  1. Dependency on Subways?

How much clout can the taxi drivers have? Connecting the metromover or metrorail to Miami Beach would create much revenue for the city. Elevated rail would fit perfectly along traveling east/west along 5th street and north/south along Washington Avenue. Asthetically, I don't believe Washington Avenue would lose much as that entire avenue is pretty ghetto until you get to Lincoln Road Mall. I wouldn't necessarily call this idea a dream due to the cries of taxi drivers, I mean look at cities with elite subway systems like New York and Chicago. Is Miami really that far off? I think it has more to do with the cities of Miami and Miami Beach coffing up the money to make this happen. There's also that occasional issue that happens every few summers, I forget the name, oh yeah...hurricanes.
  2. CHICAGO...As real, as it gets...

Hey Afuegosky, I'm from the southside, do you have any development in the Bridgeport area yet? The neighborhood that is home to the World Champion Chicago White Sox yet? There are so many areas in Chicago to see, how about the Hyde Park area? Or even more interesting, Midway Airport. The crazyiest thing about Midway Airport is how it is right in the middle of a neighborhood, any chance you'll be expanding that far south?
  3. Cellular Tower

This is pretty cool. I work for T-Mobile and think this is a fun addition to the game. Some cell sites are placed right on top of office buildings, so those who think this tower is too short can maybe hide it in between some of their taller commercial buildings.
  4. CHICAGO...As real, as it gets...

Great job, amazing. I love it when my hometown is so nicely represented. Can you show Navy Pier? I can see it in the region pics from afar and was wondering how real it's come out to look close up.[:0]
  5. NDEX Nitron Center by Superstar

Wow this building is spectacular. Did you mean to make it look like that building in Los Santos (San Andreas)? The one that has a helipad and parachute at the top?
  6. Indianapolis

That's a pretty big baseball stadium in that photo near the RCA Dome. What team plays in that baseball stadium?

Date: 1/10/2005 2:54:48 AM Author: Pilot3033 EGLL: London Hethrow is claims that title, KATL Atlanta Hartsfeild (or Harts Feild) Claims that title for the U.S. Only And besides, the most importan airfeild that should be included in a Chicago region is (teh airport formely knonw as) Merril C. Meigs Field. Daley took a buldozer to it 2 years back, but it owould be great to itt it in the CJ (use a Municipla or small airfeild ont he island). -Matt I know, I'm picky quote> I just checked it out and you are correct. That airport in Atlanta is the busiest in the US. It handles over 77M passengers while Chicago's O'hare International handles over 72M. L.A.X. came in third. No wonder, I went to Jacksonville Florida in December of '04. On the way to and from Jacksonville, our plane stopped in Atlanta and both times it seemed to take forever to be cleared for take-off. Anyway, I understand Mayor Daley's decision to bulldoze the runways of Meigs Field. We all remember what happened in 2001. For those of you not from Chicago, Meigs Field was a tiny airport right off Chicago's Downtown coast. At first, the mayor asked Downtown Chicago to be a no fly zone, too much of a terrorist risk to allow planes to land close to building's like the Sears Tower, Hancock Center, Aon Center, etc... not to mention all the students and staff at Universities in the area such as UIC, Columbia, Roosevelt, De Paul etc... Also, the airport was right next to the then 66,000 seat Soldier Field (home of the Chicago Bears) and also next to McCormick place, a huge convention center. Mayor Daley decided to bulldoze Meigs in the middle of the night, as to not have anyone stop him from doing it. The next morning the mayor expressed his anger at the government for not granting his request that downtown Chicago be a no fly zone, while Disneyworld was a no fly zone. I hope to see it in the city journal as well. why not? sure would look good There's Meigs. You can see it's proximity to downtown. You only get to see HALF of McCormick Place to the left, while the red and blue seats of the old Soldier Field can be seen below the Sears Tower.
  8. CHICAGO...As real, as it gets...

Hi. I like your recreation of Chicago. Grant Park looks amazinging accurate. I got a bone to pick though! Why mostly north side and no south side in those region pics??? Gotta at least put in Midway Airport and the surrounding neighborhoods! For those of you not from Chicago, O'Hare International Airport is the busiest airport in the world (they say). It is located in the far northwest Chicagoland area just outside the city and is undergoing expansion. Chicago Midway Airport is Chicago's other airport, smacked down right in the middle of a residential area. People jog around the perimeter of this airport and if your not from around the area, you'd wonder how in the world people sleep at night. I still remember being a little kid at a red light at the intersection of 63rd and Cicero Avenue and thinking that if I were taller I could have jumped up and touched an airplane's tires as it was landing. EDIT: Okay. I just noticed that SirGawain's region map is what I looked at. I can't wait to see your region pic as your rendition of Chicago expands.
  9. Minneapolis

Nice pics so far, I like this city journal! Show us more pics and don't forget to re-size your first two picks before they get deleted!

I may do Border books as we have those here and they are good. I've not done much more work to the mall just now as you start to get bored doing one thing for a long time. I've been sidetracked building some local 'high street' style buildings on the STEX now. quote> Ok why would a mall have only one music source inside of it? and why in the world would it be a radio station? I've heard of radio stations coming to malls to host an event, or to help promote certain products or ideas. Maybe it's just that the malls here in Chicago have multiple music stores in them and maybe it's just that only here in Chicago malls don't have radio stations. quote> Why do you really care? It's not as if it's real life. Malls can have radio station outlets that may not purposely be for broadcasting, but for events, merchandise and promotional value. Who said there was only one music shop in the mall? Are you able to see inside it? quote> Dude let's start over, here - the name of this thread is retail space for lease. I suggested a source where people and DJ's can buy hot music in your mall, which I am well aware that you are making. The idea doesn't fit what you would like for your creation - that's fine. Your reasoning being that the radio station is going to take care of all the music needs. Don't turn around and say that's not what I said, because you know that is exactly what it sounds like when you read my suggestion for the store and your following response. So then I ask, only 1 music store? and it's a radio station? It's cool, if that's how you want it, your the king of this mall. It was just a critique, and this being a simtropolis BAT Open Discussion thread, people are entitled to make critiques, and suggestions. But dude don't try to go big boy and ask me why I even care and then try to make a jack ass out of me and ask if I can see inside the mall. Maybe I came across as having an attitude, and I do apoligize and hope you feel better if you took it personal, but man with comments like yours you took it to another level. We don't need that here, simtropolis has a good community going here. Take it easy and I hope your mall turns out wonderful. Don't get bored of it as there are many waiting for it. Peace
  11. Building Requests Filled

Date:5/19/2004 11:22:15 PM Author:just255 I'm filling my own request for Adelphia Coliseum (Titan's Stadium).....it might take a while to complete but i hope to get it done within a month. quote> How is the stadium coming along?
  12. Official BAT Request Thread

I've got a request that is essential to the sanity of our sims. Our Sims in our cities need a place to go where they can find the latest dance tracks, albums, and DJ's can keep up to date with thier passion in order to keep the parties in our cities moving! We need a DJ Central here at simtropolis' LEX. Somebody please give it a shot! And please use the logo!

  14. Can you place a store in the mall where people can go get the hottest records and DJ's can keep up to date to entertain our cities' nightlife entertainment? How about putting a DJ Central in the mall?
  15. I thought of another idea for one of your anchor stores, how about putting a huge Borders Bookstore? I've asked someone to create these before, but no one has found this store appealing enough except for nerdy ol me!
