Date: 2/16/2006 9:20:19 AM Author: SimGoober I have withdrawn this lot until I can figure out why it is working for some people, and completely screwing up for others.  I will keep it in testing until I am as sure as possible it won't screw up any more cities.

Always prompt and responsible 'customer service' from you, SimGoober.  I, for one, really appreciate that.

I second that, Thank you SimGoober.

May I add another small life saving advice. Frequently back up your region. Make it a habit to copy your region to a safe location every couple of days.
Go into your MyDocuments\Simcity4\Regions\ and copy the region folder with all the files within to a different location preferably to another hard drive or removable media. Rename the copied folder and add a date to it for easier reference should you need to retrieve it.

Just FYI.  Swamper and Barby have been working behind the scenes to figure this thing out, and I want to offer my sincerest thanks to both of them for the time and effort.  Without it, this project probably would have just died.

It now appears, (and this is all still theory) that certain custom airports conflict with others, and depending on which mix of files you have, you will get different things happening in game. This explains why I never had these issues before upload, as I didn't have any other custom airports.  I have the Seaplane base by Ripptide, but had not used it yet.

My thought of the moment is I will re-upload the lot with two versions.  A custom airport, use at your own risk.  And a generic plop, no airport properties.  Maybe I'll put the funstional version in a separate installer, so the average user won't get it unless they specifically want it.  It can screw up a region after all....

Also, just as Swamper is doing something else to clear his head, so am I.  I had a lot I worked on a while ago grow for me last weekend, so I think i'll pack it up and submit it this weekend.... This is a near duplicate to one being built a ways away from me, it caught my eye a months or so ago, and I snapped a few pictures of it.

Wow-this is gonna be awesome Simgoober!!  No more Lion sign huh?  Man I hated shopping at Food Lion, I used to live in Virginia Beach down by Independence Blvd, and I hated that one on Independence.  Always went to Kroger on VA Bch Blvd, or Harris Teeters. Gonna be back in May to visit the Inlaws - can't wait to see what they did to Columbus Plaza (the tower - and Pembroke Mall area).   But this one is really excellent, what's the restaurant that's in the plaza???

The building on the corner is an Eckerd Drug.  I had to shrink the picture, so it's not clear.  There are three variations of the Eckerds, which is also on a separate growable lot (3x3 I think).  The food lion is by itself on a 5x4 growable, and the whole center is an 8x8 grow and plop.  I've had the growable Eckerds and center more than once each, and the food lion once.

Wow, yet again another realistic looking shopping center. Yeah, it seems like a lot of shopping centers now have that one little building at the corner. Brillant and fantastic job, Simgoober!

For those of you having problems with the Heliport, see my post here: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=68938&pageNo=2&num=30

And, SoulStealer, I need to back up my region several times day.

LOL one of the joys of being a beta tester. 48.gif Your dedication is most appreciated.

@Simgoober, another fine detailed product from your workshop. it will serve as a place of honor and holy consumerism in one of my suburbs. 1.gif
    Thanks.

SG, I've been having some problems with (I assume) custom queries.  I've downloaded all the dependencies listed, but the queries for your distribution centers, the coal mine, GooberGen Labs, Food Lion Center, and several others don't work.  When I query them, it gives me the query sound but nothing pops up.

Latest releases have been incredible, btw.  Got me back into the game!

SG - I have a question/comment about the Hardun Industries Steel Mill lot-

In one of my cities, I'm using the ploppable lot (don't know if that makes a difference), and I'm not showing any texture under the railway tiles.  Just the game background showing through the ground.  Now I've checked and quadruple-checked my plugins folder for the dependencies (in fact the last two days I completely re-did it - something I don't care to do again), but I still don't get it.  Has something slipped through the cracks on my end, or is there an unlisted dependency?

Otherwise, I must say great work, makes me itch to get back into BATing full-time again.  Someday.

    Thanks
    Chris

It shows me the same, no texture under the rail and under trees just the games' ground. Although it looked a little odd I thought it was normal.
And I have all dependencies as listed.

Whoopsee... When I put the readme together, I based it off of the growable, and forgot to check the plop.  It uses the base textures from the PEG MTP Mountain Theme Pack , found here  : https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=14025 .

Now isn't it interesting how green the grass is around a steel mill?? 17.gif

You ought to make a trip up here to Lackawanna and the old Bethlehem Steel plant.  You'd understand why they call them brownfields!

This was from the 70s.   Just subtract the air pollution (and that funky smell in the air that I can still remember), half the buildings, several thousand jobs, and you have a microcosm of what the American steel industry looks like now.

Well, well.  I hope you're planning more heavy industry lots, we need more!

Though I'm curious to see what you'd do with a CJ.

The thing I have been interested in are abandoned or revitalized places. Like the old steel mills in Pittsburgh or Bethlehem. Maybe you could consider an abandoned version....not like the abandoned in the game though. It would essentially have a NIMBY effect unless you wanted it to have a museum or park effect.

I built a Hardun Coal Mine and forgot to add water. oops. But I added some industrial zone and by chance it grew the foundary. Very cool.

But, do remember that if you are building these coal mines, be sure to build a patch town and appropriate electrical and water systems. They would, of course, have such things on or near site.

Anyway SimGoober is a god. I donated to Simtropolis because of his (her?) work. Well done on anything. I have a very SG themed type of town going on.

Hopefully I can get back to the CJ soon. My life just got upended with the realization that my wife is pregnant...so....

    Thanks again.

Hey SG, i love your new industrial lots, escpecially the hardun ones. After seeing your coal warf with the crane it reminded me of something... we have so many great intermodel containers from jestarr and gascooker, yet we have no crane to place on our waterfronts to load and unload them onto ships. I thought it would go along good with your recent industrial batting spree. fosterk had been making one, but I haven't seen an update from him since august. here's a pic of the one fosterk was working on.

Hi SG I just dl your outdoor world bat (an excellent one!) and I'm missing the base textures for the plopable. at first when I plop it seems fine then after a while it get screwed up and I get bluish color instead of the base. Of course I have all textures in place, any idea?

Hmmm.. funny how some things slip through, and it takes forever to find out about it.  Appearantly I used the grass texture that came with the SFBT Garbage lot ( https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=11946 ).  I didn't know that until today when I scanned it with Sc4Tool ; great for this sort of thing BTW.  Tells me which textures/props come from which files.

I also found a minor glitch today on the coal yard in the query.  I'll try to update it later.

I've been busy downloading all the new MEGA prop files from STEX. Do you have a new prop file out there... I didn't see one? Vlakhaas refers to a file named BSC MEGA Props-SG Vol01.dat in the ReadMe for CSX Mansion Audley End. All I have is your Mega Pack Vol 01 from May 2005. And Vol 08.

Wow, that texture seems to be cursed... 2.gif I had to update the garbage lot three times until everything was right (what a great start for the SFBT series...). But as you said, SC4Tool will track down everything, it's more or less the only way to tell which textures come from which file.

I don't have a MEGA file put together.  I believe Vlakhaas merged all his prop files together, so that he reduced the number of files on his system.  Unfortunately, it means that prop comes from ONE of my prop packs, but I have no idea which one.

Hm... let's see if I can do this.. lol

I have been extremely busy as of late, and it won't be letting up anytime soon.  I have started a small office building, just for fun. I am not sure how long it will take, as I only have 30 or so minutes a day to "play"...
