About This File
Angel of the North, Gateshead, England
The Angel of the North is a colossal sculpture situated on a hill overlooking major travel routes into the north east of England. The sculpture was designed by artist Antony Gormley, and completed in 1998. The structure stands in parkland at 20m tall and with a wingspan of 54m. The Angel's wings are angled forwards by 3.5 degrees to form a gentle embrace, and serves as a monument and gateway to the North East of England.
Info:
There are 2 different versions of the model included, an orthogonal and an angled version (22.5degrees). The angled version is included to increase the flexibility of placement.
Easch version has 2 different lot types; a plain grass lot and a transparent base texture lot. The transparent lots are included to enable the statue to be placed in non-urban parkland (as in real life), such as close to highway interchanges. The transparent lots tolerate the use of draggable paths such as the ones by Chrisadams3997, which can be dragged directly onto the lotspace and under the sculpture's base (as in my images). These are merely recommended extras. They are in no way required to make this download work. Also included are plain grass lots to add flexibility, these also make interesting roundabout fillers.
All versions are in 'High Definition'. This gives a higher resolution at the closest zoom. HD BATs do not require any further action from the end user. They are installed and used in exactly the same way as standard definition BATs. HD models do however, increase the file size (by approx 2-4 times), so I am prepared to release an SD version in the future if it's a problem for some.
