About This File

New Version 2.0!   Redesigned Wings, Control Surfaces, and Window Glass.

Douglas DC-7C "Seven Seas"

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines c. 1958

This file overrides the in-game generic "midprop" automata, replacing it with a Douglas DC-7C in the late '50s "Flying Dutchman" livery of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

There are no dependencies.

Fixes & Features

- Re-shaped nose section, forward fuselage, tail, elevators, and wingtips

- Airline and livery appropriate to the age of the aircraft

- Authentic coloration and weathering of wings, engines, and control surfaces

- Precision-aligned skin components eliminate seams and distortion

Real Aircraft History

The DC-7C is the world's fastest piston-prop airliner, and the first able to make non-stop transatlantic flights. The DC-7A first flew in 1953; the stretched DC-7C variant in 1956. Production continued until 1958, when demand dropped sharply because of airlines switching to first-generation jetliners like the DC-8 and 707.

Fantastic job on the model, it's very realistic. I don't really know when I would use this, because i can't make lots even if my life depended on it, but it's a great download, thanks for this! 10/10 :)

This "prop" will show up as a replacement for all Maxis midprops, even on the game-default airports... there is no need to build your own Lots with it, unless of course you really want to ;) The air-stairs and walkways in the pic can be found in my RMIP-2 airport packs, which feature ploppable gates and parking spots with this plane type.

Finally something for my fifties region. You mentioned a new series - is it possible to get series from the different periods in aviation (like replacing the midprop with Dash 8, the Avro with Airbus A320 and the 707 with Boeing 777) I'm sorry to ask, but I'm too one of those who could make anything like this even if my life depended on it.

@nanumea: it's technically possible but extremely time-consuming. BATing them as normal props would take far less time I think. @bongoswimp: no, as far as I know these cannot be randomized through traditional prop families because this is an automata sprite rather than a static prop. @kevin: changed my mind, I guess...

Does anyone know where I can find any aircraft from the 40's or 30's? I don't always like the jets and just want to get a more aged look for my cities airport.
