City Hall
NOTE: V2 has been uploaded as a second and separate .zip because it not only has many upgrades from the first version, but many users expressed an interest in both a larger tower AND a smaller tower. A full list of changes can be found in the .zip ReadMe.
"Long ago, in the gilded age of the city you grew up in, a terrible dictator mayor came to power," Dorris Jane Sim said. She was old, and her voice had become very gentle through the years. On her lap, a small boy no older than ten gazed up at her beatific face. "Mr. Bruehleski was a terrible man with ties to sinister characters all over the city. In those days, terrible mob men with guns and money ran the city." The little boy gasped and clutched her garden dress. "Mr. Bruehleski, the leader of these heinous criminals, was discontented with the humble structure serving its duty as City Hall back then, so he had it razed to the ground! The men with guns came with dynamite and wrecking balls, blasting away not just the old City Hall, but the police station and courthouse too! For days there was rioting, but when the dust had settled, it was clear who won. In their place, a giant new City Hall rose from the craters." She pushed aside the rosy laced curtains and, with a gnarled, arthritic finger, pointed to the gleaming spire in the the distance. "When it was completed, the mayor had total authority over all the inhabitants. No-one could leave, but shady business was allowed in. At night, secret police spied on the innocents of the city, and by day, armed mafias made sure order was kept so bad business could prosper. One man, however, was not content to live under the cruel, authoritarian regime, and fought against the injustices all around him!" The little boy had saucers for eyes now, this must be the exciting part, he thought. "By night, he fought the mafias, and, one joyous night, burned the spire to the ground! Caught in the flames, Mr. Bruehleski perished, along with many of the crooked cops. Do you know who that brave fighter was? The superhero of our city?" The little boy just shook his head, a decisive no. "He was your father. After the spire burnt down, the people elected him mayor and he rebuilt the beautiful tower to be used for the purpose of good. you must understand little one, the city is slipping into darkness once more! Your father is too feeble to carry on the legacy, so he has passed it on to you."
Confused, the boy just looked at her.
"When the time comes, maybe many years from now, he will have prepared you to do battle against the villains again."
He just gazed out the window at the tower in the distance, gleaming in the midday sun.
