About This File

The Altino Arantes Building (Portuguese: Edifício Altino Arantes), also known as the Banespa Building (in Portuguese: Edifício do Banespa), is an important skyscraper located in São Paulo, Brazil.

The building was constructed to be the headquarters of the Bank of the State of São Paulo (Banespa), between 1939 and 1947. It remained the tallest building of the city for two decades until being surpassed by the Edifício Itália. Soon after its completion in the 1940s, it was named the world's largest structure of reinforced concrete. It was designed by Plínio Botelho do Amaral, who was inspired by the Empire State Building and Frank Lloyd Wright. Its panoramic view of the center of São Paulo and its outskirts attract thousands of visitors. In the future, the Altino Arantes building will become the headquarters of the Banespa Cultural Institute, facilitating artistic and cultural activities.

If you ever go to São Paulo, Brazil, visit this building. The Altino Arantes (actual name) is one of the most famous touristic spots of the city: its achitecture is unique in downtown and it is a symbol of the economic growth of the State of São Paulo, whose flag trembles over the city.

Built in 1942, its 161 meters saw the downtown´s flourishing and decay, but, fortunately the downtown is being renewed. Certainly a good art-deco addition to your downtown!

The similarity with the empire state: that's not a concidence, the initial design was different, but after the empire was built the owners said "gimme that one"

Nice job... but... the FLAG... it is not Brazil Flag. Is it Sao Paulo Flag (or his province) it look like the Chile Flag ???
