About This File
The São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand Art Museum (better known by the acronym MASP) is one of the most important Brazilian cultural institutions. Inaugurated on November 7, 1968, with the presence of the British sovereign, Queen Isabel II, it is located on Avenida Paulista, downtown São Paulo, in a building designed by the Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi.
Famous for the span of more than 70 meters that extends under four huge red pillars, designed by engineer José Carlos de Figueiredo Ferraz, the building is considered an important example of Brazilian architecture and one of the most popular icons in the city of São Paulo.
