The Villatesta citizens, as well as the tourists, like to walk and bicycle around town, encouraged by free municipal bicycles (they name them "Kixis"), as well as the numerous promenades, walkways and parks that generations of mayors have built all over while de-swamping the place, especially after half of the old port was decommissioned. The latest touristic folly of the present Mayor, Gaston Zabnis the Third (yes, it's a dynasty), is an Honest-to-God medieval castle he had transported over from Europe, stone by stone. Not the entire castle, only the Dungeon, but still, an impressive piece. P. R. had to agree, even as she was panting there after the day's exertions on foot and wheel.

As P.R. is ready to leave the Queenbee region and her fond memories of childhood, let's enjoy the last rays of the summer sun with her and her friends, shall we ?

... It changed, because the ex-youths banded together and elected they own ticket, and they knew exactly what they wanted : they wanted their kids to go on walking, and pedalling. And they got their way. The banks of the lake that had been dezoned at some point for this or that never-built bridge were transformed into parks and bike lanes and they built the Marlaing pedestrian and bicycle bridge, exactly where such a bridge should have been built in the first place. And everybody lived happily ever after. Especially the kids -- and the tourists -- who could keep on enjoying the beaches and marinas without choking on car fumes.
