About This File

Mountains, plains, rivers, and valleys are just some of the terrainfeatures that make up this landscape leading to an ocean. There arehigh, snow-capped peaks, magnificent river gorges and lush rivervalleys. Plenty of flat land exists along the coast, where the riversconverge and flow into the ocean.

This map has an abundance of buildable land even with its many terrainfeatures. It is 32x32 kilometers in size (2049x2049 pixels), making itlarge, but not too large for almost any computer. The config fileconsists of a mix of medium and large maps. This map was originallybased off a DEM of an area along the middle of California's coast, although it has been modified extensively to the point where it onlybears some resemblance to the original DEM.

A larger, 800x407 picture of the map can be viewed here: http://img193.echo.cx/img193/9902/cstlhighlands2wb.jpg

A full-sized, 4067x2068 picture of the map can be viewed here: http://img193.echo.cx/img193/6096/coastalhighlands24sc.jpg

After I created the region file, the region view just shows up as blank terrain. When I open the cities, they're filled with mountains and streams as expected, but I don't see those in the region view. Does that have anything to do with the region being bigger than normal?

Bones1: No, it wouldn't be the region size. I think I have had this problem before on other maps. I'd reccommend trying this: Go into each city tile and save and exit to the region from that tile. Hope this helps. BTW, thanks for the compliments everyone; the comments are very much appreciated.

Comdude: I generated the region again, and this time it worked fine and I could see it properly. Nice area. I would prefer shallower banks for the rivers, but I guess those can easily be smoothed out in god mode.

Everyone: Thanks for the compliments; as always, I really do appreciate them a lot. erucolindo: You will need to use the provided custom config.bmp file unless you can make your own. Download it here, and put it in the region's folder for it to work. I hope this helps.

confic.bmp? It should be config.bmp... if there is a guide that says confic.bmp it is wrong. Make sure to leave it as config.bmp (it shouldn't have to be renamed at all). Good luck, erucolindo!

Very nice. I am sure I will be entertained for weeks by this terrain. I have taken the liberty of making a few local adjustments to the landward ends of the streams to make them a little less abrupt, but thanks very much for a great terrain
