A set of Amtrak single-deck passenger cars, representing the variety usually seen on trains traveling in and out of New York City. Here's what you get: * 2 Amfleet-1 Cafe Cars in phase 3 and phase 4 paint. * 2 Amfleet-2 Coach cars in phase 3 and phase 4 paint. * 1 Heritage "Shorty" Baggage car. * 1 Heritage Coach * 2 Heritage Diners * 1 Horizon Coach * 1 Viewliner Sleeper ------ == 10 unique cars, each with its own realistic night lighting. There are four original-replacement Coach cars, plus an extra add-on version of each car in the set, so you can use all of them at the same time, and mix/match with my other sets. All cars have been scaled to match my other work.- 10 Comments

UPDATE to Version 3.01 (28 May 04): * More re-scaling, to exactly match my other Version 3 sets. If you like to mix passenger car and locomotive sets, you want this. UPDATE to Version 3 (25 May 04): * Corrected misdrawn first car on subways * Simplified packaging * Slight re-scaling and spacing adjustments on passenger trains A fictitious passenger railway to honour Trolca on the occasion of his 1000th post. You get: * Original-replacement locomotive and passenger car * 2 extra passenger locomotives for variety or set-mixing * 2 Extra passenger cars for variety or set-mixing. * Original replacement elevated and subway train sets * Extra elevated and subway train set for variety or set-mixing. The extra equiment can be used with any other sets you may have. The passenger cars blend well with the GO Transit set, and the elevated and subway trains work well with my DC Metro and MARTA sets. So your city's transit company can "lease" cars from others if ridership is high. Congratulations to Trolca on 1000 posts! (And credit to him as well, for the base models I started with.)- 26 Comments

UPDATE to Version 3 (24 May 04): * Fixed incorrect drawing of first car of subway train * Simplified packaging and shrunk files * Altered paint scheme and car spacing to be more attractive This Metroliner set includes a matched set of Amtrak Metroliner cars for your elevated, subway, and surface rail enjoyment. All are in Amtrak's "Phase 3" paint scheme: red/white/blue stripe with black lettering. Cab fronts are now red, as most people seem to prefer that and it looks better in the game. A special credit goes out to Trolca. Believe it or not, these started life as his LIRR passenger cars. You can get them, and more freight cars than you will believe possible, in Trolca's Train Set, available in the Mods section here at Simtropolis.- 6 Comments

UPDATE to Version 3 (24 May 04): * Fixed problem with first subway car not drawing correctly. * Widened car spacing slightly to look better. * Simplified packaging for easier use and smaller file sizes. * Added extra cars to mix with other sets If you have a previous version, remove it completely and use these files instead. Here is a matched set of original-replacement passenger, elevated, and subway cars in DC Metro colors. Now your Sims can ride the same trains on surface rail as they do on elevated rail and in subways. There are five files in the set, one to replace every kind of passenger rail car and engine in the game with a Metro car. You can use all the files, just the elevateds and subways, or any combination you like. You can even have regular locomotives pull Metro cars, if you want to. It's up to you. All cars have night lighting, and are UDI-enabled where applicable. There are no dependencies, and the files do not depend on each other. These cars replace the original Maxis equipment, and can be used at the same time as any of the "Extra" cars and locomotives from my other sets. [This would be very strange, but it's your game.]- 41 Comments

UPDATE to Version 3.01 (28-05-2004): * Improved paint and night-lighting on locomotives * Re-scaled and repackaged set to match my other ver. 3 work Something old, someting new, something borrowed, something blue: Amtrak California Pacific Surfliner and Capital Corridor/San Joaquin passenger train sets. I have re-worked the Amtrak California set I released earlier in the forums, to have better wheels and car-ends, and more realistic top window placement. I have also added a set in "Pacific Surfliner" colors. Each scheme contains: * An original-replacement locomotive to replace the Maxis one * An extra locomotive that can be used in addition to any others * An original-replacement passenger car to replace the Maxis one * A set of extra passenger cars that can be used with any others There are a total of five cars per color scheme, each with unique night lighting. Files should be placed in your Maxis plugins folder. Use only one of the original-replacement files at a time. The extra cars and locomotives have been designed to avoid conflicts with any other sets, so they can be used at the same time as any other passenger set you may use. Trolca and I coordinate to ensure that our sets will work together. Credits to: Trolca, for the base models, teaching me how to mod trains, and generally being a great guy. Dearnen for base models, support and encouragement. iLive and DarkMatter for the tools that make it possible. And of course, Dirk and Maxis for the great site and the great game.- 41 Comments
