About This File

A Simple map created from USGS data of the chicago area. A nice big city settled on the shores of Lake Michigan and home to the Sox and Cubs.

This map is of downtown, basically 15 milesx15 miles in size, i wasnt able to get all of the southside and northside on this map due to size constraints.

I give the author a thumbs up. This is a very accurate map of Chicago and it's western suburbs. Anybody not from Chicago, this map is the Southside of Chicago. I hope we can get a map of the North Side too!!!

I don't think this map is accurate. What is that other river? and why is the chicgo river an odd curve like that and with no north chicago river or des plains(maybe not going that far west). The USGS data just won't cut it for chicago.

You're right.. No Des Plaines River in the western suburbs and it also looks like the North Branch of the River wants to get started but doesn't go anywhere. That other river is the Calumet Sag Channel, it runs through Palos, Crestwood, Blue Island, Calumet and Dolton.

Another thing about Chicago is that horizontally, it's only about 8-10 miles wide. Vertically, it is huge, about 25-30 miles running north-south. That is why the city is typically divided as North Side and Southside... Ask southsiders what they think of the cubs...

Yeah... the cubs do suck... especially their fans... anyone who lives in Wrigleyville needs help... of course if they can afford to live in Wrigleville then they can afford it. C'mon, no Des Plaines! I love the Des plaines. Without it this is just another topographical abortion.

Love this map, but it keeps crashing my computer so that it completely shuts off, then when I re-open the region, its corrupted, so that only 4 cities are still there.

Yea I live in Chicago. this map is no where near cutting it. Maybe the south side, but for sure Downtown isn't in there. If downtown is on there, then where is Northerly Island, which use to be Meigs Field for small airplanes. That is downtown! This no where near a map of Chicago sorry.
