumon, who helped me out and told me everything I needed to know. Great guy he was to help out a fool $%&^! like I was! After that day I never looked back! I started a CJ, and have continued to be impressed by the nice, friendly people here just like Murakumon!

So I'm not really sure why exactly, but that was my story! Choco.

Other - Simcity.com is becoming very sluggish and I wanted more action so I moved the Moose Factory from there to here.

I had initially came here a year ago as a different user just for access to the custom content, and never touched the forums. Then I completely forgot about ST, my passwrod, and my ussername. So, shortly after I moved to Texas, I began playing SC4 more and spent one or two months downloading hundreds of BATs from the STEX, then I became an active forumer shortly before christmas. Here I am now.

I moved from Simcity.com to Simtropolis.com after looking in the fansite. I was actually going to join back in 2003, but the design and look through me off. 1.gif
Then I saw all the cool CJs and then I saw the STEX and then I was just blown away.

I came to Simtropolis about a month ago by an unknown reason. The next thing I did was to drool on my keyboard becouse of all the nice stuff I saw. And all of a sudden I was a member.

By the way, Simtropolis ( 3.gif ) is way better than SimCity.com.

I joined in Feb 2003 - on a rainy Belgian day at work, when I had nothing to do. I had just gotten SC4 as birthday present, and was registering my game, when I saw ST mentioned in the fansite section. Joined - and lurked until 1st part of 2005. What made me post? I think it was the fact that I had seen some really beautiful CJs, and because I knew that I was able to create something beautiful, wanted to try my luck, and so was my first CJ Marsalia born. Later got interested in batting, and of course, I am totally sold to this site already for ages ago.
