The sanderson: 8/10 - Nice picture, however IMO those pine trees are a bit to large and in such a civilisated area a seawall/waterfront would be used.

Here's some a city I'm developing; I first want some critics and opinions before even thinking about making it into a CJ.

(Just rate them as if they were one picture)

Where did you get that station with the glass roof?

C0ckatoo-210893 - Amazing, as always: 9.5/10

boon1234 Needs some work, but it's not bad looking: 7/10

sEAhAwk fAn121 - Reminds me of a old, NY looking city I had built. Nice job with photoshop: 9/10

Shadow_prophet - Good use with that new stuff from Pegasus: 8/10

The_sanderson - Not bad, but maybe it's a idea to use some walls. But I like the watermod with the bridges, they're look very realistic together: 7.5/10

caspervg - Needs some work, but it lokks already good! Now 7/10, but when it's finished it could be a 9/10!

aleking - A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I use the same stuff, but you're better 15.gif. If you could say the name of that station, it's a 10/10, now it's a 9.9/10 3.gif

xlchrisij - Very good. Looks very realistic, but try to get some more cars on the streets, or is it a sunday 12.gif? 9.5/10

boon1234:  Just seems a little bland really 4/10

Seahawk:  Nice city, I knida like the rain effects, very realistic. 8/10

Shadow_prophet:  A little Maxisy and repetitive but I love peg's boardwalks so 7/10

The_sanderson:  Just looks a little strange seeing skyscrapers in a forest of massive redwoods... 6/10

caspervg:  Rate ONE image, but for an overall mark 6.5/10. I'm sure it'll look a lot better when it's done.

ak:  Oh tath's horribles! Yea right... you couldn't have made that look any cooler if you tried. That’s a 10/10 easily.

xlchrisij:  Just a bunch of skyscrapers really. Still looks nice though so 5/10

Nerd_guy:  Again, Rate ONE image people! You're images are so different that I can't give them an overall mark. 1st picture: 7/10. 2nd: 6/10.

EDIT:

Where did you get that station with the glass roof?quote>

koekie01, I'll help you out, he downloaded it here:

xlchrisij: A city with no lights?? The skyscrapers are nice, but they clash with the sand beach. The pic looks great even though you didn't do the fireworks. So I'll give it a 6/10.

xlchrisij - The fireworks are awesome! Very festive. The bridge is also cool. But like connorc24 said, where are the lights? It feels a bit unrealistic that way.

6.5 - 7/10, somewhere around there.

Yeah, I need a night light patch, but I can't find it anywhere, and already tried tons of stuff. I have VISTA btw!

The_sanderson: 7.5/10 Very nice but to me seems highly out of place.

caspervg: 5/10 Looks barren to me...

aleking: 9.5/10 Love the sunken highway

xlchrisij: 7/10 not bad but a little plain for me

Nerd_Guy: I will rate overall, 7.6/10

C0ckatoo-210893: 9.9/10 .. someone needs to teach me how to do those fireworks!!!!!!

xlchrisij: 8.7/10 .... I want your fireworks....(oh and small deduction for no noghtlights but thats only minor/

My contribution.

Crits and comments and can someone tell me how to make fireworks like C0ckatoo-210893 does with his pics??

I liked this one so much I thought I'd do a remake of it.

Sineralopolis-7Jun161198848985.jpg

*Don't vote for the remake picture. The only votable picture is the one above the second pic.*

xlchrisij: Great fireworks too 9.5/10! 44.gif

Shadow_prophet: Killer skyline! Love the colors! 11/10!!! 36.gif14.gif

Pooty: Too bad I can't rate the second image. 8/10. (the second would be 9!)

xlchrisij:  Nice fireworks! If you need the night lighting patch, why don't you just download it from here --> http://simcity.ea.com/coolstuff/bat/index.php (Sim City 4 Update 14.4 MB is the night lighting update  for BAT's). Dose in not work on Vista? 7/10 but would have been 9 if you had night lighting.

Shadow_prophet:  Oh dude, you don't know how close to perfection that is! That would have been an easy 10/10 for me if you had just left out that massive horrible looking box that fills up the right third of the image. I'm still going to give 9/10 though, really fantastic editing, some of the best I've ever seen!

Pooty: That's an awesome re-make of xlchrisij's image! Great photo effects, looks like a movie! 8.5/10

Hiigarar:  Nice, way to many Maxis trees though. You might get told by a mod that the max image size is 600x800 so re-size it before they catch you. 7/10 Still a very nice image!

Okay, I'll take you through how I create fireworks step by step.

1. Take your original image of your city (preferably at night). If you want to create a Mosaic like I have, there's a tutorial on how to do that in the omnibus.

2. Search the internet (Google Images) for a nice image of a firework with a black and un-interrupted background. Below is a perfect example of a good starting image:

Tuto1.jpg

3. Copy your firework image into your photo editing program of choice (I'm using Paint Shop Pro 7), And re-size it somewhere in the range of 400-700 pixels wide depending on the size of your original Sim City screen shot and how big you want your fireworks to appear. Because I'm on a close zoom and an 800px wide mosaic, I chose about 600px wide:

Tuto2.jpg

4. Copy your newly re-sized image and paste in onto your Sim City screen shot as a  NEW LAYER (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)

Tuto3.jpg

5. Now select the 'Magic Wand' tool and select the black background that surrounds the fireworks. You might need to play with the tolerance a little but I find about 80 to bee a good level for getting rid of all the black sky and not touching the firework. Click.... Oh what? It selected all outside my black stuff! What do I do!? Don't worry, because you pasted it as a new layer, it won't touch your Sim City background.

Tuto4.jpg

6. Now drag your selected area off to the side of the image and you should be left with just the firework on the background.

Tuto5.jpg

7.  Now just work some eyecandy magic and your done!

xlchrisij: A bit boring. Nice skyscrapers though. Would look even better with some cars. 5/10

C0ockatoo-210893: Amazing!! 10/10

xlchrisij 2nd pic: A city with no lights?? The skyscrapers are nice, but they clash with the sand beach. The pic looks great even though you didn't do the fireworks. So I'll give it a 6/10.

Shadow_prophet: Looks really nice! I love the lights of the buildings! I little bland though so you get a 8.5/10

Pooty: I can't help rate your revised one! Looks so much better! I'm stunned at the difference! Great work! 9/10

C0ockatoo-210893: Amazing again dude! And thanks for the tutorial! Another perfect 10!!!

sEAhAwk fAn121, 7.5/10

Shadow_prophet, nice beach 8.7/10

The_sanderson, Whats with the super trees lol 6.3/10

caspervg, boring 5/10

aleking, very nice 7.5/10

xlchrisij, rooftops arn't that interesting

C0ckatoo, this isn't one of your best. The fireworks are great, but the background is very dark and unclear. 7.5/10

xlchrisij, This is good, very good lighting and a clear image 9/10

Shadow_prophet, love the buildings and the colors, oh and the lighting too. 8.6/10

Pooty, I'd have to say you redeemed that image, that looks awesome 10/10

Hiigarar, not to interesting, looks to stock 6.7/10

C0ckatoo, very nice of you do go through that for those that desired it, I would have just told them use photoshop. If they have it, they would know the basics, if they don't have it, not worth bothering with.

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

I'll do that. I have parking all over the place, and I didn't know how much was too much. I guess in LA's car culture you can't have too much parking...

C0ockatoo-210893: Amazing fireworks display And thanks for the tutorial, I'll have to go try it out now. 9.9/10

Pooty- 8/10 Nice old feel, though its just that.

football_fever -7/10 since there is no lighting on some of the buildings and it looks a little bland.

I was glad to receive some good crits for that last pic of mine lol so that is definately a keeper. Though my next contribution might not get the same thing. but anyways, Comments and crits are highly appreciated and welcomed of course.

Do forgive the repetition.
