SPUI - Single Point Urban Interchange  5.3.1

About This File

The latest SPUI is here, without traffic lights that once restricted its capacity. It is also optimized for the pathfinder. Local vehicles turning onto the freeway switch to the innermost and outermost lanes, while through traffic stay in the middle lane. Still, you need to plan carefully to handle the freeway traffic coming off onto the local roads. If all the vehicles choose to turn right at the next intersection, they will all line up in one lane despite two empty lanes on their left-hand side.

Size: 50 cells across and 50 cells along freeway. You need to preserve its spot before plopping it in. I know it's huge but it's needed for the more gentle slope.

Recommended companion mod: Saik0's Toggle Zoning mod

--Disable the zone by the ramps.

--Usage: Open roads panel, toggle the button off, and then place the interchange.

Finally a quality interchange upload! Very fine job sir.

Wish everyone would stop uploading every interchange they come up with.

Is there a Steam download link available for your work?  Your SPUI is really creative and arguably the best out of what's available there by a mile.

Thanks everyone. Should I also make ground level SPUIs with the highway elevated? Let me hear your opinions.

yes, by all means, share away! where i am, the interstates do mostly go over the roads...

thank you for your work and your generousity.

while it might not be a spui, i love me a good dogbone interchange, but can't make one that looks good to save my life. **hint hint**

Very nice work man.

How to learn to make these "intermediate height"? I want to make my own intersections with smooth ramps because the majority of these pre-made ones dont fit in place if the terrain have any dump or height variation in the area needed.

(Due to using a pirated copy of the game.) Sorry, no.

How to learn to make these "intermediate height"?

The concept is simple: You intersect a ramp in the middle. This creates a point at an intermediate height. So far as I know, this is the only way to make it.

You can try this in assets editor first, where you can count the tiles and learn something. Good luck!

I intersect a ramp in the middle of what exactly?

Thanks for the info, I will try to figure it out in the asset editor.

Cya. =)

I really need to test things out thoroughly before reviewing....

These are ok. However, after having tried them in game I would not give them 5 stars anymore. There is an imperfection/eyesore in the way you made the ramps. You could have made a better product with a tiny bit more work.

The ramps are not well made:

This what it looks like when plopped

Thats some serious wiggle and its ugly.

This is what it SHOULD look like, after I've fixed them in my game.

This is your chance to fix them and make your work more perfect :)

Sorry if I'm too honest but it's what I'd expect from anyone who reviews my own work.

Also, if this was already fixed in latest versions, disregard my comment.

@TPB, yes, both A and B from ver. 2 are imperfect. I released them without checking beforehand. This problem came to me when I was redrawing them for ver. 3. I didn't fix it because I thought people would probably get rid of old files when there are new ones available.

But since you've pointed it out, I am going to renew old files and update them. Thanks for your comment!

Edit- Done. Also deleted ver. 2 and 3 as they are really ugly and broken.

Edit2- Huge update. It's improved a lot. It's easier and more flexible to place them!

Serious problem here, the small curved pieces of parallel one-way roads will always deform when I save the file...

Found the solution. I have to give up some part of earthen ramp :(

Edit: I found new solution and avoided that sacrifice. A great design change occurred. No traffic lights are created. Finally, it's a free-flowing interchange!
