The Temple of Venus and Roma was a personal project of emperor Hadrian, initiated in 121 AD, and finished in 135. It had a double dedication to Roma (facing the Forum) and Venus (facing the Colosseum).
The Temple was the largest sanctuary in the Roman Empire and a non very roman, it completely lacked the podium and had a colonnade all around the temple.
