About This File

Info:

This is the updated 3ds HD version of the 3rd release of the Towers of Steel Project. The Mount Royal Transmission Tower is a freestanding lattice tower located on "Mount Royal" in Montreal, Canada. Nearly all of Montreal's TV & radio stations broadcast from here hence the need for a candelabra(multi-platform) design. The actual height of the tower in the real world is not publicized but I've estimated it at approximately 433ft/132m(including transmitters). It  is one of the shorter towers but imo it makes up for the lack of height by being very detailed. The lot can be found at the bottom of the Landmark menu. Some industrial high tech cap relief is also provided.

Three versions of the tower are available. This each versions has a different paint scheme. However, rather than having separate lots for each version I've instead used a prop family. Meaning, each time you plop the lot you have a 33% change of getting a particular  paint scheme. Additionally, the AWL(air craft warning lights) are low intensity night lights made in 3ds rather than the previously used maxis red blinking props.

Stats:

Plop Cost: $4,330
Landmark Effect: 20 radius: 10
Demand Satisfied: HT 2750

Dependencies:

None!

Thanks!

But what do we do with the prior release/versions, like the 2nd release and the  original/first release?  Will they conflict with this third release?

@kathrynlacey Thanks - There's no conflict with the original releases from last year, these are just far more detailed with better textures as well since they're rendered in 3ds instead of gmax. I've left original version on the exchange because in the higher views i.e zoom 1,2,3, they are more visible and some people might like that option instead. Otherwise you can delete the old versions since these are superior in all other aspects.

@dubldrop Thanks, glad to be of help.

I saw that too and originally I made the tower exactly 100m tall to the upper platform. I added the transmitters later on which gave it a total height of 120m. Often the transmitters are not including in the height quoted for tv or radio towers on wiki because they can be easily replaced, where as the structure of the tower itself is permanent. But even with the transmitters added it still looked a little on the short side so I increased the height further by 10%. The extra height is also beneficial in making the towers complicated exoskeleton structure more visible and less bunched together.
