Area Covered: Entire Large City

Demolition: 500

Building Cost: 100

School EQ: 48

Books: 230,000

Notes:

This is a four story building so please no comments telling me it can't hold 230,000 books. Look at the back of the building and count. It has 4 levels including the basement.

Please leave a rating and let me know what you think, thank you.

Have fun and enjoy.

It is too bad that people are not able to see all the little tinny details that go into a mod like the one I have done. The stair case for example you can barely make it out and it took me a very long time and a lot of effort went into it.

In G-max these models look great. I hope they release a Sim City five and we can render our models again with something that shows off more of the details we all put into our models.

For now I will just continue to render models for Sim City 4 like everyone else.

If you make the stairs slightly larger scale, they should show up fine.

Its an okay model. It just seems.. off scale to me somehow. 3/5 stars from me.

I Get the same thing all the time about my scale but trust me I do architectural drawings all the time and the scale is bang on for maxis models. Nothing wrong with the scale.

You say your scale is not wrong for SC4 well I am not completely sure it looks to me as your first floor is tiny...This is a three story high building plus the ground floor that seems to be partially underground and the tree planters are higher than the first floor and the ground floor and the first floor together...have you vertically scaled your model 133%?

Furthermore to make a BAT look good in game is not only about the quality of your model but the materials and textures applied to it, this is something that requires careful tweaking...

checking your previous BATs you say you made your six storey high school 18 meters tall, well this is really low, your floors should be at least 3.5 to 5 meters, and as I said you need to scale the whole thing up by 133% so even if your floors are 3 meters tall they become 3.99 meters. The scaling thing has to do with this (from Odainsaker)
the "squished" ingame look is not a fault of regional architectural variations or Maxis ingame element scales, but is instead entirely a fluke of the ingame SimCity 4 camera, which uses an axonometric or parallel perspective view to create the unreal 3D illusion. Because this type of mathematically abstracted 3D view is a distortion away from the reality perceived by our eyes, we perceive distortions in foreshortening in the BAT rendered model, ruining the proportions of the work most perceptively along the vertical axis
1 Meter is equal to approximately 39.36" That means a entire floor should be no more then 3 blocks high including the floor, however I have started to make my building four blocks high. A standard floor is no more then 8 feet tall. That's real world scale. In Maxis 1 Meter is 1 block, so one block equals 39.36 real world inches. A full level of a building is no more then 108" with a 12" floor in between each level of the building. So there is no way it could be any more then 4 blocks high for one level of a building. My calculations are correct, this I know to be true.

In this model you will notice the first row of windows belongs to the basement level that is why they are lower.

As I said in my previous post I understand that the bottom floor is the basement my concern is about the other floors some key points:
-look at the vertical distance between your windows
-the standard distance of 8ft is for a residential building (mainly a house) and not considering the floor joists a more adequate number is 8.7ft for the wall of a house (for commercial or mixed-use buildings as a library this is usually more than 11ft)
-in the game things get squashed this is an optical effect caused by the cameras therefor you need to compensate for this by scaling your model by 133% in the z plane.

You seem to be a bit stubborn and the thing is that I am only trying to help you here, you can take all this info and use it to improve or forget about it and continue as you are, is up to you. By the way in the forums there is a BATing section where you to get feedback and show your progress.

Where is this forum for getting feedback on the progress I am making on a mod before I post it?

5/5 - Looks fine to me. As the name suggests, this is CITY-wide library. Expect some tough competition for your local branches.
