About This File

Hello, this is my first contribution to the STEX. This little building was modelled in SketchUp, and it's my first attempt at an office building, which I decided to call "Blue Rise" (I know, it sucks). I don't know yet how to convert this into a BAT, so I'm putting it up in case someone's interested in making a BAT Prop/Lot out of it. Comments welcome!

Update: Removed minor model glitches, trimmed off unecessary edges, added access doors to upper terrace. Removed image files from ZIP archive.

Looks like it has some potential... maybe someone will take a stab and turn it into a fully fledged bat. Great first effort...

Nice building So can we make buildings SketchUp? or do we have to use Bat? I would like to make some buildings but have not got the hang of Bat. But I know how to use SketchUp.

I have Sketchup, and I messed around trying to make some buildings. My only problem was the accuracy of the measurements. Like having a 4x4 room then drawing in 2 1.75x3.25 windows equally spaced apart. Lord_Trillian also uses Sketchup but I don't know how he makes a export to BAT.

SketchUp has a tool called the "Tape Measure", which you can use to create auxiliary lines to help you locate stuff before you build them. You should try using it for exact measurements, it helps a lot.

I've found out how to convert this into a BAT, but I've run into a problem: the window edges won't show up in the textured model. I'd appreciate it if someone could fix it/help me with this.

the tape measure tool is fine to learn the measurements of things already drawn and then laying down contruction lines. However I soon found myself spending l;ike 15 min. laying down all the guidelines where I want to draw.

If I want to start drawing from a coordinate point like say x3.75 I never know If I did it right until after its drawn. Then again moving objects is a total pain becuase you can't type in coordinate points like you can in gmax. we should start a dicussion thread in BAT Workshop.

The window edges are not supposed to show up in the BAT - because they are the edges of the polygon. The only solution to this is to draw window frames in SketchUp. As in, proper window frames.

well this looks like a good start, I know how to BAT Sketchup Models so I'll give this a go, this is obviously an old model that I've not seen on the STEX yet.
