About This File

Introduction / Overview

This is for you who have downloaded the HKABT HK Liberte Complex or are planning to do so.

The original building was an experiment when it was released. Its sheer size and its enormous R$$ capacity were beyond all Maxis limits, and two problems showed:

The R$$ version couldn't grow without the Super Demand Mod due to its high capacity. Like all oversized lots, the Liberte suffered from the infamous crime bug - check large default lots like the Airports, the Air Force Base, the Country Club, or the University for comparison: They all attract disproportionate amounts of crime.

This fix is intended to... well, fix the above problems!

In order to do so, the first tweak I introduced was to eliminate the "no grow" problem for the R$$ version. The capacity has simply been lowered to 7,655 R$$ (down from 10,450). Of course all stats have been adjusted accordingly. The new version has turned out to grow quite easily.

As for the crime problem, I am glad to announce that I have also found a solution! These new files are equipped with the patented CrimeShieldTM technology. Don't expect wonders or cheats, crime will not disappear entirely! However, this fix will cause the Liberte lots to exhibit medium crime levels when they are outside any police coverage, and inside the radius of normal police coverage you'd expect in any city that's big enough to get this huge residential complex, crime levels should be low (between zero and moderate) - at the very least, absolutely manageable and in line with "normal" buildings. This fix will NOT turn the Liberté into a crime-free zone, which is something I would consider to be cheaty.

You will see on the screenshots that the Liberté now lights up green in the crime map, like a police station. This is due to the fact that the owners became aware of the crime problem and hired a private security service headed by Chief Security Officer T. Wrecksyoneck. They take care of crime inside the complex, but don't go beyond its boundaries. You will see their action radius if you plop one of the landmark versions.

Dependencies

Original building:

Since this is a fix for the Liberté Complex, it's pretty pointless to use this if you don't have the original building, HK Liberte Complex by bixel.

Installation

...if you have a good overview over your plugins and consider yourself an advanced user:

Simply find the original Liberté files (the desc files for the growable versions, the lot files for the landmark versions) and replace them with the files included in this download. You can simply overwrite; you should notice that the new files have a slightly bigger file size and a more recent time stamp. That's it!

...if you are not sure about all this plugins stuff and consider yourself a n00b:

Just unzip the entire content of this ZIP into your plugins folder. The name of the included sub-folder that holds the bugfix files begins with "zzz_". This way, it should be loaded after the original files and override them.

IMPORTANT:You can safely keep all Libertes you might have and simply overwrite the

Aw, shoot. I have discovered a little side effect, and I'd like to do some more research & testing. Please stay tuned - there might be a new version, and I'm planning one for Tung Chung Crescent as well. However, it depends on how well I get things to work. So keep your fingers crossed and let's hope that I can sort everything out. Locking this file for now.

Unlocking again... so the crime bug turned out to be next to impossible to fix, but I hope this will have at least a slight effect. Anyway, it doesn't hurt, and the capacity fix should be useful, so I'm reopening this. Sorry about the inconvenience.
