Well, I still can't write really good storylines like you can, but I think I did an okay job in my first story in my CJ.

Anyway, I love how you've presented the struggles of the townspeople in trying to decide on imperial insight or not. You've got great story-writing skills, man! You can't deny it! I continue to feel the ruralness of this CJ because of the way you place everything in the town. I'm looking forward to more of this great CJ!

Just wanted to say a super big thank you to everyone for commenting on the last update! I had quite a bit of fun with it so the comments are very much appreciated.

The next installment will be coming very soon so I hope you all stay tuned.

    And now for...

    Personal Replies

collgab – thanks for stopping by Mystic County! I am really glad you like it. Realism is definitely what I am aiming for – although I feel like it gets harder for me to keep up with the bigger the city gets.

Battlecat – I owe you a couple of thanks! I am so glad that you like the canal system and I am really glad that you are keeping up with the story! You are right that things hit a bit of a lull in the latest update. The Chancellor gambled that the settlers would accept imperial oversight in return for financial aid, etc., and he proved right. But things could still quickly sour, so stay tuned for more!

anubi89 – Welcome to Mystic County – I am so glad you liked it. The nature shots are some of my favorite ones to take – particularly ever since I downloaded all of Cycledogg’s wonderful mods. He makes it very easy. Thanks for commenting!

szarkoz – That is praise indeed! I have considered your CJ one of my inspirations so I am very humbled by your kind words. I am also glad you like how I am putting the story together. I have always enjoyed telling a story through letters or journal entries or the like – I feel like it adds a nice touch of realism, as though the entire world of the narrative extends much further beyond the actual characters and their lives. I tried it with journal entries in my last CJ, but this time I wanted to do a mix. We’ll see how it turns out. Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you here again soon!

mightygoose – thanks for the comment! I think being able to provide detail is one of the great things about SC4 – and all the wonderful downloads from STEX and elsewhere just make it that much more fun – I just wish it wasn’t so time consuming! Thanks for stopping by; please do come again!

metasmurf – hey, thanks for the comment. Actually that is not a bridge but a dock. If you look at a couple of the other pictures you will see that it only extends a little ways out into the water. The dock is a prop that comes with one of the Japanese dock sets. The dock was actually part of a much larger lot. I just used the prop to make my own, much smaller fishing pier. I'll add the link below.

    hIMAGINE (Japanese Gallery)

GaBoR – Welcome to Mystic County! Thanks for the kind comment.

Darmok – Thanks again for commenting – it is always appreciated!

jglei701 – Greetings from Mystic County! Thank you so much for the lovely comment.

owenluby – thanks for the comment and thank you for stopping by!

JoeMeister – Thanks for very kind words. I do try to do something that is a bit off the beaten track. I admit that it doesn’t always work, but when it does the results can be very worthwhile. I do hope you come again!

MayorTim – Dude...thanks! And thanks for visiting!

morganite – thanks for commenting – it is very much appreciated! I love the trees and fields myself, so there will be much more greenery on its way!

cityhawk – thank you again, my friend, for your very kind words. For now I just hope I have the time to keep it going. The people are definitely struggling with the Empire, some much more than others. Their fate…well, that is still undetermined.

Yoman3 – I’m so sorry to hear your LotEditor won’t load! I would be so lost without it. There may be something you can do to fix that. I would recommend asking for help there in the tech/bugs section. As for the tanks/people lined streets, that is just a matter of making a transit enabled lot using the street overlays in LotEditor. I just placed the tanks on the street the way I wanted them and then did the same with the people. Once you’ve created the lot you have to tweak it a bit in iLive so that it will be transit enabled – i.e. so that the lot actually connects to the streets around it each end. Hope that helps, but I must say that without LotEditor you might be in trouble. I do thank you for stopping by and thank you so much for the comment!

kottaiajmel – Welcome to Mystic County! Thank you so much for reading – I am really glad you like the story.

Thanks again everyone for commenting as always!! The next update will be here soon!

I love the mayors house picture on one of the previous pages... really great use of all those textures and props that Cycledog released... Did you make the lots yourself? I'd be interested if you released these to the exchange.

The scenery in the last few pictures is really beautiful. The little boats and all that detail.. really great. All those farms and other custom lots look great. They really add a personal touch to your CJ.

Hi, your story and region is great! I like how you tell parts of the story in letters. And also warwick looks very nice, so much detail you have put into it: the canals, all the little field surrounded by fences and filled with animals. It looks very real. I can't wait to see what happens, as far as i can see the empire tries to win the heart's of the people and then it betrays them.

Going to have an update in a sec - with my very first mosaics ever! So please be patient with me (and kind). They might not work on my first try.

Just a few more personal replies:

Fox - Welcome to Mystic County, and thanks for the nice comment! I did arrange most of the lots that you see - e.g. the mayor’s ranch, every R$ lot, the fishing lots, and the lankmarks. I have also tweaked many of the lots. PEG’s cabins, for instance, had a much too high capacity for my taste. They ranged from like 25 to 45 per cabin which created a huge traffic headache in a small town. I think I lower the capacity on all of them down to around 9 or 10. I did the same with some of SimGoobers which were a little too high for a rural community has well.

I didn’t make any of the BAT’s of course. That credit goes to people much more talented than I. At this point I have no plans to upload anything to STEX as they are really just for my personal enjoyment and I have not asked permission from any of the people who made the textures and props to do so.

Simfan34 - Hey, thanks for the comment and thanks for visiting Mystic County. That lot you see is a residential lot from CSX available on STEX. I’ll provide the link below.

    CSX Military Camp Genesis

Ynterboy - Hey, nice to see you in Mystic County! Thanks for the lovely comment. Also, thanks for reading the story line! Yes, the people of Mystic County are definitely in for some surprises. In fact, they are going to get one in the next update...today!

Thanks again everyone! Stay tuned for the next update!

Here's the next update! Huge mosaics below!

    The Invasion, Part III

From the archives of the Linden Province Historical Society:

    December 27, year ‘59

    Dear Mom,

In any case, I just wanted to share with you the big news. They are getting ready to begin construction on the new rail line this week! You know what this means of course. You will finally be able to come visit us and stay with us and we need you to so badly mom. I miss you so much. I will give you an update on the progress soon.

None of us wanted the Empire here. But I think once the line is complete, everyone will agree that it was worth it.

    Love,

    Dale

From the Chancellor’s official provincial report log on Mystic County, kept by Special Council Victoria Shipman:

The small populations at Warwick and the Brush Neck Delta settlements have embraced the rail construction project overall. Our internal sources indicate that although some discontent still remains, the Chancellor shall have no difficulty implementing his occupation. The local magistrates have been successfully installed in both settlements and have already begun to arbitrate minor disputes. At this stage, we can reasonably say that the population will quickly become dependent upon imperial oversight and thus will have no difficulty when we are ready to launch Project Delta.

So far we have had no trouble in constructing the new line. Because residents had already built an intricate irrigation system, the decision was made to work around that system to avoid any possible irritation. They did, however, require some of the settlements streets to be reconstructed.

    invasion-21.jpg

    invasion-22.jpg

And although the rail line has not be completed through to Brush Neck Delta yet, the Warwick Planning Council has helped to erect the first rail depot in order to transmit goods in and out of Warwick faster.

    invasion-23.jpg

From the archives of the Linden Province Historical Society

    March 23, ‘60

    Dear mom,

Well, from what I have heard the rail line is pretty much done. Rufus and I took a ride over to Brush Neck Delta yesterday. It was really awesome to go over and back so quickly. We have been helping them with their fishing co-op. Because Rufus and I have been so successful, we want to begin a regional distribution program so that our fish is available to any of the other small settlements around Mystic County.

Everything else seems to be going well. I was disappointed by your last letter when you said that the Chancellor was not letting you take any time off for at least another month. I guess I think that the Chancellor can spare you. I wish would you tell me more about what you are doing right now and what this big “project” is that you keep mentioning. I guess it must be pretty important.

Oh, and remember how I told you that Magistrate Baumgartner built his house way out on the northwest edge of the settlement? Well it seems that not everyone in town is very happy with him. For the last two nights someone has thrown rocks through his windows. I think he only has a couple left!!

    invasion-24.jpg

    invasion-25.jpg

    invasion-26.jpg

I think most of the people were pretty annoyed when he insisted that the street in front of his house be paved. I just try to ignore him. Of course he’s here as the Chancellor’s stooge, but look at all that we get in return!

From the Chancellor’s official provincial report log on Mystic County, kept by Special Council Victoria Shipman:

The rail line is now complete as is the new facility at Lower Cumberland Falls. All reports from the Security Council suggest that the Chancellor may now commence with Operation Delta.

    invasion-28.jpg

It will be advised by this Council, however, that some relations in Warwick may have grown a bit stale. It seems that Magistrate Baumgartner has begun to run into a bit of vandalism on his property. However, we have no indications that such sentiments run through the community in any systematic way.

From the personal journal of Rufus Delacroix, in April of the year 60:

    April 2

I hate the Chancellor and his little puppy dog that he sent here so much and I am so angry with Dale for just giving in. I know he has had family trouble for years now and is desperate to reunite his family but I can brook no compromise. What’s more, I have a suspicion that Chancellor is up to so much more. Trains keep coming with special messengers for Baumgartner nearly every day! And what’s more, they are not coming from the rail line heading out of Warwick to the north! If they were coming from the imperial capital that is the direction they would come from. But no one knows why the Chancellor built that line heading out into Mystic County due west. What could be out there? No one can get a straight answer out of Baumgartner. I want some answers. Dale says I am just being paranoid and that the Chancellor is probably just trying to connect different remote parts of the Empire. But I am not buying it.

    April 10

I finally packed up and headed out on my own. Dale finally agreed with me that we needed to look into this but one of us has to stay and keep the co-op operation going. I don’t know how many days I will be gone. It has already been 3 days and I am still hiding in the bushes and the trees and gullies at night so that no passing trains will see me. Twice a day a train goes by. Once heading towards Warwick; and once heading back from Warwick to god knows where.

    April 15

I have now been gone 8 days and I think I am nearing something. I can see something in the distance which looks like it might be some kind of communications tower! It is sort of rising up out of the mountains and the trees. All I know is that I cannot be seen. Also, last night I heard what sounded like several repeated explosions. It sounded almost like weapons testing. Tonight I am going to sneak across the tracks and cut around back into the hills and up the mountain range to try to see what is going on.

    April 16

Up near the top of the mountains now. There is definitely an enormous communications tower, the biggest I have ever seen! I can also hear more noise, explosions, trucks, and even occasion people shouting. Tonight I am going to sneak down and get as close as possible.

    April 17

Oh god. I knew it. We are all doomed.

This can't be good for relations between the settlers and the empire!  I wonder how the settlers will deal with this force.

Beautiful work on these updates it all looks great.  That new stream pack and the military lots are pretty incredible!
