I have a question.

I was wondering what your list of planned buildings are at the current moment because I was just asking whether or not you wold do any UK style buildings, I think your touch would be greatly appreciated by all of us who are from the UK. Thanks

I started this as a PM to anandus, but why not post my thoughts in public?

I just read that you moved the BSC canal lots to the water transportation menu. That was exactly what my first thoughts were when I got the canal packs. However, I always had other, more important stuff to do, and when I finally came around to playing SC4 again, I couldn't wait any longer and just left them as they were. 18.gif

However, I'm sure that some people would appreciate the modified versions, myself being one of these people. Have you modified all the sets (including locks, bridges, and other add-on packages), or just the base sets?

Anyway, I guess you could either upload it to a free file hoster like Rapidshare or Megaupload and what they're all called, or I could ask Andreas Roth from the BSC team if he would host the files on his webspace. Then you could post a link here, and that would be it.

Another possibility I see is taking all the modified exemplar files, merging them into a DAT, and posting this DAT onto the STEX. The DAT would need a name and/or a location to make sure it gets loaded after the canal lots, then the new menu position should work.

I'd say, if a modified version of the canal lots is published, it should also have the "menu icon management" feature daeley and I am working on at the moment. SimGoober has created a wide variety of pieces, and since the water transit menu is almost as full as the park menu (at least when you're also using some of the sets Pegasus has created), this would be a really nice feature. Merging the modified DATs into a DAT and name it "z_SG_canal_pieces.dat" or something like this would do the trick without too much hassle.

@T wrecks:

I didn't receive a PM? Not that I can see, anyway 4.gif

Anyway:

I modded them all, bridges, locks, etc.

And I was planning zipping them and putting them on one of those filehosters.

But this thing Andreas and Daeley are working on sounds really good. Maybe see what that is?

Although I can upload the modded version for the time being. But I'll wait for SG to give an okay-sign for that 4.gif

@ anandus: I had started to write a PM to you, but then I changed my mind and just posted it all in the forums instead of PM'ing you. 2.gif

Simgoober, the Sim Swim Arena is one of the files that's not showing on the STEX. I wouldn't mention, but I kind of need it for the National Sports Centre in my region...

Tracker: you really shouldn't pass files around. SG will upload it again when he has time or a BSC member can do it under the BSC banner.

[/q] I understand, Barby. But the airport issue will most likely not make it, so I sent the file because it is unlikely to return to STEX.

P.S. Where's your hotel, Goober? Not on the STEX!

No...at least WITH the airport features. There are so many dependencies that this gets complicated.

The Heliport was scrapped. I even deleted the version I had a few weeks ago after losing another city in an experiment. To be candid, I never really liked the model anyhow. I think the flight deck area turned out well, but the building was rather boring. I am toying with making a different version of it, but it's just an idea at this point, so no promises.

Howdy guys, not sure if anyone can help me here...but I've installed the Clock Tower train station and the passenger rail station by SimGoober and for some reason when people use them, the capacity of the station is only 2 instead of 20,000...has anyone else encountered this? They're great looking and I want to use both of them, but I need that 20,000 capacity so more than 2 Sims can use them :-)

Oh yeah, and I have a Mac. Is this the problem, maybe? Thanks!

This seems to be a Mac-related problem, I had some reports from Mac users who downloaded the GLR tram stations and the tram museum with the same problem. If it's only the number that is displayed wrong, don't worry. If the station is maxed out with only 2 passengers (so all icons are greyed out), this could be a real problem. But I suspect it's only a graphical program, since the numbers in the file are correct.

@Andreas, I have noticed that the "Transit Switch Traffic Capacity" property in the SFBT glr stations has a rep count of 1, while the ingame stations have 0. This means something like "an array containing one item" rather than a "single item". Maybe this could cause the problems on the Mac (different byte order/boundary alignment and possibly different data representation). It is possible to change this in iLive, remove all values and type-in or paste the correct value in the "Values as text" box and click Apply. The same applies to the "Transit Switch Entry Cost" property as well. I would say try this and send the modified version to a Mac owner, to see if this fixes the problem.

Yeah, it's not just a graphical problem as far as I can tell...the icons are all greyed-out as you described, and the congestion on the traffic data view is red. I'm not sure what the problem is, since I'm using the S-Bahn set in my game and there's no capacity problem there. I haven't tried GLR, so I can't say if it works like the S-Bahn does. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the follow up, guys :-)

@cogeo: Thanks for the tip, this might have something to do how SC4Tool handles the Transit Switch properties. Obviously, it doesn't harm on a Windows system, but with a Mac, quite some other problems could appear (jeronij is currently battling with one as well). I will update the GLR stations soon, but I'll leave the train stations to SimGoober.

Great work SG on all your releases. I was curious about one thing. Would be possible to modify your urgent care BAT to act like a large hospital with max coverage (aka large city) as this would allow more realism? Thanks and keep up the great work.

Just for a piece of realism from someone in the medical field...

Urgent Care centers are not designed to provide overall health care to an entire city.  What they are designed to do is take care of the minor crap that floods our hospital emergency rooms every year.  If you think you have the flu and want to go to the hospital, go to an urgant care center...if you got a minor cut that needs 2 or 3 stiches, go to an urgent care center...if you twisted your ankle and need X-rays...go to an urgant care center.  This keeps the emergency room of your local hospital not quite so crowded so the doctors and nurses can focus on pts having problems that are life threatening, such as chest pains, trouble breathing, so on and so forth.  Goober is correct the way he set up the BAT originally in regards to realism...

Like I said, just my two cents to add to the realism comments...I've been in the medical field for 17 going on 18 years, so I ought to know... 2.gif

Goober and Aldara are both on the money when it comes to Urgent Care Centers.Goober has a excellent Hospital on STEX.

    Thanks BlackBeard...

One thing I forgot to put in the last post...if people really want to be realistic, a medium to large city should have like 2 hospitals and 2-3 urgent care centers for each hospital...that is how most large cities do it...although the larger the city (geographically and population) the more of each you need... 10.gif

I have to agree with aldara6166 and SimGoober - this would not add more realism, in fact it would be taking it away. just my 2 cents.

PS; SimGoober, just checking in to see what you are planing next, by the way - hows the new store? hope all is well.

LOL...so what you are all saying is that every city has a large hospital or more every couple of miles. I think not. Take for example where i live there are only 2 large hospitals covering a county of 400 square miles.

I think it depends on the size of the city(Population) if there is a Hospital. What is lacking is Doctor offices and Dentist.

When I need a simple check up I go to my Doctor not the Emergency Room.
