Kant01’s Rural Development Kit – 1 (RDK1)

For my first upload to STEX (and after so many requests) I thought I would share a set of lots that I initially created for my own personal use in my City Journal, “The Mystic County Project.” These lots are very simple in nature, using only a few props and have a transparent base to allow the terrain to show through. The main features are the Lodge Pole fence prop and the seasonal trees, all created by cycledogg. I found his props very inspirational and they have become a central part of rural development in my cities, particularly along dirt streets and surrounding farms.

There are 14 lots in all, straight and corner pieces w/o trees, a straight piece w/ hay stacks, straight and corner pieces w/ seasonal trees, and then three additional lots just w/ seasonal trees. These lots will all appear grouped together at the top of the Health menu so as not to clutter up the Park menu. However, they are just parks and have no benefit to your Sims health.

It's often the simplicity that makes something beautiful and aesthetic, and your lots certainly fit into this category. Well done!

Excellent. And I like not having to pay to plop, maintain or bulldoze. I got 101 uses for these already. Thanks 10/10

Kant, They are downloaded, and I'll go try them right away, but as I've already see them in action I can safely rate 10/10... Great work!

Your roads look really great, but I have a little problem. I have Jeronij Dirty Streets Extended version and his roads work just fine, but when I plop one of your fences along the road it turns to a normal road... Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks a lot and nice job!!

@beto: jeronij's textures only appear when you zone farms along them. As soon as there are only ploppable lots next to them (but no farms), they turn into the regular grey textures again. Zone a farm at the other side (as shown in the pic), and the dirt should appear again.

Very nice indeed, however I get the Big Brown Box even when I have the recommended dependencies stated installed, any reason for that happening?

Palpatine - You should only get the brown boxes if you don't have the right model in your folder. There are 14 lot files and 1 model file. You need the model file for all 14 lots to work.

beto: if you are using the diagonal dirt streets, the street will always change to a normal street, even if their is a farm on one side. Don't think there is a way to avoid that. The same thing happens if you place residential zone next to a diagonal street. However, if the street is straight, it should not change, even w/o the farm zoning next to it.

I just realized that I should have noted that the trees on the lots don't appear when you first plop them. The trees will "grow" on after one season. If anyone has any problems let me know!

Kant, I just checked these lots out in the game.... fantastic. Really great work! I can't wait to make extensive use of them.
