I agree, it looks very simple and is quite unrealistic. Also, showing a picture of it at night doesn't help us to see what detail there is.

Yes, this is a good place to start, but don't upload it to the STEX. Keep those for your own enjoyment. Once you start being able to make cool, intricate regions, than we can start downloading.

Basic to start off is alright as practice, but maybe you could've gotten further feedback, give it more detail, asking whether it is presentable enough on the forums before uploading to the STEX IMO. And river's normally meander?

well, first of all, you shouldn't go to random squares and put random landforms in them...

As I said, ask for opinions on the forums, make it nicer according to suggestions given to improve, and then just keep improving! Sooner or later you'll get good at it, and people'll start appreciating the things you make. Work on it. :D

And as is, mine main city would be somewhere down the river, and the map is 2.5/5.
