Firstly, I never know the right place to post here: I find a forum that I think is correct - this one I thought was about suggesting possible things for the NAM team, but now it says it's NAM and Transit Networks. So please feel free to move this to wherever it should go! Firstly, I want to salute everyone on the NAM team/s for bringing great new transport capacity and variety for the game. Secondly, I'm not sure if this is at all possible, but I was wondering whether it might be technically feasible to add in player-controlled speed limits? I'd quite like to be able to lower the speed of my streets in places as pretty soon they can become rat-runs and cut-throughs. Which sort of defeats the object, because if I disconnect them they can just become bus-stop* hell and I have to put pedmals to reach them. putting pedmals everywhere (I quite like big suburbs everywhere), generally in the "block" formula in one of Rob's videos. The bus stops and pedmals get in the way of development somewhat. Also, traffic just loves one way roads - are they the fastest route before RHW? It certainly seems so: given that in the UK one-way roads are generally only put in to improve traffic flow in fairly dense urban areas, it doesn't help when unnecessary traffic with perfectly good roads on outer routes jumps into the one way system an d cram, it up. In the pedestrian revolution mod, cars seem to slow for zebra crossings - but is that just cosmetic? If not, perhaps the technology could be used to build road/rumble strips (we used to call them "sleeping policemen" in the UK)? *I saw somewhere, sometime, there was talk of "on road" bus stops, but I can't find them even after looking quite hard. I wondered if they were a project that never got completed? If they do exist, and somebody knows where they are, I'd be grateful if you'd point me in the rough direction; be it STEX, gameplay mods, over on SCDevotion, or wherever. Best regards and thanks again NAM team. Roddy

Many people have wanted to see one-way streets in the NAM over the years. However, this has not happened. Other people have wanted to see one-way roads with speeds and capacities similar to regular roads, for those situations where one-way roads do not have the advantage of timed stoplights to give them the speed advantage that they typically employ. To give one-way roads this dual functionality in the NAM - with two different sets of speeds and capacities - is probably impossible. However, it is possible to effectively construct one-way streets (with speed limits and capacities essentially equivalent to standard streets) as well as construct one-way roads that differ from standard roads only in their direction of travel, and this can all be done without any changes to the NAM. To build one-way streets, just build most of the street as you normally would. However, when the street approaches an intersection, use a tile of one-way road to enforce the directionality of the street. This should be done on both sides of the intersection, so that Sims living or working on that block are forced to follow the one-way restrictions just like everyone else. If a block containing a one-way street crosses from a residential to a commercial or industrial zone, depending on the orientation of the street, it may be wise to include a tile of one-way road at the transition so that Sims can't backtrack just to get to their job. The RTMT one-way road stations can also be place right next to the intersections; these stations will enforce the one-way nature of the streets, while providing excellent transit service at the intersection. For producing slower one-way roads, simply follow the above instructions but connection the one-way pieces with standard roads instead of streets. If you wish to review the rationale for giving one-way roads significantly higher speeds and capacities than regular roads, please review the posts from here to here in the Traffic Simulator Z Development thread.

Attempting to create a realistic city, I would need to create low-density neighbors with one-way streets. In my city (and probably in many many others in the rest of the world) one-way streets as one-way roads are used. I know that streets don't generally lead to congestion, the reason I think Maxis did't bother to make a one-way version.. but as I said, I am attempting to create a realistic city... I could not find any DLC that featured one-way streets. Do you know where to find it? Or how difficult would it be to create a mod for it? Regards

This mod adds two new road building tools that allow you to upgrade between one- and two-way roads and to change one-way road directions, without having to demolish and rebuild the road. The tools work very similar to the default road upgrade tool. To convert an existing one-way road to a two-way road, you simply select the two-way upgrade tool and click on the segment of the the road you want to upgrade, and drag along the road to convert multiple segments. To convert a two-way road to a one-way road, however, you must drag to the direction you want the road to go instead of just clicking. One-way roads can also be changed to go to the opposite direction in the same manner. The roads are always converted to the same type counterparts, so it does not matter which road type you have selected in the road tool. This also means that it is not possible to directly convert a 4-lane road to a one-way road, because there is no 4-lane one-way road type in the game. Instead you must first upgrade the road to a 2- or 6-lane road and then convert it to a one-way road. Unzip into ..\Cities Skylines\Files\Mods. Activate the mod in your game. While the mod should work quite reliably, it is still somewhat experimental. Therefore it is recommended that you always save your city before using the mod. Current known issues: - Does not work on Linux. (fix planned) - Sometimes the mod stays on even when you are not using the roads tools, preventing you from placing electric lines or water pipes. If this happens, restarting the game should fix it. (cause unknown) - You can upgrade roads outside of the city's building area. How to change avenue to have the same capacity as one-way in NAM
pengoyo posted a topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Hi I'm using NAM (which I love) and it's traffic simulator, among other mods, but I was hoping to find out how I can change avenue capacity to match that of a one-way (since an avenue is basically just two one-ways right next to each other). Is there already a mod or option in NAM for this? Or is there a file I can edit to change this? If so what program should I use? Thanks
