About This File

Named for a local health insurance company, ODS Tower is (as of October 19, 2005),  Portland, Oregon's 9th tallest building. The building is a block away from Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park, and is across Morrison street from a MAX light rail station. The curving side is supposed to mimic a curve in the nearby Willamette River.

Contents:

Landmark, CO$$ Plop, CO$$ Growable.

I didn't make any CO$$$ versions because there is all ready too many of them out there. If you would like a CO$$$, please feel free to modify this lot to make one. I may release a CO$$$ lot in the future if demand exists.

Lot Stats:

# of jobs: should be around 1612 CO$$, for both plop and grow versions.

(I used Maxis' Tallinn Office Suites as the basis for pollution, job capacity, etc.. numbers. It should function in the game similarly to this Maxis lot).

Installation Instructions:

Download and unzip the ODS Tower to your C:/...mydocuments/SimCity 4/plugins folder. Choose the version you wish to use, delete those which you wish not, and enjoy!

Misc. info, thank yous:

I'd wish to thank the following people for making this building possible:

Jtportland: Sent some really useful textures and offered much guidance despite his busy schedule lately.

Pegasus: Helped me figure out why the exported model was looking weird and gave me a really good solution that worked for this problem.

Superstar, Ardecila, and Andreas_roth: All of your opinions and help were crucial in helping me texture this! Thank you very much for your comments and direction!

Modeling, lighting, and texturing by myself, Sparkythepenguin

Thanks for adding to the way-too-small ranks of Co$$ buildings! I love the green glass texture. It looks like the roof vents aren't quite perfect -- http://maps.google.com/maps?q=portland+or&ll=45.518263,-122.674423&spn=0.003414,0.010274&t=k&hl=en ...but I love the building anyway. Thanks!

Yeah, I was a little leary about the roof junk... Making that stuff less complex is a tough call. (sigh). Yeah it does look like the Fox Tower, huh? They were both built around the same time, and I like to think as them as sister buildings (although they're by different architects).

Wow very realistic. We don't have enough buildings of that style on the Stex yet. Excellent work Sparky.

Thanks JtPortland! The green texture you gave me really helped, eh? I was suprised at how it made this look. I was going to lighten it, but saw that the building really stood out like this. Thanks again :)

Dude, you really need to work on your night-lighting. I see that you are obviously using a different colour, but no really good lighting ever uses that default texture. Also, although suitable for you large amount of small windows, it is not for the large ones at the base. Use omnis there...

...it would look much better. If you know this, you should be applying it. Also, you could have put some sort of entrance spotlight. Anyways, the BAT, regardless is fantastic! Keep up the good work! I'll give it 10/10 but you really should improve your lighting.

Thank You for this baby. It is a beauty of Hig-Rise. It is very European and is at a nice height. I am not find of BATs too high; whereas this is an awe-inspiring building.
